About a 10-minute walk from Susukino Station, there is a crab restaurant called Kanitei. It's located on the second floor of a small building, so it's easy to miss if you're not careful. The restaurant looks a bit old, which made me a little worried, but the staff warmly welcomed us. We were seated in a private room, but in the next room, there was a lively party going on. The thin sliding door didn't do much to block out the noise, but the staff apologized for the inconvenience. We opted for the Lilac Course priced at 7000 yen, debating whether to go for the 10,000 yen course. Since we had a 10,000 yen omakase at "Sushinoyamada" yesterday, we decided to save a bit today. The course included a sashimi platter, hairy crab, snow crab, grilled dish, fried dish (crab dumplings), buttered potatoes, crab rice porridge, dessert, allowing us to fully enjoy the flavors of Hokkaido. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and delicious, but the highlight was definitely the hairy crab! I've never seen such a big hairy crab before. And nothing beats freshly boiled warm hairy crab, a true Hokkaido delicacy. The buttered potatoes had a hint of sweetness, perhaps from sugar, which was different from what I expected, but still very tasty. The crab dumplings were delicious as well! I wish they sold these in local supermarkets. The crab rice porridge was a bit too filling for me, I prefer a lighter version. The food was truly delicious, the staff was warm and welcoming, leaving us feeling warm and satisfied both in body and soul.
