Sapporo is a tourist destination, so when it comes to Hokkaido, seafood is also a form of entertainment. Representing this is Hachikyo, a popular restaurant that often appears in the media. With 6 locations in the Susukino area, this restaurant is always crowded with reservation guests on weekends. I used to visit this restaurant regularly when I came to Hokkaido a few years ago. This time, I made a reservation for two people with a friend who lives in Sapporo for 5:00 pm on a Sunday. Hachikyo is the only restaurant that accepts online reservations, which is why we chose it. When we arrived at the restaurant before 5:00 pm, we saw others waiting as well. As soon as the restaurant opened at 5:00 pm, everyone entered at once and many seats were quickly filled. The staff explained the menu and recommended dishes to us when we were seated, so we decided to go with their recommendations since it had been a while since our last visit. We ordered a sashimi platter, shirako with ponzu sauce, grilled Tasmanian salmon collar, and chicken zangi, along with some drinks for me. My companion doesn't drink, so I ended up drinking all the alcohol. The sashimi was fresh, and the shirako, a winter delicacy in Hokkaido, was delicious as expected. The Tasmanian salmon was surprisingly tasty, despite the initial high price. However, the highlight of the meal was the "tsukko meshi," where a large amount of salmon roe is piled on top of rice. This dish is a must-try, and the staff will advise you to order an amount that you can finish. When the tsukko meshi arrives, there is a performance where the salmon roe is generously piled on top of the rice, accompanied by the staff chanting "delicious!" This entertaining presentation adds to the popularity of the dish. The tsukko meshi was delicious, especially for salmon roe lovers. If you love salmon roe, visiting this restaurant in Sapporo is highly recommended.
