Is this a business model that is closer to a division of a chain store rather than a franchise? Each store has its own original bowl, so it's fun to see the differences between them. The original dish at this place in Nekoya is called "Yanesen Don," which is a unique bowl with duck meat in it.
[Revisit] March 2016: I have always been a fan of the "Bara Don," so I used to visit frequently. This time, I ordered the "Neta Mori" which had more toppings but seemed to have less compared to before. The sauce was also lighter, giving an overall more "elegant" feel. As someone who loves to eat a lot of fish, I miss the days when the toppings were overflowing and the green onions were not covered by the lid. The taste was just right before, not too salty or too sweet, with the flavors of tuna and salmon blending well. The staff seemed different, and since the quantity and taste have changed, I will take a break from visiting for a while.
May 2015: I love fish, so I always order the "Bara Don" with various toppings! The toppings are marinated, so those who don't like strong flavors can eat it as it is, making it convenient to eat at work or in the nearby park. The toppings vary depending on the store, but here, it often includes tuna, salmon, shrimp, egg, cucumber, shredded crab meat, and flying fish roe. Since I love all these toppings, I always end up ordering the Bara Don when I come here.
Noteworthy is the quality of the toppings. While they may not be outstanding, I have never received frozen or improperly thawed toppings, and for this price, the quality of the toppings is impressive. They also offer sashimi, which I have not tried, but it's nice to have the option to easily enjoy seafood. The staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere around the store is pleasant, making it a comfortable place to shop for seafood.
