☆Wandering Dinner Date with the Wife! (Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City)! ⇒ I'll leave my wife's birthday celebration to this place. I'm so happy to have such a wonderful restaurant near my hometown! $ Order! * First, "Premium Malt's with Divine Foam" 800 yen (tax included) x 2 for a toast! * Dinner Course "Phoenix"! 12500 yen... 4.8 * Amuse-bouche "Chinese-style Sliced Sea Bream" ... 5.0: Even though I'm not a fan of cilantro, I could enjoy it deliciously. I could taste the cilantro well but still enjoyed it. Amazing! I ate all the accompaniments and sauce other than the sea bream sashimi. It's too delicious. * Assorted Appetizers "Angel Shrimp" ... 4.0 "Jellyfish with Yuzu Wasabi Sauce" ... 4.3 "Shanghai-style Roast Pork" ... 4.3 "Bonito with Green Onion and Sichuan Pepper Sauce" ... 4.5 "Steamed Chicken with Green Onion Oil Sauce" ... 4.5 Wonderful! * "Shark Fin Steak with Shanghai Crab Miso Sauce" ... 5.0 The steak was perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce. * "Peking Duck" ... 5.0 A favorite of those who like a little meat on their bones! Time for the next drink! * Shaoxing Wine "Taopai (10-year-old Chen) Half" 2400 yen... 3.8 * "Bean Paste Vermicelli with Spring Rolls and Spiny Lobster" ... 5.0 Excellent spiny lobster! * "Abalone with Butter Nam Pla Sauce" ... 5.0 No complaints! I even found the "gizzard" delicious for the first time. * "Matsusaka Beef Rib Roast with Lotus Root and XO Sauce" ... 5.0 I've never had anything this delicious! Every drop of the sauce at the end was delicious. * "Shark Fin White Soup with Grilled Rice Ball" ... 6.0 I felt a little unsatisfied with the initial amount of shark fin, but I was completely satisfied in the end! The taste was the best I've ever had, and the grilled rice ball was amazing! The tongue-tingling sensation in the aftertaste was the best! * "Sesame Dumplings" ... 4.0 Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and the filling was juicy. Delicious! * "Mango Pudding" ... 3.8 A comforting ordinary taste at the very end. Thank you for the feast! Conclusion: This lineup at this price is fantastic! The only things missing are "Swallow's Nest" and "Special Soup". I'm not a fan of "dried sea cucumber", so it's fine that it's not there! I felt a new taste in almost everything, and each dish was a first-time experience of savoring every last drop of sauce or dressing! I was impressed by the technique of numbing the tongue without feeling the Sichuan pepper. However, if I may say one thing, the intense flavors at the end made me wish that the dishes featuring "spiny lobster" could have allowed me to savor more of the lobster meat. It felt like the "bean paste" was overpowering. But personally, this was a top-notch, marvelous restaurant. At this point, I would love to try the 4500 yen regular course next time. ♪ I am always grateful for your "Likes", "Saving the Restaurant", and "Follows". If you leave a comment or ask a question, it would make me very happy. Let's continue to support each other in the future. Thank you very much.

I visited the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon after making a reservation. The place was fully booked on that day, as indicated at the entrance. They had been turning down reservations for weekends over the phone, so I realized it's better to make a reservation early. I opted for the shark fin fried rice course that I had been curious about. The assorted appetizers were all delicious, but I particularly liked the shrimp mayo stir-fry. The combination of fruity acidity and spices, all smoothed out by mayonnaise, was really tasty. The shark fin fried rice had a unique flavor with a numbing spiciness and a fragrance that lingers through your nostrils. The dim sum and desserts were also great. The course was so fulfilling that I was very satisfied. Lunch options start from 2000 yen, and I would like to try other dishes as well.

Before going to Kiyomizu-dera, I visited this restaurant. I had a Japanese-style breakfast, so for lunch, I was craving Chinese food. The A lunch set includes appetizers, two types of dim sum, mapo tofu, rice, pickles, and dessert. The appetizer was a salad with bang bang chicken and seafood, topped with banana chips and nuts. It was enjoyable, with a dressing that was a mix between French and sesame. The dim sum included shrimp dumplings and xiaolongbao, with chewy skins and delicious filling. The mapo tofu looked so delicious when it arrived that I forgot to take a picture. It was shiny, spicy, and flavorful, although the spiciness might not be for everyone. The rice went well with it. The pickles were zasai and tasty. The dessert was almond jelly, light and easy to eat, served with strawberry and mango sauce on the side. I apologize, but I am not good with spices, so I cannot provide a proper evaluation of the mapo tofu. The staff was polite, and if you like Sichuan cuisine, this place would suit your taste. I recommend giving it a try. Rating: 3.75 as of September 2023.

Private kitchen serving high-value Chinese cuisine in Kyoto, near Kiyomizu-Gojo. Visited for the first time with a same-day reservation on a Sunday evening. Upon arrival, a sign saying "Full house today" was displayed. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with only 11 seats. Ordered mapo tofu, Peking duck, and fried rice. Enjoyed the high-value Chinese cuisine in a private kitchen setting. After the meal, the owner saw us off at the entrance. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

Here, I visited a stylish Chinese restaurant near Kiyomizu-Gojo in Kyoto for the Kansai Top 100 Stores Tour, with a reservation made by phone for a holiday lunch. Inside, there are 11 seats available. I ordered the 4,000 yen "S Lunch" course and a draft beer. They also offer more affordable options like the A Lunch and B Lunch for 2,000 yen each. All the lunch courses feature elegant dishes that are Instagram-worthy. The juicy char siu and sweet and sour pork in the appetizer were delicious, and the "XO Sauce Fried Rice" with plenty of char siu and shrimp was exceptional. The signature steamed soup was healthy and comforting. I also noticed other tempting dishes like the shark fin cold noodles, so I plan to visit again in the future. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I finally visited a restaurant I had been wanting to go to for a long time. Here are the dishes I tried: - Assorted Appetizers: This dish included Thai-style Chinese sashimi, steamed chicken with leeks and ginger, Cantonese char siu, jellyfish salad, shrimp, and more. Each appetizer was delicious and packed with the essence of the restaurant. A must-try dish. - Shark's Fin Soup with Miso and Shanghai Crab: The soup had a large piece of shark's fin, but the flavor of the Shanghai crab miso dominated. It's different from traditional shark's fin soup, but still satisfying. - Seafood Stir-Fry (Shrimp with Mayonnaise): I chose shrimp with mayonnaise for this dish. The dish had large shrimp and was mixed with a sweet mayonnaise with pineapple, cranberries, and nuts. It had a tropical flavor that might not be familiar to Japanese tastes. - Sweet and Sour Pork: The pork was fried perfectly, crispy on the outside and tender inside. The dish was well-balanced with sweet vegetables. - Simmered Clams and Eel with Seaweed: The dish had a good flavor with seaweed and clams in a soy sauce broth. However, it felt a bit lacking as a Chinese dish. Overall, the restaurant had high-quality dishes with excellent cooking techniques. Some unique dishes may not suit everyone's taste, but the staff was polite and made the dining experience enjoyable.

Today, I came here to "Chinese Cuisine WEST Hyakumeiten," located along Higashioji Street, close to Kiyomizu Temple. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I saw a sign saying "Today we are fully booked," so I had made a reservation by phone in advance. The dimly lit interior had a kitchen at the back right, a counter with 6 seats, and a table for 4 at the front. The owner, dressed in a chef's uniform, and a cute female staff member were running the place. The menu offered various lunch sets (A, B, C, S) and a luxurious a la carte menu with dishes like shark fin stew. I opted for the A lunch set, which included a cold appetizer of sesame dressing with cold chicken, followed by dim sum with hot and fresh dumplings, and the main dish of mapo tofu. The mapo tofu had a mild spiciness and a rich flavor, with a nice texture from the minced meat and silky tofu. The meal ended with a refreshing mango pudding. The creativity of the appetizer was impressive, and considering the quality of the food, the price of 2000 yen including tax was very reasonable for a top restaurant in Kyoto. I look forward to returning for a leisurely evening with drinks. The service was good. Thank you for the meal. Accessibility note: there is a small step at the entrance, no parking available.

On the second day of my trip to Nara and Kyoto, I traveled from Nara to Kyoto, dropped off my luggage at the hotel, and then headed to Kawaramachi. I took a city bus to Hachijo for a lunch reservation at two different courses, A and B. A Course (2000 yen): - Appetizer: Stick chicken with seafood, crunchy jellyfish, and the umami of sea bream, mixed with banana chips and nuts, creating a delicious and crunchy texture. - Dim sum: Shumai and crystal dumplings. - Mapo tofu: Not too spicy but rich in flavor, goes well with rice. - Dessert: Mango pudding. B Course (2000 yen): - Same appetizer, dim sum, and dessert as A course. - XO fried rice: Fluffy fried rice with a rich flavor. - Steamed soup: Plenty of Chinese medicinal herbs, seems good for the body. I preferred the A course over the B course for lunch. The high-quality dishes at a reasonable price of 2000 yen were quite a deal. However, I am also interested in enjoying various dishes while drinking alcohol at night. The restaurant was fully booked on that day, and even walk-in customers were turned away. Foreign tourists were also present but were declined due to the full reservation. It's a popular spot. With only a counter and one table, it's important to make a reservation early. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Located near the midpoint between Higashiyama Gojo and Higashiyama Shichijo, I made a reservation and visited this popular restaurant that incorporates Kyoto cuisine into Chinese cuisine, which has been selected as a Bib Gourmand and one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. There are three lunch courses (A-C) and a luxurious shark fin course (S) available. I had a hard time choosing between A and B, but ended up ordering both. The appetizers, such as Bang Bang Chicken and seafood, were fresh and delicious. The dim sum included succulent shrimp dumplings and flavorful shumai. The steamed soup in course B was nourishing and filled with various ingredients. The XO fried rice was perfectly balanced with diced shrimp and char siu. The spicy Mapo Tofu in course A was accompanied by rice and vegetables. The dessert, a smooth almond tofu with mango and berry sauce, was a delightful ending to the meal. Overall, the food was elegantly prepared and delicious, with great value for money. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to trying other dishes in the future.

Enjoy the taste of a high-end restaurant at a reasonable price! The concept of "Watamiya Cuisine Sumiyoshi" seems to be a new sensation of Chinese course incorporating Kyoto cuisine, with finely detailed pricing. They recently received a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide. The Chinese courses are exceptional and satisfying, exceeding their prices. The à la carte menu is extensive, catering flexibly to preferences and portion sizes. The cuisine is a blend of Cantonese and Sichuan styles, leaning more towards Sichuan. The dim sum is particularly delicious. Chef Sumiyoshi often visits popular and renowned restaurants on holidays for culinary inspiration, which is reflected in his refined dishes.

I wanted to have Chinese food for lunch, so I chose a course that includes shark fin fried rice at a restaurant where Sumiyoshi-san has won a Bib Gourmand. Everything was delicious! It's essential to make a reservation in advance because all the walk-in customers couldn't get a table. Once you order tea, they will keep refilling it with hot water, so you can drink it throughout your meal.

On Saturday from 11:30, we made a reservation for 2 people and visited. We chose the 2000 yen course with mapo tofu. First, we had the appetizer "Bang Bang Chicken and Fresh Fish," which was sea bream that day. It was sticky and sweet. The Bang Bang Chicken was served with jellyfish and other condiments. It had a unique combination of ingredients like dried bananas, nuts, myoga, and daikon, but the taste and texture were great and delicious. Next, we had 2 dim sum dishes: xiaolongbao and shrimp shumai. The plump shrimp in them was delicious. We were already getting full when the main dish of mapo tofu arrived with rice. The flavor was not too strong, but the Sichuan pepper gave it a punch and a very mellow taste. I had been refraining from drinking because I had driven there, but I couldn't resist anymore. I added a Malt beer for 800 yen. Lastly, we had mango pudding. As a mango lover, it was the perfect way to end the meal. Considering the quality, taste, and portion, I thought 2000 yen was a steal. I would definitely like to visit again.

The S lunch set for 4000 yen includes 5 appetizers instead of the advertised 4. The jellyfish, char siu, steamed chicken with scallion sauce, angel shrimp, and snapper sashimi with XO sauce were all delicious. The jellyfish was particularly well seasoned and my favorite. The shrimp dumplings and shumai had a soft and tender skin. The steamed soup with shark fin was packed with ingredients like longan, wolfberry, jujube, lotus seeds, turnip, chicken meatballs, sweet potatoes, rice cakes, prawns, dried shiitake mushrooms, and shark fin. It felt like it could easily cost around 3000 yen on its own. The garlic coconut fried chicken, fried meatballs, and tender black vinegar pork were all delicious. The variety of vegetables in the dishes made it enjoyable. The sauce was light and tasty, so I ended up eating it with a spoon. The mapo tofu had a refreshing touch of green Sichuan pepper, with the perfect balance of oil and spiciness. The XO fried rice with shrimp and char siu had a great flavor. The mango pudding and sesame dumplings were a great value for money and offered a fun change in taste. I would like to try adding individual items next time, and since only water was served, I ordered tea.

I was looking for a convenient Chinese restaurant in town and came across this place with good reviews. I ordered the ¥8,500 course and was very satisfied with the taste and portion size. It's rare to find a place where I instantly feel that the food matches my taste and is delicious. I couldn't resist ordering the XO fried rice, which was also amazing, but I ended up completely full. I would love to visit this place again as I think everything on the menu would be delicious.

I was lucky to be able to visit the restaurant with a same-day reservation. The restaurant has 1 table seat and 6 counter seats, so I think reservations are necessary. There is no parking lot, but there are many coin parking lots nearby, so it is easy to go by car. However, during the autumn foliage season, some parking lots have no upper limit, so I recommend checking carefully before parking. I sat at the counter in line. There are A~C and S menus, but I ordered the shark fin appearance course that was written on the sign in front of the store. My partner ordered the S course. The appetizer assortment included shark fin sashimi!! It was explained as sashimi, but I couldn't really tell. The sea bream sashimi that came out together was delicious. Next, two types of dim sum. The skin was thin and had a chewy texture, and it was delicious. The soup had various ingredients and warmed my body. The taste was light, but the dashi was rich and delicious. Shrimp mayonnaise. This was a unique dish with plenty of fruit, and it had a light taste. And the main dish, shark fin in appearance. A hot pot with egg fried rice on top, and a generous amount of shark fin. The taste was gentle. Finally, sesame dumplings and almond tofu. By the way, the sweet and sour pork from the S course that my partner ordered was really delicious. Overall, the taste is gentle, so it may be a bit lacking for those who want a more intense Chinese flavor, but I liked it as a Kyoto-style Chinese restaurant. However, at four thousand yen for lunch, it may be a bit expensive, making it a bit difficult to visit.

One of the reasons for coming to Kyoto. I arrived earlier than the scheduled time, so I took a walk around the area. I was soothed by the traditional Kyoto townscape and got some light exercise, feeling refreshed. Just before the opening time, I was allowed into the shop by the owner. I ordered: B Lunch... 2,000 yen * Appetizers (Bang Bang Chicken, Seafood) * Dim Sum 2 kinds * Steamed Soup * XO Fried Rice * Today's Dessert C Lunch... 3,000 yen * Assorted appetizers * Steamed Soup * Dim Sum 2 kinds, Fried items 2 kinds * Shrimp Chili, Rice, Pickles * Today's Dessert * Sweets Also, my family ordered the C Lunch, so I had a little taste. In conclusion, it was a very satisfying and great value lunch. Each dish had faithful and carefully crafted flavors, with the appetizers, steamed soup, and the fried chicken from the C course being particularly surprisingly delicious. Personally, just thinking about it makes me eager to eat it again. The Bang Bang Chicken appetizer had amazing ingredients. In addition to common ingredients, it included thick and crunchy jellyfish, banana chips, crispy burdock root, nuts, etc... a surprising and stylish combination that once you start eating, you can't stop. The steamed soup had a very compassionate flavor that seemed to have been made with a lot of care. It included ingredients that felt good for the body, making you feel like a calm person just by eating it. It is called "This Month's" steamed soup, so the ingredients used may change depending on the month. I was happy to see my favorite yuba included. The garlic coconut-flavored fried chicken was so delicious that it was a shock when I tasted it. I always thought that simple was best for fried chicken, but I was surprised. I think the owner, who seems to have a craftsman-like quality, and the cheerful and kind staff make a great team. I felt like my world expanded a little bit again. I would like to visit again and maybe try takeout. Thank you for the meal.

Sunday 11:33 Visited the private kitchen restaurant Sumiyoshi that I had always wanted to visit. The access was personally difficult, but finally visited with my daughter. There were no other customers, it's a small restaurant with a few seats at the counter. Option A for 2,000 yen includes appetizer, two kinds of tempura, mapo tofu with rice and pickles, and dessert of the day. Option B for 2,000 yen includes appetizer, two kinds of tempura, steamed soup, XO sauce fried rice, and dessert of the day. There are also options C and D, which become more luxurious. This time, we chose the basic A and B. My daughter doesn't like spicy food, so I had the mapo tofu from A, and my daughter had the fried rice from B. 11:39 Appetizers arrived. Both A and B had the same dish. It was a salad with plenty of sea bream and shikwasa. It was a mix salad with lots of ingredients like dried fruits, bananas, nuts, Chinese black fungus, fried burdock, coriander, etc., with a citrus power from shikwasa that made it delicious and elegant. 11:52 Two kinds of tempura arrived. The steam when opening the steamer was exciting. We ate it with vinegar soy sauce. They also provided chili oil. The tempura was hot and delicious, making us happy. 11:59 The main dishes arrived one after another. As expected, the mapo tofu was like magma. But the spiciness was just right for me. It was a comfortable level of spiciness that didn't require me to endure it. However, it was too spicy for my daughter. The steamed soup had plenty of nutritious ingredients. It was very hot, and when I asked my daughter about the taste, she said she burned her tongue, haha. I'm sorry. I should have waited a bit longer. The soup had a slightly sour taste. The fried rice, I usually don't eat it willingly, but this fried rice here was extremely delicious. It had plenty of umami ingredients like small shrimp, minced pork similar to Jinhua ham, finely chopped eggs, and a texture that made me wonder how it was achieved. Not greasy, only full of umami, this fried rice was praised by both of us. We probably said it was delicious multiple times. 12:27 Dessert was mango pudding. We were very full, so I was glad it wasn't something like sesame dumplings that would fill us up, haha. It was a refined yet satisfying Chinese cuisine. All the dishes were delicious, so I will definitely come back. (I also want to try my favorite sweet and sour pork) On the way back, the chef even saw us off. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I went to Sumiyoshi, a private kitchen specializing in Chinese cuisine, with my girlfriend. It had been a while since we had Chinese food, so we opted for the 12,500 yen course. We were both impressed by the quality and value of the dishes. It was delicious and worth the price. My girlfriend also enjoyed it, so we are planning to try the budget-friendly course next time, which focuses on local Chinese dishes. #Sumiyoshi #PrivateKitchenSumiyoshi #Chinese #ChineseCuisine #ChineseFood #LocalChinese #KyotoChinese #KyotoGourmet #KyotoDinner #KiyomizuGojo #Tabelog #TabelogHighRating #TabelogTop5000 #Michelin #MichelinBibGourmand #KyotoMichelin #Foodies #Foodstagram #FoodLovers
