Namaste. I am the self-proclaimed Curry King. August 21st. Someone started shouting recently in the hot East Tokyo area. A new and attractive restaurant has quietly opened in the East Tokyo area. Opened in March 2022, the Indian-Nepalese restaurant "Spice Garden" has invaded! This place, of course, has everyone's favorite Butter Chicken and Naan Curry, but there are also special menu items that are finely crafted. The Nepalese Special Thali, the national dish of Nepal, is not just your typical Dal Bhat. The salad dressing alone is delicious, almost strangely delicious. I wonder if they sell the dressing separately? If I were rich and ran out of dressing in my mansion, I would definitely want to buy this. That's how good it is. I chose the Mutton Curry Extra Spicy. The rich gravy with plenty of vegetables has a great taste. The slightly thick dal is also rich in flavor, the Saag with Nepalese Sichuan pepper is interesting, and the Golbheda Achar (tomato sauce) is a fresh type with Nepalese Sichuan pepper. And the Murako Achar (radish pickle) is an intensely spicy and fermented delicacy. And here is where the specialness truly shines. It includes a luxurious mix of Bhutanese offal meat. The mix of different cuts of mutton meat provides various textures, creating an incredibly delicious experience. This set is quite a deal for 1500 yen. While Shin-Okubo may be the reigning king of Nepalese cuisine, there are now Nepalese restaurants scattered all over the place. And many of them are of high quality. "Spice Garden" is undoubtedly one of them. So, I have no choice but to loudly proclaim once again that East Tokyo is hot right now! I've been thinking lately that maybe the media will soon feature a special on "East Tokyo is Hot Right Now!" If that happens, I might finally receive an offer. Well, I'm quite busy, you see. But if an offer does come, I will consider it positively. So, media folks, feel free to reach out. For now, miraculously, my schedule for the next three years is wide open.

Located about a 15-minute walk from Kameari and 20 minutes from Ayase. I arrived at around 11:30 and seemed to be the first customer. I didn't hesitate and ordered the Special Curry Set, which comes with salad and a drink (I chose iced chai) for 1650 yen. Even though it wasn't on the menu, they also included papad. The portion was amazing. The lentils in the dal curry were plentiful and slightly sweet, very delicious. The mutton curry was a bit salty, but it was packed with ingredients. The mixed bhutan and side dishes were all tasty. The amount of food for this price was very satisfying. By the time I left, the restaurant was almost full. I savored every bite of the dal curry and finished everything. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

Nepalese cuisine. It was delicious with no strong flavors! I wanted to try a sweet dessert or dish, so I visited and asked. Instead of dessert, they served a slightly sweet fried doughnut-like treat with dried fruits in a ball shape. It was sweet and tasty! I will definitely come back. I ordered a beer set (but changed it to hot chai since I don't drink alcohol). I had Keema curry and spinach shrimp curry, both with medium spiciness. The Keema had a sweet minced meat flavor and the spinach shrimp was delicious with plump shrimp. The Seekh Kebab on top of the naan was juicy and easy to eat. The Chicken Tikka was tender and tasty with no unpleasant smell. The chai was also incredibly delicious. I will visit again for sure. Thank you for the meal!

New Year Special Set! Delicious Tari with Dampokht and Serrati, plus Gulab Jamun all for 2,000 yen! Pour Dampokht soup over a mountain of Basmati rice, soak Serrati in sweet chai... it's just the best.

It's hard to say that it's a 15-minute walk from Kameari Station, but it was worth the visit! I want to come back again. It seems that there are many takeout customers during weekday lunchtime, so there was always a lot of coming and going. I should have looked at the menu on the whiteboard before ordering, but I still came for the Chicken Biryani. I wanted to try Nepalese dishes like Dal Bhat... (laughs) This time, I had:
- Chicken Biryani with yogurt raita and salad, with a drink. Since they didn't have chai, I had lassi instead.
- Butter Chicken Curry with naan bread.
The Chicken Biryani I came for was as spicy as I imagined, with bone-in chicken pieces scattered throughout (laughs). The portion size is good! Lunch sets A and B are both available for under 1,000 yen. The salad dressing is homemade and trustworthy, unlike some Nepalese restaurants that use store-bought dressings. Sorry for the bias. The menu is extensive, and I like the quiet atmosphere of the place. Next time, I'll make sure to carefully check the whiteboard and Twitter! Visited around November 2022.

I visited the restaurant after seeing their Twitter posts for 3 times. The Weekly Set (1,750 yen) consisted of fried rice with achar, fish chili, sag, and mutton choela. I asked for medium spiciness for the fried rice, but it was quite spicy. It had a light and slightly kimchi-like aroma. The Kari Mirchi Mutton (1,250 yen) was creamy with a black pepper flavored nut paste. The mutton was cooked and fried champ. I enjoyed it while nibbling on green chili. The Dill Chicken (1,100 yen) had two types of finely chopped dill, almost like a paste. The chicken was wing tips. I had it with green chili achar at the side. Everything I tried here was delicious.

I have visited numerous curry restaurants, but the curry here is truly delicious! Perhaps they put butter on the naan? Both the curry and naan are the best in Adachi Ward, I believe. Even when I have no appetite, I finished everything in one go. The cooking skills of the main chef, who also worked at a certain restaurant, are truly amazing! The lunch set for 750 yen is also very filling. I saw on the menu that they also have biryani, so I definitely want to try that next time. The interior of the restaurant is well air-conditioned. There is a faint sound of the TV playing, so you can enjoy your meal in a calm atmosphere. The staff are very kind, offering to refill your water and providing a fresh towel when you need to take medicine after the meal. *The special menu in the photos will be available again from August, can't wait to try it. *The last three photos were borrowed from Spice Garden's Twitter (https://twitter.com/RajuPan61085938)

Paprika floats in a creamy cashew nut paste with chunks of manga meat. A new style different from korma. Served with basmati rice and paratha on the side. "Gutuka" seems to refer to a meat cut rather than a dish name.

Kameari, AYASE station is a bit far from both, so it's not easy to drop by, but this authentic Nepalese and Indian restaurant is worth it. The exterior may seem a bit intimidating, but the taste is excellent. The Nepalese Special Set comes with a plate of curry, salad, and other side dishes for 1500 yen, which is a great value. The Chicken Tikka is also delicious, with 4 pieces for 700 yen. The restaurant is small with only about 4 tables, but takeaway of naan and curry is 5,600 yen. While eating, there were quite a few Uber deliveries. Alcohol is also cheap, with beer priced at 350 yen. After trying a variety of dishes, we were pleasantly surprised by the taste and cost performance, spending less than 4,000 yen for two people. I would definitely like to revisit this restaurant when I'm in Kameari.

When I googled nearby restaurants, I found one that had "board" and "handwritten menu" in the reviews, so I decided to check it out. I ran into someone I knew in Takasago. The restaurant opened on March 1st, and the board menu will start in April. For my first visit, I ordered the Nepali Thali (1,000 yen) and the Special Thali (1,500 yen), choosing the spicy option. Both dishes were delicious, especially the Sag with coriander seeds and the Golbheda Achar with cilantro and mint. The portions of rice and side dishes were generous, and I only finished half of the rice portion. I had two soft drinks, one before the meal (lassi) and one after (a fragrant sweet chai). For my second visit, I ordered the Champ Korma (1,200 yen) with medium spice level, choosing the Porota as the main dish. The creamy Korma came with 3 pieces of Champ and 2 thick Porotas. I could choose between naan or rice for a refill.

I heard that there is a delicious Indian-Nepalese restaurant about a 10-minute walk from Kameari Station, so I visited for the first time. It seems like they have been renovated or changed ownership, as they were offering delicious achaar and sel roti as part of their grand opening celebration. The menu ranges from standard lunch set curries to authentic Indian curries and tandoori dishes. The special dish for the grand opening was mutton biryani, and when I saw the price was only 1000 yen, I had to order it! The biryani that came out was garnished with tomatoes, cucumbers, boiled eggs, and the aroma of ginger, cilantro, ghee, and basmati rice was tantalizing. It was filled with bone-in mutton pieces and was a great value for the price. The whole spices that occasionally popped up were authentic and impressive! It was refreshing to eat with a dollop of raita, and I couldn't stop eating with a spoon. Oh, and the dressing on the salad was different from the typical Indian-Nepalese restaurant dressings, and it was incredibly delicious. I was very satisfied with my experience! I heard that the owner and chef has worked in numerous successful restaurants and will soon be offering trendy dishes like dal bhat and Nepalese khana set. I have high expectations for this restaurant!

It was my first visit to Spice Garden, located about a 15-minute walk from Kameari Station around 1:00 pm. There were three customers already inside when I entered, and two male staff members were working. The staff seemed to be from India (there was an Indian flag inside the restaurant). The menu had lunch sets A (choose from 5 options for 750 yen), lunch sets B (choose from 6 options for 850 yen), and lunch special sets (priced from 1000 to 1200 yen). I chose the B set for 850 yen and selected the Butter Chicken Curry from the 6 options available. When asked about the spiciness level, I requested it to be on the sweeter side. I chose Naan over rice and also ordered a Mango Lassi as my drink. Within about 3 minutes, the Mango Lassi and the salad from the set were served. The Mango Lassi had an authentic taste, sweet but with a strong mango flavor. The salad was fresh and the dressing complemented it well. Shortly after, the Butter Chicken Curry and Naan were served. The Naan was surprisingly large in size. The Butter Chicken Curry was delicious with a slightly tangy taste. I found the sweetness level to be a mistake, as it would have been better with a normal or slightly spicy taste. The Naan was slightly sweet but had a chewy texture, which I enjoyed. When I had eaten about 80% of the Naan, the staff offered a refill, suggesting a change to rice if I preferred. Since I liked the Naan, I asked for another serving. The freshly baked Naan was delicious, but two pieces of such size made me quite full. Overall, it was a very satisfying lunch set. Although it was my first visit, I appreciated the attentive service of the staff, which was very Japanese in style. I look forward to trying the curry with normal or slightly spicy level next time. Thank you for the meal.

Biryani pork mushroom curry
The biryani here doesn't taste like biryani, more like an Indian-style curry fried rice. Personally, I really like it.

As of January 30th, with no reviews yet, I decided to conquer the curry restaurants around Ayase Station. However, when I visited Asian Asian near the station, it was unexpectedly closed. Later I found out that they are closed on Mondays. So, I ended up visiting another restaurant further away from the station. Despite its distance, it was surprisingly crowded with many customers. The restaurant allows smoking even during lunchtime, so there was a hint of cigarette smoke in the air. The lunch sets range from 700 yen, which includes salad and a drink, with free refills of naan and rice. I ordered the Spice Set (950 yen) which allows you to try two different curries - mutton curry and shrimp curry. I chose the normal spiciness level and had an iced chai as my drink. The salads arrived first, followed by the curries in about 10 minutes. The shrimp curry was creamy with two large and juicy peeled prawns, while the mutton curry was delicious with the flavor of lamb melting into the curry. The naan, though on the smaller side, was recommended for refills as you eat. Despite usually opting for extra rice, I found the naan to be a perfect match for both curries. The restaurant is located in front of the "Tokyo Automobile University," and after 12 o'clock, students would flock in, causing the small space to be quite chaotic. Most students opted for the exclusive 500 yen bento for Tokyo Automobile University students, which also included a drink - a great deal. The staff handled the rush efficiently, even with a few other regular customers. While I won't be returning due to the smoking allowance, the popularity of the place seems to speak for itself. Thank you for the meal. P.S. It's strange that as of January 2018, the restaurant's genre on Tabelog is listed as Spanish cuisine. I wonder if they also serve Spanish dishes for dinner?
