Celebration Sandwich (4 pieces for ¥1080) and Tsuru no Kono (¥750) *Limited to the main store. I went to Ishimura Manseido main store to purchase the "Celebration Sandwich," a lucky charm sweet that was born from the iconic "Hakata Te Ippon" for special occasions in Hakata. The cookie in the shape of a hand, reminiscent of the iconic hand gesture, is filled with plenty of caramel cream. Inside the cream, there are caramelized crunchy walnuts, adding a delightful texture to it. The cookie is made with 100% butter from Kyushu, and the caramel cream has a slightly bitter and less sweet taste. Additionally, I tried the new sensation ice sweet "Tsuru no Kono," made with marshmallows exclusive to this store. Since it is made to order, it takes about 10 minutes, so I recommend ordering it before shopping. The freshly made marshmallows are soft and go perfectly with the vanilla ice cream. Both treats were delicious. The Celebration Sandwich is also available at locations such as Tenjin Mitsukoshi, Hakata Station Ming, and Fukuoka Airport, making it a great choice for celebrations, souvenirs, gifts, or home enjoyment.

During a business trip to Fukuoka, I visited the main store of Ishimura Manseido to try the local sweets. They have a shop and a seating area where you can enjoy drinks and desserts. Since I was full, I opted for a drink called Natsugumo Squash (¥580). It consisted of lemon squash with a fluffy mousse on top, which seemed to be based on marshmallow. It was unique and interesting, but I had to wait for about 10 minutes for the fluffy part, which felt a bit too long. The cup design and handwritten menu added to the nice atmosphere. Overall, it was a good experience.

I had some time before check-in, so I was taken to this place by some women who love sweets. It was my first visit to "Tsurunoko Stand." I see, it's a popular spot for older couples and young couples to come and go. It is famous for its "Tsukemen" noodles served with a side of rice.

I tried a lemon squash with a marshmallow on top! First of all, it looks cute!! The fluffy marshmallow with lemon sauce on top creates a sweet and sour combination! The lemon squash surprisingly has a strong punch with a good balance of bitterness and refreshing taste!! Delicious!!! It helped soothe my throat on a hot day♡

Huh? The restaurant's opening hours on Tabelog said 9:00, but it's actually 10:00... Oh well, I'll wait a bit and go inside. I was looking forward to trying the sweets in the review's picture, but they're not available... When I showed it to the staff, they didn't know about it either. I got a Senkai Monaka for 216 yen with my card. I tried to sit on a tree pillar outside to eat it, but the red bean paste was in a separate bag and it was too tough to open... I had to borrow scissors from the shop to open it. The Monaka was crispy as expected from being pre-packaged, and the red bean paste was sweet and delicious. I'll try somewhere else next time.

I found these souvenirs to give out with a shelf life of about 2 weeks, priced at 367 yen for a pack of four. Tsurunoko is well-known, but they have seasonal flavors, and this one has a sweet Hinatakan orange bean paste inside! The fluffy marshmallow dough complements it well and tastes delicious!

After exiting the Kawabata ticket gate at Nakasu Kawabata Station and taking exit 6, turn left and walk straight towards the Hakata Riverain Mall. When you reach Showa Street, turn left and you will see Hotel Okura. Cross the signal in front of Hotel Okura and you will find a shop. Inside Ishimura Manseido, there is a shop called Tsurunokonoko Kobo where I tried their specialty, Tsurunokonoko. It is a unique dessert that consists of fluffy marshmallows on top, fizzy marshmallows at the bottom, and vanilla ice cream in the middle, perfect for marshmallow lovers. It offers a new texture experience with its fluffy, cool, and fizzy textures. It is a masterpiece from Ishimura Manseido, a marshmallow maker with 100 years of history. Please note that Tsurunokonoko Kobo's business hours are 10:30-18:00, which may differ from the shop's hours. Apart from Tsurunokonoko, they also offer Natsugumo Squash, Hakata Iced Tea, and Hakata Roasted Tea. For souvenirs, I purchased a box of Hinata Lemon Tsurunoko (4 pieces) and Celebratory Sand (2 pieces). The Hinata Lemon Tsurunoko features a fluffy marshmallow dough wrapped around Hinata lemon paste, a must-try for marshmallow enthusiasts. Each piece is 46kcal and uses seasonal fruit "Hinata Lemon" from Miyazaki Prefecture. I also tried the Celebratory Sand, a delicacy made by sandwiching caramel cream and caramelized walnuts between cookies made with 100% Kyushu-produced butter. The cookie's texture is quite enjoyable. Each piece is 168kcal. This shop is conveniently located near the hotel and is a great place to buy souvenirs.

Established in the 38th year of the Meiji era, this long-established Japanese confectionery shop recently opened its new main store in 2021. I was surprised to find that despite being a long-established shop, the new store was bright and modern with a warm wooden interior. The right side of the store is an eat-in space, while the left side is a shop area. It felt more like a commemorative hall than a traditional Japanese confectionery shop. I visited on a weekday just before 1 pm. I tried the following items: - Tsurunokonoko (750 yen) - Kenjo Tsurunoko (3 pieces for 730 yen) - Hinata Natsu Tsurunoko (seasonal limited edition, 4 pieces for 367 yen) * I received a discount and free sweets by registering my email and LINE account. The famous confectionery in Hakata is called "Tsurunoko," which is a marshmallow filled with yellow bean paste and has been made for over 100 years. I wasn't very familiar with it, so I was curious about trying it. Is marshmallow considered a traditional Japanese confectionery? Does it go well with bean paste? These were some of the questions that crossed my mind. I visited the main store to receive a special stamp and to try a sweet that is only available in the main store with a 30-minute shelf life. The confectioner makes the sweet in front of you, and that's how I got to taste the "Tsurunokonoko." When I visited, there were no other customers, and it took about 10 minutes from ordering to completion. The marshmallow was really fluffy and white, with vanilla ice cream inside, giving it a texture similar to a snow cone. I found it interesting that the "Tsurunoko" actually inspired the creation of the snow cone dessert. I also bought the "Hinata Natsu Tsurunoko" as a souvenir, which was a perfect match for my taste. The fluffy marshmallow with the sweet and sour Hinata Natsu bean paste inside was incredibly delicious. I wish I had bought more! The veteran confectioner-made Kenjo Tsurunoko was larger than the regular Tsurunoko, with a generous amount of soft bean paste and a mild sweetness. It was delicious. Be sure to check out the shop's Instagram for more information. * The "Goka-in" is like a shrine stamp that can only be obtained at the main stores of Japanese confectionery shops affiliated with the National Famous Confectionery Industry Cooperative Association. - Genre: Japanese sweets, Western sweets - Area: Susaki area, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City - Access: 5 minutes on foot from Nakasu-Kawabata Station - Parking: Not available - Credit card payment: Not available - Frequency of use: Multiple times - Number of reviews: 1st review On this day, I casually visited the "Ishimura Manseido Main Store". - Exterior and interior: This is a Japanese sweets shop located in Susaki, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. With a history that spans over 100 years, it is a renowned confectionery in Hakata. - Seating: Not available. - Menu composition: Featuring their signature Tsurunoko, as well as items like Tamago Somen, Senbei, Daifuku, and even Western sweets. The items I ordered are as follows: - Sengai Monaka (216 yen) → Including tax. It's been a while since I visited Ishimura Manseido's main store. This "Sengai" is said to refer to a monk in Hakata, so it must be famous locally. The Monaka, enjoyed with the monk's seal, has a refined sweetness and a crispy texture. What stands out is the separate packaging of the skin and filling, making you feel that they want you to enjoy it deliciously. - Strong points: Many delicious and popular traditional Japanese sweets are still available! - Customer service: Polite. - Summary: It's a well-known fact that Ishimura Manseido actually created White Day. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the treat! ^ ^

Fukuoka City Hakata Ward [Ishimura Banshodo Main Store] is a traditional Japanese and Western confectionery shop where White Day originated. The shop sells Fukuoka's famous confectionery "Tsurunoko," which can only be found at the main store of the established Ishimura Banshodo founded in 1905. I tried the limited-time treat "Tsurunoko" with a 30-minute expiration date, which is only available at the main store. This special treat, made by a 40-year veteran confectioner right in front of you, consists of freshly made marshmallow filled with custard cream and vanilla ice cream inside! Look for the large curtain with "Hakata's Senga" written on it as a sign of the store. For a Hakata souvenir, I recommend the fluffy marshmallow "Tsurunoko" from Ishimura Banshodo Main Store.

I had been curious about the visuals of this place for a while, and since it is close to my regular accommodation for business trips in Fukuoka, I decided to visit for the first time. The interior has a sweets section and a few seats for dining. The taste is indescribable. It is delicious, but I couldn't help feeling that it was just average because the visuals were so strong and I had high expectations. I recommend it to those who like sweet treats!

I went on a business trip to Hakata, so I decided to look for souvenirs to partially reimburse the department for the business trip expenses. I came across this "Ishimura Sand" which I had never seen before, even though there are Ishimura shops all over the place. The name sounded like a typical souvenir, so I chose this one. It may sound strange, but it was interesting. I bought one to write a review, as usual. It's a butter sand with a chocolate flavor, which was unexpected for Ishimura. It had a nutty flavor, and when I checked the ingredients, it turned out to be walnuts. It may not be suitable for occasions other than celebrations, but it was an excellent confectionery.

The shop is about a 3-minute walk from Nakasu Kawabata. Recently, it has become famous for its marshmallow sweets at "Tsurunokonoka." It is also commonly used for souvenirs. This time, I purchased the "celebration sandwich." Each piece is small but seems a bit pricey. The unique feature is that they are shaped like hands. The taste is characterized by a bitter flavor, with a hint of adult sweetness. The cookies are crispy, and the walnuts inside provide a crunchy texture.

I tried this traditional sweet and it really reminded me of the history of foreign influences in Japan. It's like a sweetened silk thread egg, a unique treat. It may not be that rare in modern Japan, but thinking about the past, it must have been a luxurious delicacy. The boxed egg noodle sweets not only taste good but also look beautiful. It feels extravagant to cut them up and display them before eating. I personally didn't eat them with my hands, I took a bite like eating noodles.

I had only eaten marshmallows that were cheap snacks from the supermarket before. I thought of them as just a simple snack that could be made delicious by toasting them over a fire to make the inside gooey. However, after trying the Tsurunoko from this shop, my perspective changed. It was a sophisticated and elegant treat. In particular, the Kongo Tsurunoko was exceptional, with no hint of egg white smell and a high-quality texture that made eating it a truly luxurious experience.

Freshly made marshmallows at Ishimura Manseido in Fukuoka, Hakata, Nakasu Kawabata. Have you heard of Tsurunoko, a famous Hakata confectionery? The marshmallows have a shelf life of 30 minutes! Tsurunoko for 750 yen is a light and slightly sweet marshmallow that melts in your mouth, with a refreshing touch of vanilla ice cream. It's so light that you can have as many as you want! Also recommended are the Hakata green tea for 450 yen and Yukinokosmoa for 580 yen. Despite being full of marshmallow, they are so light that you won't feel heavy. Ishimura Manseido is a must-visit for marshmallow lovers!

This is a gift we received, a caramel brulee from "BON'CINQ", a Western confectionery brand by Ishimura Manseido. "BON'CINQ" offers vintage ange, baked goods gifts, and more. The concept of "BON'CINQ" is inspired by the spirit of Paris, France. In French, "BON" means "good" and CINQ means "five". The brand started with five products. The caramel brulee is a Baumkuchen caramelized by hand to ensure even browning. It is a moist and slightly bitter delight... or so they say. We shared it with our family, but unfortunately, no one in our household enjoyed it. The caramel layer around it is too sweet. It almost feels like an assault of sweetness. When we scraped off the caramel and just had the Baumkuchen, it was finally enjoyable. Since it was a gift, I'll just say thank you for the meal.

I recently discovered this traditional Japanese confectionery shop for the first time. I also learned about a Fukuoka specialty called Tsurunoko for the first time. I was surprised to find out that they have a dining area in the shop, where they offer original sweets exclusive to the main store. One of their limited edition sweets is called "Tsurunoko no Ko." It has a cute appearance like a child of something unknown. When I tried it, I found it unexpectedly bouncy and not overly sweet. It may not be exceptionally delicious, but the element of surprise and simple sweetness made it interesting.

I stopped by a famous shop in Nakasu Kawabata in Hakata, which was surprisingly selling grilled dumplings for 180 yen in front of the shop. I was drawn in by the customers enjoying the dumplings in front of the shop, so I decided to visit. This shop is extremely popular in Fukuoka and has outlets in shopping malls and various places. On holidays, you can always see many customers beyond the shop curtain. The dumplings, grilled by the owner, and generously coated with sauce, had a deliciously fragrant taste. I would like to try the classic "Tsurunoko" next time.

The beautiful storefront with wood and white noren catches the eye. Around 4 pm on a weekday, only one other group of customers. Various sweets, including the famous Crane's Child, are displayed. This time, I decided to use the café space at the end. The staff at the store were friendly and approachable, but the café staff seemed a bit cold. One person was in charge of both the register and making the orders. I ordered the marshmallow dessert "Tsurunokono" that I had seen on Instagram. It took some time to make, but the craftsmanship was evident in the beautiful presentation. It looked so cute! It came with a wooden spoon and a hand towel. It was fluffy and jiggly, but it gradually hardened over time, just like a marshmallow should. Inside, there was ice cream or custard-like filling. It was very sweet!
