It's been a while since I had a drink with my former colleague. I was in charge of choosing the restaurant, and I thought of "Kakino Sankoubashi" restaurant. When I called, they said, "You can come from 6:30 pm, with a limit of 2 hours." They also said, "Early arrival is fine," so I made a reservation for 6:15 pm.
The restaurant is located near the Sangokubashi intersection along the Kokutai Road. It's on the 2nd floor of an old building. When you open the door that looks like an office building and go up the stairs, you'll see the kitchen in the center of the floor. Surrounding the kitchen in a U-shape are about 14 counter seats. We ordered the "Today's Shellfish Assortment (2 servings for 7,000 yen)" and the "Today's Vegetable Assortment (2 servings for 1,200 yen)" from the menu, and started with cold sake from Tanaka Rokugo as a chaser for bottled beer.
This place is a seafood (especially shellfish) focused robatayaki restaurant. There is a charcoal grill in front of the counter, and the staff explains while grilling, making it very easy for us. The appetizer was skewered clams, which were lightly grilled and had a faint soy sauce aroma, boosting our excitement from the start. The staff explained and suggested dishes like, "You can have the Turban Shell grilled in a pot as it is, or with added eggs." They also mentioned, "The shrimp will be served with the shell after you eat the meat first." Their explanations and suggestions were polite, and the perfectly grilled dishes were delicious.
We added Imari ware and bottled beer, and as we enjoyed the crab and large clams served one after another, it felt like paradise. Occasionally, walk-in customers were turned away with "We are fully booked with reservations," so reservations are a must. The conversation with my colleague was lively, and we had a very enjoyable meal. Thank you for the feast.
