The purpose of this food walk was to try Mint Chocolate Ice Cream. I visited the cafe on Saturday at 3:00 PM and there was no waiting time. The cafe is located near the south exit of Todaimae Station, just to the left of "Hachinoya" and across from the famous cafe "Dan Aroma". I saw the Mint Chocolate Ice Cream on the cafe's Instagram and thought it would be delicious, so I came to try it. The cafe is known for using stimulating ingredients like ginger and mint in their sweets, which are very tasty. Each dessert has a unique and charming "little chef" vibe that I love.
What I had:
- Mint Chocolate Ice Cream
- Ginger Ale
The Mint Chocolate Ice Cream had a refreshing mint flavor with chocolate chips, waking up my taste buds instantly. The texture was smooth and easy to eat, and the chocolate chips added a nice crunch. The Ginger Ale had plenty of homemade ginger pulp, giving it a strong ginger and spice aroma and taste. It was a memorable drink for me and I was happy to have it again at the cafe.
Food walk route for the day:
Shibuya Station → Cafe Satella (Shibuya) → Stand Banh Mi (Vietnamese cuisine / Gakugeidaigaku) → Little Chef (Cafe / Todaimae) → Coffee Roast VIVACE (Coffee / Todaimae) → Gelateria Aquolina (Gelato / Yutenji) → Goton (Udon / Ikebukuro)

I made a reservation and visited the restaurant. It seemed quite busy, as people who tried to enter without a reservation were being turned away. The customer service was excellent. They made eye contact while talking to me and were attentive. They mentioned that even if I ordered a small portion, I could ask for seconds from the start. I could also order a smaller portion of dessert. The Japanese set meal was chicken pouch stew. I ordered the ginger parfait for dessert. The parfait was so delicious that I think I should have just ordered a regular size. I thought the ginger flavor would be strong, but it was actually subtle yet assertive, making it irresistibly tasty. It was refreshing and didn't leave me feeling heavy after the meal. The Japanese set meal had a gentle flavor, making me want to come back again.

Finally visited the municipal university Little Chef, which I had been longing to go to, for the first time. I absolutely had to try this month's new ginger blancmange and jasmine tea ice cream parfait. It was so delicious and sophisticated that I almost fainted. I don't need any girly vibes in my desserts - I want something rich that would go well with white wine (but I had coffee this time). The fresh taste of the new ginger and the refreshing jasmine tea were just too good. Sometimes when something is so delicious, you just have to close your eyes and savor it. The cafe latte was also delicious! The dishes and the interior design are all so lovely, showcasing the owner's great sense of style in both the food and the decor. It's hard to get a reservation, but I will definitely come back! I also want to visit the wine bar at night!

I arrived a few minutes before the opening time and was the second group in line. Both myself and the customer in front of me did not have a reservation. It seems like reservations are generally required, as those without were not allowed in after me. It's best to visit during the opening time and expect to wait about 30 minutes for the food to be served. The atmosphere allows for a relaxed wait, so it's a nice place to spend some leisurely time. The food is homely yet has a café-like quality, and the Japanese cuisine is delicious. The service is incredibly friendly. It really makes you appreciate the importance of taking time to relax. Overall, it's a great restaurant that reminds you of the value of having a relaxed lifestyle.

I made a reservation for lunch on the weekend and visited. The lunch came with various side dishes, which made it possible to enjoy a healthy and delicious meal without getting bored. It would be great if the prices were a bit more reasonable for everyday use, but considering the variety of dishes, I think the current prices are reasonable given the cost of ingredients. The lunch menu changes daily, so it's nice to be able to eat something different every day. I ordered the mint chocolate ice cream for dessert, which had a nice aroma of fresh mint and a good aftertaste that was perfect after the meal. I will definitely visit again!

I had been curious about little chef, which was introduced by Sakiko Hirano. After taking a bite, I became hooked! The day I visited, the main dish was eggplant tempura. It was incredibly delicious. I think they added a bit of spice, giving it a unique and juicy flavor. I definitely want to eat it again. Not only was the eggplant tempura fantastic, but all the side dishes on the plate were also amazing. They all had a homemade taste that I can't replicate at home. I want to try other dishes as well, so I definitely want to visit again!

I went to eat strawberry gratin. The crispy, fluffy cream and ice cream texture was amazing!! The restaurant gets full quickly for both lunch and tea time, so I recommend going early. The strawberry gratin is limited time only, so I'm looking forward to it again next year!

☑︎ Strawberry Gratin ¥950
☑︎ Little Chef's Japanese set meal ¥1550
I finally got to visit the restaurant I've been wanting to go to! The main reason was the strawberry gratin, which is only available in winter until March 21st. It was amazing with its crispy meringue, vanilla ice cream and strawberry sorbet, and bruleed cream. The balance of flavors was perfect, not too sweet, and the texture was great. I loved it!
The Japanese set meal on this day was "Chicken breast with plum, shiso, and cheese fry". The chicken breast was so tender and delicious, I've never had anything like it before. It came with a variety of side dishes, making it very satisfying. The staff were super friendly and the atmosphere was cozy, making it a wonderful restaurant that lives up to its popularity.
I made a reservation by phone in advance!

I visited Little Chef, a restaurant run by a female owner who is particular about the ingredients. I had been curious about it for a while, but it was always full on weekends, so I finally managed to get in around 12pm on a weekday without having to wait. The menu consists of only one set meal, probably changing weekly. It's nice to be able to enjoy a menu made with seasonal ingredients. I had the lotus root stuffed with minced meat tempura set meal for ¥1,550 (¥1,700 on weekends), and all the side dishes were very carefully made and delicious. The atmosphere of the staff was also good, making it a heartwarming restaurant. They also offer desserts in half sizes, which is a nice touch.

Strawberry gratin was amazing. Seriously delicious. It was a bit moving. The top was crispy. Inside there were strawberry ice cream and vanilla ice cream. Surrounding it were sweet and fresh strawberries. Crushed meringue. The meringue was so delicious that you want to scream. I carefully put it all on the spoon and put it in my mouth all at once, and it was crispy, creamy, crunchy, fizzy, juicy, smooth. Everything was delicious. The strawberry ice cream was incredibly delicious. The fresh strawberries were also great. I encountered a dessert that I didn't want to finish eating for a long time! Delicious, delicious. I love it. I also love lemonade. The scent of cloves. The square ice cubes sparkled. I love the sweetness too. And then, the pudding. I love it too. I love the Little Chef's pudding the most. The bitterness and sweetness are just right. It's bouncy but smooth. I also love the fluffy and rich whipped cream. I have a lot of things I love. Also, I love the darkness of the restaurant. The floor is black. The walls are white. Watching people walking from the dark to the bright outside is nice. I like it. I also like the volume of the music. I like the selection of songs. I like this restaurant. I want to go again. Thank you for the meal. There were more staff members. They provided smart customer service. Custard pudding 650 yen. Mini size strawberry gratin 950 yen. Lemonade 800 yen.

Little chef, a popular cafe located about a 2-minute walk from Todoroki University Station South Exit on the Tokyu Toyoko Line. The owner chef, Yukie Tanaka, was named "Little chef" due to her petite stature. She focuses on making only what she finds delicious, creating "home-cooked meals that cannot be made at home" with care and dedication. Since opening in May 2016, the restaurant has been loved by many locals. The most popular menu item is the Little chef's Japanese set meal, featuring carefully prepared dishes using ingredients like Kyushu soy sauce and Fukuoka miso. The simple seasoning and focus on seasonal ingredients make the dishes stand out. The dessert options are also recommended. The restaurant's interior is beautifully designed with white walls adorned with tiles from various countries and a cozy green atmosphere, creating a welcoming space.

I wanted to eat a set meal of cold soup, so I went to Tokyo Metropolitan University. It has been since last summer, and the white miso cold soup was still delicious. Last year's side dish was fried eggplant, I believe, but today it was spring rolls. The spring rolls were also delicious. In addition, I had a rum raisin cheesecake for dessert. I am full and satisfied. I hope to come back again next year.

There are three shops featured in "Purin Ai" near Tokyo Metropolitan University and Gakugei University. I planned to visit all three shops in one day and couldn't decide whether to start with this one or end with it. I thought they opened at 11:00, but it was actually 12:00. I passed the time by visiting nearby shops, and when I arrived a little early, I secured the third spot in line. The shop had a nice atmosphere. Although they opened at 12:00, they were only serving cafe items that day. I had already decided on my order based on reviews, but I felt like I should order quickly since the staff seemed busy. However, it wasn't the right timing, so I patiently waited. I ordered the purin (pudding) and lemonade. They asked if I wanted the lemonade with carbonated water. Although I sometimes enjoy it, I don't like strong carbonation, so I asked for it with still water. The lemon in the lemonade was peeled, and just looking at it made me expect it to be delicious. The spices were well balanced, adding a subtle nuance and mellowing out the sharpness of the lemon. It wasn't too sweet, so even people who don't like sour drinks might find it enjoyable. It was so delicious that I ended up scooping out all the lemon with a straw. I wish they sold it bottled. The purin was a classic style with a strong egg yolk flavor and a firm bottom layer. The purin itself was adequately sweet, and the accompanying cream was also sweet. The caramel topping was on the borderline between sweetness and bitterness, and it matched the purin perfectly. It was exactly to my taste. I wish I could keep eating it forever. It's a bit far, but I can get there with one transfer, so I definitely want to come back. Thank you for the meal!

Summer. As expected, the pudding is delicious. Smooth and slightly bitter. The cream melts softly. Ah, delicious. I also like the spiciness of the lemonade. I like the music. I like the darkness. The heat is slowly fading away. Lemonade Soda 800 yen. Pudding 600 yen. Terine of sweet summer and plum with yogurt ice cream 950 yen. Total payment amount 2350 yen. I also tried the Terine of sweet summer and plum. It looks like a cool colorful jelly. Chunky fruits. Refreshing yogurt ice cream on top. It was delicious, but I still prefer the pudding. So I ordered another pudding. I am satisfied. On the way back to Yokohama on the Tokyu Toyoko Line, the train I took was a local train, so I hurriedly checked and got off at Todoroki University Station because it was a cafe day at Little Chef. It was a good decision. I want to go again to this cafe. It's not particularly about the customer service. I like this place, this pudding, and this lemonade soda. While I was asleep, it was already autumn.

- Coffee ¥600
The pudding is slightly firm on top and smooth and soft on the bottom, both textures are enjoyable. It has a gentle sweetness that you can easily finish, making it a perfect amount for after a meal. The caramel is slightly bitter and leans towards acidity.
I arrived about 10 minutes before opening, was the second group in line, and the shop opened at 12:07. Around 12:40, the pudding and coffee arrived. When I went a little past 12:00 before, the shop was full and I was told to come back in an hour. This time, I arrived early and was able to enter with ease.

Last summer, I fell in love with a café that served delicious pudding and homemade lemonade. Even though it's already autumn this year, I was thrilled to be able to visit the café again. It's a place I really like. Finally, I revisited the café. The business format has changed slightly now. On this day, they were open all day as a café. I was able to enjoy snacks and drinks in the quiet shop. The pudding was perfect, sweet and slightly bitter, smooth, and a bit chewy at the bottom. The whipped cream on the side was also amazing. The Autumn Fruit and Cinnamon Ice Cream dessert included a large compote of figs, chestnut preserves, and persimmons, along with cinnamon ice cream. Each element had the taste of autumn. I savored every bite. The homemade lemonade, a drink that brought back memories from last summer, was still delicious. It had a nice sweetness and the spices like clove, coriander, cinnamon, and rosemary gave it a unique flavor. I wanted to stay a bit longer, so I ordered another drink. The hot chocolate was almost pure chocolate, thick and hot. The bitterness was just right for that day. Everything was delicious, and I really liked the atmosphere of the café. I want to go back again. Thank you for the wonderful meal. Taste is important, but the atmosphere is also crucial. I cherish the time spent here. Homemade Lemonade 700 yen, Hot Chocolate 850 yen, Pudding 600 yen, Autumn Fruit and Cinnamon Ice Cream 1100 yen, Total Payment 3150 yen.

This café, located near Todai-Daigaku Station, offers a lunch set menu for 1550 yen, which includes a variety of dishes served on a rectangular tray. The set includes tender chicken breast with plum cheese fry, pumpkin salad with raisins and nuts, pickled radish with sesame, nameko and okra with grated daikon, chilled barley miso soup, and black tea. The attention to detail in the presentation and the authentic flavors make this café popular. Despite the limited lunch options, the quality of the food makes it worth a visit. The café was already busy when I arrived, with only two empty tables available. I look forward to trying their desserts on my next visit. If this café were closer, I would definitely become a regular customer.

I had my second visit to this restaurant where my stomach was grabbed. I had the vegetable and pork spring roll set meal and pudding. As the reserved customers arrived at 11:30, I could hear the sound of spring rolls being fried in the kitchen. The sound conveyed the deliciousness, making me excited while waiting. The spring rolls were beautifully wrapped with zucchini, yam, and shiso leaves around the pork. They had a crispy texture as they were freshly fried, which stimulated my appetite with each bite. I had always imagined spring rolls to be greasy, but these were refreshing with the well-thought-out filling and the thin, perfectly fried skin. The barley miso soup and glossy white rice complemented the spring rolls well, and I finished my meal in no time. For dessert, I tried the pudding. Although I was tempted by the seasonal yogurt ice cream and chocolate mousse, I went for the classic choice. The slightly bitter caramel and the perfect firmness of the pudding were delicious. I'm looking forward to my next visit, wondering what I'll be able to try next time.

I was surprised that there was only one type of set meal, but it was incredibly delicious. The main dish was "pork spring rolls" with pork wrapped around zucchini, yam, plum, and fragrant shiso leaves. It was a dish that contained all my favorites. The side dishes included a tuna potato salad, chilled tofu topped with myoga, and miso soup that warmed me up in the air-conditioned room. It made me feel the beginning of summer, and it was the best lunch.

I visited Little Chef after seeing a feature on dancyu's cafeteria. I had the pork shabu salad with miso dressing, three small side dishes, miso soup, rice, and a drink (I chose iced tea). According to dancyu, the rice is made by the owner's father. Everything from the food to the drinks was very satisfying and delicious. I didn't make a reservation, but it seemed like it would have been better to do so. Luckily, I was able to get a table at the right time.
