I suddenly felt like eating Mitarashi dango after seeing Takeshi Takeda mistakenly confuse "Cocos" and "CoCo Ichi", so I bought some for 150 yen. Mitarashi dango ranks high on my list of things I suddenly crave (*´∀`*) The skewer holds three dango balls, truly the three dango siblings! By the way, I grew up in the generation of Ayumi and Kentaro. I tried licking the sauce - it starts off sweet, then the saltiness kicks in. The proper sweet and salty Mitarashi sauce is delicious (^ー^) I ate them right after buying, so the dango was soft and chewy, and each piece was big, giving a satisfying bite! Dango tends to get hard as time passes, so freshness is key. It's a bit disappointing that there's not enough Mitarashi sauce - I prefer it to be generously coated. I heard somewhere that freezing Mitarashi dango makes it taste better, but I haven't tried it yet (。-∀-)♪

Haruurara. On the spring equinox, I went to visit the grave. Right nearby, at the Japanese sweets shop Nishimura, I bought botamochi and plum daifuku. After leisurely arranging the flowers and offering them, I spent some time reminiscing in front of the grave, feeling like I was between this world and the other side, gazing at the peaceful green plums and letting myself be enveloped by the air. Before leaving, I enjoyed the botamochi as a gift, along with the tea I brought. The gentle sweetness of the red bean paste, the firm chewiness of the sticky rice, it was delightful. I took the plum daifuku home and enjoyed it as a sweet reward after work. The large green plum inside was very refreshing and delicious. I plan to visit again in autumn. It was a good day. Feeling refreshed. Thank you for the meal. Thank you very much.

I went to visit the grave. After offering my respects, I sat down with some snacks and the drinks I brought, and enjoyed a relaxing snack time while chatting. It had been a while since I was able to visit on a day when the shop was open, but today, to my delight, the shop's flag was flying. I opened the door for the first time in years and saw a variety of nostalgic sweets lined up, such as manju, daifuku, and dango. After some consideration, I chose a daifuku with plum jam inside and a simple daifuku with smooth red bean paste called "Nidaime". I also picked up a cute moon-viewing dango set with three dango arranged in a triangle, perfect for the autumn moon viewing season. I left the moon-viewing dango at the shop while I finished my visit, and picked it up an hour later before the shop closed at 5 pm. When I got back home, I offered the moon-viewing dango along with some eggplant and pear that I had at home. I gazed up at the full moon shining brightly in the sky, and it was a wonderful day. Thank you very much. The total number of dango was 15, stacked in piles of 9, 4, and 2!

Aomori Seven Lucky Gods. This must be the third time already~ Whether running around or cycling, the calming feeling comes from the expressions of various temples, I suppose. This time, I visited a wagashi shop called Shimura, which mainly offers wagashi made with plums. They have two types of plum daifuku: the first generation (216 yen) and the second generation (180 yen). The first one has seeds, while the second one is seedless. Why not try both and see which you prefer? The soft mochi with a gentle sweet bean paste and the sweet-sour plum combination leaves a refreshing aftertaste. They often sell out, but this time I also tried the cream anko daifuku (strawberry 180 yen). Inside the cream anko is strawberry jam!! The soft mochi is the same, but the taste is like a Western confectionery. The gentle sweetness pairs well with tea or coffee!! I bought a little snack at the wagashi shop, then walked around the Seven Lucky Gods while enjoying it at a resting place in the temple. Such a luxurious holiday is very refreshing and highly recommended. Thank you for the meal.

Today I explored Ome City while walking and visited some interesting shops. Inside the daifuku there was a slightly sweet plum. I prefer sour plums, so I thought it was a bit too sweet for my taste.

Plum Daifuku with Strawberry Filling: Not too sour, chewy texture, and the red bean paste has a perfect level of sweetness.

This is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop near the edge of the kettle pond park. Their famous specialty is the plum daifuku. I visited around 2:00 aiming for it, but unfortunately both the plum daifuku for 216 yen and the second generation plum daifuku for 180 yen were sold out. I should have come earlier to avoid them being sold out. The plum daifuku has a whole green plum inside, and it's delicious. The second generation one has plum jam and it's tasty too. Oh no, both of them are sold out. Since I didn't want to leave empty-handed, I ended up buying the cream anko daifuku (strawberry) for 180 yen, which was still available. It was a small daifuku, but when I took a bite, it was delicious. The strawberry jam anko had a slight acidity and was very elegant. There was also a bit of cream inside, giving it a slightly Western feel. I was pleasantly surprised as I didn't have high expectations. I hope to come earlier next time and try the classic plum daifuku. Thank you for the meal.

After strolling around the Aome O-matsuri festival, I decided to buy a local specialty called "Ume Daifuku." Due to the Plum Pox Virus, many plum trees in Aome have been cut down, but this sweet treat contains plums, making it a popular souvenir from the plum town. There are two versions of Ume Daifuku - the first one has a whole plum inside, while the second one has a seedless plum. Today, the second version was sold out, so I bought the first one. The sweet and tenderly cooked plum inside the daifuku creates a perfect balance with the sweet bean paste, making it delicious. It's a great souvenir from Aome. Thank you for the meal.

After reading the reviews from a food blogger, I just had to visit and try it for myself. I had just eaten lunch, but couldn't resist trying the Ume Daifuku. The package had a warning about watching out for the plum pit, which is rare in traditional Japanese sweets these days. The outside was coated in plenty of powder, which stuck to my mouth. I took a bite and the sweet red bean paste and subtle sourness of the plum blended perfectly - it was delicious. The plum was cooked to a soft sweetness that I could eat on its own. The mochi was soft and had a great texture, making it a blissful moment. They also have other sweets made with plum, as well as baked goods. It would make a great souvenir too. Thank you for the meal.

I bought a plum daifuku at the event space in JR Kawasaki Station. It cost 210 yen including tax. It is made with a large plum from Yoshino Ume Kyo, known as one of Japan's leading plum producing areas. The ingredients listed are sugar, red beans, mochi rice (domestic), plum wine plum (green plum), starch, and trehalose. The plum is delicious, but the taste of the red bean paste is weak. The second one I tried was a plum daifuku without seeds, which cost 180 yen including tax. Compared to the plum daifuku, it had fewer plums and the taste of the red bean paste was also weak. Lastly, I tried the red bean daifuku, which cost 160 yen. This review was taken from a blog post.

This shop is famous for traditional Japanese sweets such as plum daifuku made with green plums. I bought their sake manju at the souvenir shop of Inagi Onsen "Toki no Iro" and tried it at home after warming it up in the microwave. The scent of sake is subtle. The outer layer is glossy and the texture is like a simple and slightly firm steamed bun. If you steam it slowly in a steamer, it will become even more delicious and fluffy. The sweet red bean paste filling is not too sweet and has a hint of saltiness. I would love to try their other Japanese sweets as well. Thank you for the meal.

I purchased a steamed bun called "Aoume Manju" (130 yen) at the Ume Matsuri (Plum Blossom Festival) in Koishikawa Korakuen. It is made with a mixture of plum flesh from Yoshino Ume Kyo and white bean paste. The dough is colored with matcha and is moist without any additives. A pack of 3 (330 yen) is vacuum-sealed for longer shelf life. The refreshing taste of the young green plums is irresistible. The green plums here are too delicious! The taste is different from ripe plums, with a youthful and refreshing flavor. Highly recommended!
