I used to come for lunch last time, but this time it was for a dinner party. The seating is time-limited, so the first person to arrive gets a 2-hour limit. You can't make reservations, so be careful about the entry time! It's a 2-hour challenge, with a 30-minute last call for the all-you-can-drink option (1,500 yen). It's not a glass exchange system, so it's better to order Chamisul in advance. The all-you-can-drink bottle of Chamisul is cost-effective and highly recommended. With the recent Korean wave, many people crave for Korean food or hot pot, and if you're in Shin-Okubo, this place is a must-visit despite the strict rules. It's fun to eat while using simple Korean phrases. The hot pot set (for 2 people: 2,838 yen) and cheese kimchi (1,078 yen) are must-try items! The cheese kimchi seemed a bit thinner than before. I usually like spicy food but can't eat too much, but here I can just manage. The Yangnyeom chicken has just the right amount of spiciness. The Lapoogi was a bit spicy - might be a bit lacking for those who love spicy food. It's so fun to dine in a place with Korean music playing. The restaurant is very spacious, so you can usually get in without waiting, unless it's peak hours on weekends. It's also enjoyable to browse Korean cosmetics on the way back. The restaurant had a charming retro Korean atmosphere. I ordered a platter of namul, yukhoe, fried chicken, seafood jeon, and cheese kimbap. Everything was delicious, but the standout was the seafood jeon, which was sweet and fluffy with plenty of onions. The cheese kimbap is best eaten quickly before the cheese hardens. The fried chicken was crispy and tasty, especially when dipped in the provided salt and mustard, although it had a lot of small bones. The service was quick and smooth. I would definitely like to visit again.

Visited "Tonmakkol" located an 8-minute walk from Shin-Okubo Station. Prices range from 3000 to 5000 yen per person. The total bill came to around 8000 yen. We arrived on a Sunday at 4 pm and were given a table for 4 even though we were only 2 people, which was very much appreciated. We ordered Cheese Ball for 780 yen, Cheese Kimbap for 980 yen, Yukhoe for 1280 yen, and Budae Jjigae hot pot for 2680 yen. We also added rice for 300 yen and ramen for 300 yen. The Cheese Ball arrived within 3 minutes and was delicious. The Cheese Kimbap had stretchy cheese and was tasty. However, the Yukhoe was not very good. The Budae Jjigae hot pot was flavorful and satisfying, with a good amount of ingredients. The interior of the restaurant was clean, and we would definitely like to visit again. A great dining experience overall.

The dish is delicious and satisfying, and you can't help but enjoy every bite. - Yukhoe: This dish features thinly sliced beef in a sweet sauce, mixed with raw egg yolk for a rich and flavorful experience. It's a must-try if you love meat dishes, and it complements the other dishes well. - Sundubu Jjigae: A comforting dish made with tofu, green onions, and seafood in a mildly spicy and flavorful broth. It's a favorite for those who enjoy this type of dish, and it's so good that you'll want to order it again. - Mul Naengmyeon: A friend ordered this dish, and it features noodles in a refreshing and flavorful icy broth. The restaurant opened at 11:00, I arrived at 11:30 and just managed to get a seat. The all-you-can-drink option for 2 hours was 1500 yen. I decided to go for it since I could break even after 3 drinks. It was a glass exchange system, so when I ordered my next drink with a little left in my glass, they took it away. I quickly finished my drink and waited for the next one. Despite the crowd, the drinks came quickly so I didn't have to wait long. I ordered cheese dakgalbi, cheese jeon, cheese balls, and went all out with the cheese. The cheese jeon with honey was especially delicious. So good.

When I went to the Ueno branch before, all the dishes were delicious and you could add all-you-can-drink, so I really liked the restaurant. This time, I visited the Shin-Okubo branch. The interior of the restaurant is retro and cute, just like the Ueno branch. From the semi-private rooms at the back of the restaurant, you could see the streets of Shin-Okubo. The staff were kind and efficient, which was really nice. Also, I was happy to find out that if you tag the restaurant's hashtag in your Instagram stories or posts, you can get a free butter beer! Ask the staff for more details and hurry up! [Items I ordered this time] - Cheese Tteokbokki: A spicy sauce with lots of cheese, torched on top to make it melty. You can eat it as is, but my recommendation is to mix it with the Tteokbokki that comes with it. The chewy rice cakes and the cheese go so well together! - Yukhoe: Yukhoe with a strong garlic flavor. A taste that you can't find elsewhere! - Kimchi assortment: The volume was overwhelming and the seasoning was perfect. - Seafood Pancake: This was truly a shocking deliciousness. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Maybe the best I've ever had! - Sol Lung Tang: Isn't it the best to finish with Sol Lung Tang after eating so much? - Terra beer - Yakan raw makgeolli - Bonbon juice

I finally tried the cheese takoyaki that I had been curious about on Instagram. The octopus was harder than I expected, and the cheese on top ended up going under the grill as time passed, making it really difficult to eat. However, it was delicious when eaten with the accompanying chu-mopa!

I had Namul, seafood pancake, fried chicken, and Kimbap. The pancake was chewy and satisfying, very delicious! The fried chicken had a crispy coating, not too greasy, and very tasty! The cheese kimbap, a specialty, only had cheese in it, so it may not be recommended for those looking for the traditional kimbap. The all-you-can-drink option for 2 hours at 1500 yen was a great deal, allowing me to enjoy Makgeolli and Chamisul at a reasonable price!

Just outside Shin-Okubo Station, walk to the right for about 5 minutes and you'll find a two-story building with large Korean characters that read "Retro Tonmakol" on the second floor. Inside, there is a lovely Korean-style pub atmosphere. The menu we ordered this time includes Cheese Tteokbokki ¥1738, Raw Samgyupsal ¥1298, Sundubu Jjigae ¥1188, and Cheese Balls ¥780. Cheese lovers will be thrilled! The new menu item Cheese Tteokbokki comes with fried rice. It features a large octopus covered in plenty of cheese, which the staff will torch for you. It is spicy, with thick and chewy octopus providing a satisfying texture. Eating it with mayonnaise will mellow out the spiciness. It comes with fried rice, and a new way to eat it is to mix the fried rice with the cheese tteokbokki and enjoy the chewy texture of the octopus. Raw Samgyupsal is a must-try when it comes to Korean cuisine. It is incredibly juicy and full of flavor. The Sundubu Jjigae is spicy and flavorful. The Cheese Balls have a chewy texture and gooey cheese filling that is irresistible. We originally planned to try various dishes, but the Cheese Tteokbokki alone was filling and satisfying. I also want to try the popular Cheese Kimbap next time. Even though there were four of us, we were full with just these dishes. With such a wide variety on the menu, I look forward to coming back with an empty stomach.

The shop has a retro and cute atmosphere. The service is relatively fast. The cheese chijimi is impressive as it is grilled in front of you with a burner. The seafood chijimi was especially delicious, with a chewy and juicy texture, it was amazing. For dessert, they only have yellow peach, which was a safe and delicious choice.

I visited Tonmakkol in Shin-Okubo! We started with a cheers with a draft beer. The highlight was the delicious Cheese Tteokbokki. It was a generous portion of spicy octopus topped with lots of cheese, which was torched to perfection. The octopus was slightly milder due to the cheese. It's a taste that you'll get hooked on! Sharing is recommended. The Mopan set includes Cheese Tonkatsu, Yangnyeom Chicken, Garlic Soy Sauce Chicken, Honey Butter Chicken, Fried Chicken, Cheese Balls, and Cheese Potatoes. It's a luxurious set with so much food. The Cheese Tonkatsu had a crispy exterior and oozing cheese inside. They are currently running a promotion where you can get a Korean butter beer, so make sure to check their official Instagram. I was curious about the new Cheese Tteokbokki, so I went to try it. When the Cheese Tteokbokki arrived, I was surprised. There was a large amount of cheese on top of the tteokbokki. The staff then used a burner to melt the cheese right in front of us. The melted cheese mixed with the tteokbokki was absolutely amazing. The combination was perfect - the tteokbokki itself was spicy, but the cheese added a creamy touch that complemented it well. The spiciness was deliciously sharp. Note that even with the cheese, it still has a kick, so be cautious if you're not a fan of spicy food. Ordering the Cheese Tteokbokki also comes with self-service rice balls, which was a fun experience to make on our own. I also recommend the Cheese Kimbap, which is a popular menu item at this restaurant. The kimbap with a large amount of cheese inside that stretches incredibly when you pull it apart. I came here looking for the popular hot pot set. I also ordered my friend's favorite sundubu. The tonkatsu and chicken were crispy! Especially the tonkatsu with rich cheese was delicious! The sundubu was spicy but had plenty of seafood and lots of ingredients, making it flavorful and tasty. The sundubu was enough for about 2-3 people! I was full with just these two dishes! I went to "Tonmakkol" in Shin-Okubo. I was the first customer when they opened at 11 am on a weekday. The restaurant is spacious and has a nice atmosphere. *Raw Samgyeopsal / per person 1180 yen (excluding tax) *Cheese Kimbap 980 yen (excluding tax) *Cheese Chukumi / per person 1580 yen (excluding tax) The original Cheese Kimbap was amazing! The cheese stretches a lot and it was surprisingly delicious with the sweet and spicy flavors. The staff cooked and cut all the high-quality meat for the Samgyeopsal. The generous side dishes were also delicious, especially when wrapped in lettuce with various ingredients. The Mopan set is popular at Tonmakkol, but I also recommend the Samgyeopsal. I tried the new menu item, Cheese Chukumi, where the cheese is grilled in front of you. The Chukumi (baby octopus) was fluffy and tasted amazing with the spicy miso. Mixing it with tobiko, takuan, and chopped shiso on rice was truly exquisite. It's a bit spicy, but with the mayonnaise provided, it was perfect. Even though I was full from the Samgyeopsal, I couldn't stop eating the delicious rice. Tonmakkol is on the 2nd floor of a building, and the staff's service was excellent. I definitely want to go back!

I visited for lunch on a weekday. Shin-Okubo was crowded even on a weekday, and this restaurant was about half full. I ordered the Cheese Kimbap for 980 yen and Cucumber Kimchi for 580 yen. The Cheese Kimbap had cheese that stretched like crazy. Korean cheese seems to stretch a lot, haha. It was delicious and I could eat it up quickly. The Cucumber Kimchi was not too spicy and tasty. The menu was also extensive, so I thought I might come back again.
