A tonkatsu restaurant facing a narrow street near Ryogoku Station South Exit (I think it's called Yokozuna Yokocho). I found out later that it has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants. It's always crowded with customers. Luckily, I was able to get in without waiting. I ordered the set meal with loin and fillet tonkatsu. The service from the staff was very pleasant. They had a gentle demeanor and kept an appropriate distance. I noticed that they also treated the waiting customers with care. It took a little while, but the freshly fried tonkatsu was served. "The loin has a sweet fat, so please enjoy it with salt and wasabi," they said. So I quickly sprinkled red salt and put a dab of wasabi before taking a bite. Yes, it was delicious. The sweet fat and meat were well-balanced, complemented by the crispy coating. I enjoyed the fillet with sauce and mustard. It was juicy and not dry at all. I couldn't help but smile as I ate. I left the restaurant feeling blissful.

I went by car around 1 pm on a weekday, but the parking lots near the shop were all full at this time. There were about 5 people waiting outside, but we were able to enter the shop after about a 15-minute wait. About 1/3 of the customers were foreigners. We ordered while waiting outside, and soon enough the Hire Katsu arrived. The thick-cut pieces were already sold out, and shortly after the Hire Katsu was also sold out. The batter was crispy and we enjoyed it with salt, it was very delicious. I also had some extra rice, it was quite filling so I'm glad I didn't go for the thick-cut option. ⚠️ For those who are concerned about fatty meat, I recommend the Hire. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the restaurant for lunch on a holiday. I stood in front of the curtain, thinking there was no line, but then realized the front of the shop was different... The storefront had a curtain hanging on the side, giving a back-alley feel, and I misunderstood. I waited there for 10 minutes for a meeting, wasting time, as there were about 6 groups lined up in front. In the end, I waited for about an hour. While waiting in line, the staff took our order, and when they mentioned that ordering the premium loin for 3300 yen for two people was too much, we decided to order the premium and regular loin for 2200 yen instead. As expected, the delicious tonkatsu is best enjoyed with lemon, salt, and mustard. The soft and sweet pork fat is amazing!! However, as the staff warned, eating the premium loin alone is tough even for those who love pork fat! If you can share with someone, it's best to eat the premium first and the regular loin later. It becomes clear why there is grated daikon ponzu sauce for refreshing your palate if you think about finishing it alone. Maybe that's why dressing is charged separately, which is a bit questionable. Well, just sauce on cabbage is enough though.

It had been 8 years since I last visited this restaurant, mainly because it's always crowded and the wait can be a bit tough. This time, no one was waiting outside, so I decided to drop in for dinner, only to find out there was a reservation and ended up waiting for 30 minutes before being seated. Just so you know, it's better to make a reservation if you plan on going for dinner. Lately, I've been coming to Ryogoku four days a week due to various reasons, and I always pass by "Hasegawa" on my way. This restaurant is listed in the Michelin guide, which might explain why there are a lot of foreigners, around 30% of the customers are usually foreigners. This time, half of the customers were foreigners as well. For my first tonkatsu in 8 years, I chose the Top Loin Katsu set for 2300 yen. When I asked the staff about the difference between the 180g "Premium for 2800 yen" and "Top for 2300 yen," they explained that it's the fat content. Personally, I prefer less fat, so I chose the "Top" without hesitation. I was able to place my order while waiting in line, so the food was served just a few minutes after being seated. One unique thing about this place is that they provide ponzu sauce and wasabi as condiments. Also, in many high-end restaurants, you can't get refills on rice and cabbage, but here, you can have as much as you want. The Top Loin tonkatsu was truly exceptional. The meat texture was amazing, with a slightly rough and soft texture that melts in your mouth. The juiciness of the meat spreads nicely in your mouth. I believe even foreigners can appreciate the deliciousness of Japanese tonkatsu with this quality.

I ordered the premium loin cutlet. The sweetness of the oil was amazing, and it was thick and tender. It was a very delicious tonkatsu. I think the price is reasonable. However, towards the end, it became quite greasy. Next time, I want to try the fillet cutlet. The photo looked really delicious.

On this day, for the first time in over ten years, I went to Ryogoku to watch sumo, so I decided to visit Hasegawa, a popular restaurant. I had heard that there was a line during lunchtime, so I adjusted my schedule and arrived at 1:40 pm on a weekday. Still, there were 10 people waiting outside. After waiting for 25 minutes, I finally entered the restaurant. The most popular dishes, the Thick Cut Pork Cutlet (3300 yen) and the Hasegawa Pork Cutlet (2700 yen), were sold out. This time, I ordered the Mixed Pork Cutlet Set with Shrimp Fry (80g) for 1600 yen, which I love. It took 10 minutes to be served. The staff recommended eating it with wasabi and salt. The pork cutlet was a bit small, but the coating was crispy and it tasted refreshing with the wasabi, allowing me to savor the sweetness of the meat. The shrimp fry and croquette were also crispy and delicious. Additionally, the rice and cabbage were free for refills, so I had a second helping of cabbage. The miso soup had red miso and mushrooms in it. The pickled daikon radish served as a side dish was incredibly delicious, and I wanted to buy some to take home. The Mixed Pork Cutlet Set (80g) for 1600 yen was excellent in terms of cost-performance, and I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again when I come to Ryogoku. *It was mentioned that Sumida Ward was having a PayPay campaign, so I received a 10% discount on the bill. Thank you for the meal.

I had plum and shiso pork cutlet. The pickles had a wasabi flavor. The plum and shiso pork cutlet is quite delicious even just with lemon. It's not just because of the plum and shiso, the pork cutlet itself is tasty. However, the sauce is very ordinary so it's better to have it with ponzu. The taste is refreshing with the plum and shiso, but the meat had a bit too much fat. It's quite busy during both lunch and dinner.

We visited "Hasegawa" restaurant in both countries by car. There is a coin parking nearby. We visited for lunch before and this time we went for dinner. We arrived late for dinner, so we quickly made a reservation for 3 people and entered the restaurant at 9:30 pm. We ordered the Supreme Pork Cutlet Pork Toro Set Yokozuna (with loin, fillet, croquette, minced meat, and fried squid), drinks, and alcohol. The pork meat was tender with a subtle flavor. The fat had a very soft texture that melted in the mouth but left a lingering sensation. The breadcrumbs were neither coarse nor fine. The frying was done firmly with a moderate amount of coating. It was an ordinary tonkatsu restaurant. Even though the pork meat was of high quality, it did not suit my taste. After eating, there was a lingering oily feeling in the mouth. We were in the restaurant for less than 60 minutes, but the smell of oil stuck to our clothes. It might be tough to handle if you visit for lunch (*´-`). The female staff members were efficient but gave off a strong work vibe, making it a bit difficult to place orders. I have enjoyed it enough this time, so I'm good now. Thank you for the meal.

You can enjoy delicious tonkatsu here. The photo shows a combination of loin and half-fillet cutlets. In my opinion, this is the best tonkatsu restaurant. The loin cutlet, eaten with salt and wasabi instead of sauce, is delicious. The fillet cutlet, eaten with sauce, is also tasty. You can get free refills of rice and cabbage. When I visited, I received a 10% point bonus when paying with PayPay.

Today, I visited the tonkatsu restaurant "Hasegawa" in Ryogoku for the first time in a while. Although my acquaintance has moved away, the staff and the taste of the food were as wonderful as ever. This time, I ordered a simple set meal with fillet and loin tonkatsu. The tonkatsu was crispy and delicious, the rice was fluffy, and the pink salt and wasabi on the side were also good. As I felt last time, I found the shredded cabbage or dressing to have a slightly unusual taste. Thank you for the meal.

On Saturday, November 17th, 9 people lined up at 11:17 and entered the restaurant at 11:45. I ordered the 220g Thickest Cut Premium Pork Cutlet Bowl (3,300 yen) and wondered if I could finish it all. As a cabbage lover, I found the amount of cabbage served with the dish to be insufficient, so I had to ask for a refill. While the Wasabi Salt was recommended, I personally found the regular sauce to be more delicious. The Ponzu sauce was not crispy enough for my liking. The Tonkatsu with Rice Set (2,200 yen) was surprisingly more delicious than expected, making the overall experience a bit underwhelming considering the long wait. The Tonkatsu was tasty, but I felt it wasn't worth the wait. This review is based on my personal subjective opinion. I took note of the wait time, entry time, and serving time to help plan my schedule. Taste preferences vary, so I have also considered the quality of service in my evaluation.

-Wednesday 12:00 PM: Arrived at the restaurant and was the 4th person in line. Sat on the chairs outside and waited. -12:15 PM: Entered the restaurant. -12:25 PM: Received the meal. -12:45 PM: Left the restaurant. -Memo: The customer service was excellent, with attention to detail, consideration, greetings, and attentive communication. For example, they refilled tea and offered extra cabbage. The quality of the meat was outstanding. -Ordered: Top loin cutlet (180g) for 2,300 yen. Rice and cabbage refills were free. -The meat had a beautiful pink color, was tender with fine texture, thick, and had sweet fat. -Recommended condiments: Salt, wasabi, grated ponzu, and sauce.

The meat was sweet and delicious. I had a combination of roast pork, fried squid, and croquettes, which was satisfying in terms of portion size. I recommend trying it with salt and wasabi instead of sauce. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Ordered the premium loin cutlet and baron croquette. The premium loin cutlet was incredibly delicious with a sweet and high-quality fat. It can be enjoyed with various seasonings like sauce, salt, wasabi, mustard, and grated ponzu, but my favorite was salt and wasabi. The croquette was filled with moist and fluffy potatoes, and even without sauce, it was delicious. The crispy texture was truly outstanding. My companion ordered the thick cutlet, and I managed to try a piece, which was also incredibly delicious. We arrived 15 minutes before the holiday opening, and by the time we left, there was already a line forming. I recommend coming a bit early to avoid the crowd.

Located near the headquarters, I had been curious about this place for a while. I arrived around 11:40, but it was already full so I had to wait on the bench outside. They offered cold tea while I waited, which was nice on such a hot day. I ordered the loin cutlet for 1450 yen, which was a bit pricey. It arrived quickly and the meat was sweet and tender. The special sauce looked tempting, but I decided to enjoy the flavor of the cutlet with soy sauce. It was delicious - thank you for the meal!

Second visit. I wasn't too excited to come back after not having a great impression the first time, but I ordered the premium loin cutlet set. I think it was around 2,300 yen. My wife ordered the regular loin cutlet set. The dishes arrived in a few minutes. I took a bite. Hmm, just like last time, I couldn't really feel any special deliciousness. I'm not sure if it's the way it's fried, the quality of the meat, or both. It's tasty, but compared to other restaurants in the same price range, it lacks impact. The meat flavor is not strong enough. I can understand the opinion that it's easy to eat because it's not too distinctive. The regular loin cutlet set had slightly dry meat. The wasabi on the tonkatsu was freshly grated real wasabi and delicious.

I had the Upper Loin Katsu for lunch, which cost 2,300 yen. It might be the best tonkatsu I've ever had. The fatty part is sweet and very delicious. You can also change the seasoning with wasabi, salt, oroshi ponzu, etc. I feel like going on a tour of the top tonkatsu restaurants.

I visited for the first time during the Obon holiday. There was one group of customers before the opening at around 11 o'clock. While waiting, the staff came to take our order. This time, I ordered the pork cutlet set meal. The meat was tender and the breading was crispy, making it very delicious. Next time, I plan to order the premium pork loin. Thank you for the meal!

The taste was average in my opinion. You can enjoy three types of sauces: wasabi salt, grated ponzu, and sauce. The recommended order from the restaurant is wasabi salt, grated ponzu, then sauce. I didn't find it particularly delicious. Personally, I am sensitive to fatty foods and easily get indigestion or feel tired after eating, so I recommend considering other opinions as well. Even with the top quality meat, I still felt it was quite fatty. It might be better to go with the lower grade meat. The service was excellent, with the staff actively offering refills of cabbage, rice, and tea. The speed of service and turnover rate are very fast.

[2022 Tonkatsu Top 100] This restaurant is located just a 1-minute walk from JR Ryogoku Station. Known as one of the top tonkatsu restaurants in Ryogoku, it is popular for its premium tonkatsu made with Hirazakari Berg three-element pork and carefully selected bread crumbs. On this day, I visited at 12 o'clock on a holiday and there were about 16 people waiting in line... It took about 40 minutes to finally get inside. Truly a popular spot. By this point, the [Thick-cut Premium Rosukatsu] was already sold out. While waiting outside, they provided barley tea for the waiting customers, which was much appreciated. The service was also great✨ Now, for my order this time: [Hasegawa Tonkatsu 2700 yen] and [Menchi Katsu 600 yen]. Since the premium rosu was sold out, I opted for a different kind of tonkatsu with an arrangement. The [Hasegawa Tonkatsu] is a unique tonkatsu with garlic, shiso, and cheese sandwiched between the rosu. After the tender and sweet fat of the rosu tonkatsu, you can smell the garlic, and then feel the refreshing taste of shiso. It's a delicate balance of flavors that harmonize beautifully. Whether eaten with sauce or salt, it was delicious. The [Menchi Katsu] was also thick, crispy, with a solid meaty texture, making it a wonderful companion to rice✨ Delicious!! Next time, I'd like to try a simple rosu tonkatsu... preferably the thick-cut premium rosu. Thank you for the lovely service and the delicious meal✨ I'll definitely be back⭐️⭐️
