A shop located in the backstreets of Shin-Okubo Station. It's the third shop I've tried recently that serves spicy hot pot noodles. They display various vegetables, meat, and mushrooms in separate plastic bags, and you can choose your favorite ingredients for them to cook. I received a free dish with a seal. I chose medium spiciness, which was quite effective. The soup was light, but the spiciness and thick noodles made a strong impression, allowing me to savor the flavor with each bite. The atmosphere and service at the shop were great!

Upon entering, there is a refrigerated showcase where you can choose up to three toppings for your customizable tantanmen noodles. In addition to tantanmen, they also offer lu rou fan (Taiwanese braised pork rice) and curry as their main dishes. I opted for the lu rou fan priced at 950 yen (tax included), which came with diced pork, a boiled egg, and pickled mustard greens. The portion and taste were as expected, with no extraordinary surprises. The restaurant's interior and location in Shin-Okubo/Shibuya, as well as its focus on options and promotion of cellophane noodles, indicate that its target demographic is clearly female customers.

I chose a dish with lots of vegetables and medium spiciness. I'm not particularly good with very spicy food, but this level of spiciness is just right and delicious. It's hard to believe that something so delicious can also be healthy. The vegetables give it a nice crunch, so I personally recommend it. I also enjoyed the cilantro for those who like it. There were a few other customers dining in and Uber Eats orders coming in non-stop. I think it's popular among women for being healthy and tasty. If you're going to eat instant noodles, this is a better option. There seem to be many other branches, so I will definitely visit again!

I invited a friend who came to Tokyo on a business trip for lunch, and he said he wanted to eat ramen, so I took him to Tondou Maratantan in Shin-Okubo. We chose our toppings and spiciness level at the entrance and ordered ramen. The interior of the restaurant was very clean, and there were many female customers. The spiciness levels at Maratantan are indicated by the color red in the photos - level 2 is quite spicy, while level 1 comes with a raw egg on top and may feel a bit lacking in heat. Overall, it was a fun and delicious experience. Thank you for the meal.

I ended up going there again. This time I tried the level 1 spiciness and it was good. It felt like a different kind of spiciness, maybe with yuzu in it? The range between level 1 and 2 spiciness is quite wide. I personally prefer level 2. Thank you for the delicious mapo tofu today, I would like to try the curry next time.

I didn't expect it to be this delicious ∑(゚Д゚) I've been craving noodles again since yesterday, and I really wanted to eat udon, but I decided to try this place that I've been curious about for a while. I have a dream of trying out all the food establishments, but I know I can't do it in my lifetime, haha. There were so many ingredients to choose from, so I had a hard time deciding since it was my first time (=´∀`) I ended up choosing a lot of toppings. I chose level 2 spiciness, and it was quite spicy, but I liked that it had a good kick (。◕ ∀ ◕。) I started sweating while eating, the spice level was perfect \(^^)/ It seems good for the body. The Ma La flavor was really delicious, so I also ordered a mini Lu Rou Fan. My stomach had a bit of space left, so I thought it would be fine, and it was just the right amount. In the end, Lu Rou Fan was delicious (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`) It's quite rude, but it's tastier than Yoshinoya's beef bowl... haha (※This is just my personal opinion. Please forgive me m(_ _)m) This place is definitely going to be my go-to spot, it's good for my body too (´∀`) However, after the last customer left (besides me), I overheard the staff gossiping at the register. I think it's fine to do that after I leave, as there are many unfair things in the world and it can be stressful (´・ω・`) I understand their feelings as I used to work part-time at a restaurant when I was a student, but I really hate gossiping, so even though the food was delicious, it made me feel sad. So, I would have given it 5 stars, but I'll give it 4 stars. Thank you for the delicious meal, sorry to the president of Tingle Ma La. I'll definitely come back.

A herbal cuisine restaurant located on the international street of Shin-Okubo. Visited on a weekend night with only one customer already there. Quite empty and easy to get in. The usual style seems to be choosing several vegetables from the refrigerated space, but they also offer a la carte menu items like tantanmen and rice bowls. I ordered the Lu Rou Fan. When it arrived, I realized that it came with a set of herbal soup. The rice bowl had less meat than expected and felt a bit lacking. The star anise flavor was noticeable, but overall the taste was a bit weak. The herbal soup was delicious as expected, but lacked in ingredients and overall satisfaction was low. This restaurant may have survived in the herbal cuisine trend, but I wonder how it will fare in the future.

The curry is rich and slowly spiced, perfect with rice (*'▽'*) The curry is rich and the spices gradually kick in ♬ Enjoy until the end with pickled vegetables, onions, and shredded chili peppers. I visited the Shin-Okubo branch. I had a thin image of harumaki, so I was surprised by how thick it was! It is an original handmade product from a small factory in Nara, with a unique thick and chewy texture. I could feel the spiciness of over 30 types of herbal spices, as well as the flavor of chicken and grilled jaw broth in the mala soup. I noticed the finely grated yuzu in the soup, adding a Japanese element to the various ingredients. It was lovely how everything came together nicely. With the basic fee, you can choose vegetable toppings, so I chose purple cabbage and spinach. You can also choose aromatic vegetables like coriander, as well as meat options like wood ear mushrooms.

I tried the Lamb Maratang for 820 yen at Itadaki Maratang this time, and it was delicious! I'm not a fan of spicy food, so I usually stick to level 1, but it was so tasty that I want to try level 2 next time. I wonder how different the view is for those who enjoy super spicy food. Anyway, it was seriously delicious! By the way, the Lurohan was also incredibly tasty! It's very filling and goes perfectly with the noodle soup. The canned beer (Asahi) for 380 yen was also good. I walked along a street with a foreign feel, about 5 minutes from Shin-Okubo Station, crossing the pedestrian crossing and entering a side street next to Matsumoto Kiyoshi, to reach Itadaki Mararaman. The menu includes Maratang, Dan Dan noodles, Lu Rou Fan, and curry. This time, I chose the Maratang with a topping of 3 items for 850 yen. If you need more, you can add additional toppings, glass noodles instead of noodles, or mini rice. There is a large refrigerated showcase next to the entrance, where you can choose individually packaged ingredients with plastic gloves on. I chose Chinese cabbage, meatballs, and lamb. You can choose the level of spiciness from 0 to 5, and I chose a mild level of 1. The interior of the restaurant has a high ceiling and a stylish atmosphere with counter seats and table seats. The main customers are women and office workers. The food was served quickly after a 5-minute wait. The appearance wasn't very red or spicy-looking. When I tried it, it was spicy, more of a numbing spiciness. I naturally started sweating. The glass noodles were thick and chewy, similar to konjac. The lamb I chose was tender and delicious, without any unpleasant odor. You can pay with PayPay. I'm interested in trying the rice dishes next time, and the calm atmosphere makes it a place I'd like to visit again.

It was delicious. Really delicious, but... it was spicy - I'm not good with spicy food. When I told the staff, they recommended a level 0.5, so I ordered that, but I think I could have gone with level 0. They also have online shopping, so I plan to try ordering from there. It was spicy, but the noodles were addictive. I will definitely go back. ✨

It suddenly got colder, didn't it? I was enjoying smoothies and ice cream not too long ago, but now my body is craving nikuman (steamed meat buns) and soups. Due to the Yamanote Line train service being suspended between Ikebukuro, Shibuya, and Osaki, I walked from Takadanobaba to Shin-Okubo. It's interesting how suddenly the area changes to Shin-Okubo near the station. There is a spicy hot pot restaurant in Shin-Okubo similar to Mala Town in Ikebukuro. Today, I went to Topped Mala Tan. The staff were Japanese, which seems rare for a spicy hot pot restaurant. They disinfect, wear gloves, and you can choose your ingredients. I like white ingredients, so I chose tofu skin, white wood ear mushrooms, and yuba as a must. I also added cilantro, and suddenly felt like having water spinach and baby corn. The hot pot was filled with ingredients. I added extra medicinal spices for spiciness, making it very spicy. The menu is almost the same as Nana Ho Mala Tan, but it seems to be a different chain. Paper aprons are available near the ingredients, so make sure to put one on. The hot pot was colorful and delicious. I added sesame seeds and Sichuan peppercorns and enjoyed it. The thick vermicelli had a nice chewy texture, similar to the hot pot in Shinjuku. I like this thicker vermicelli better than the thin ones. My favorite is the flat thick noodles like the Sichuan Fukumii Mala Tan. The soup had a rich flavor, and I was pleasantly surprised to find yuzu in it. It was wonderful. The spiciness of the extra spicy level was just right, and I kept adding black vinegar from the table. The water was also delicious, so I kept drinking more. The wood ear mushrooms and vermicelli soaked up the flavor of the soup and were delicious. I was able to finish a bowl without any problem, so the portion might be on the smaller side, or maybe I'm just getting into the fall appetite mode.

I added Chinese cabbage, bean sprouts, shiitake mushrooms, and wheat gluten. I put the ingredients in a bowl and handed it to the staff. "How spicy would you like it?" Hmm, there are five levels. I'll go with medium spiciness at level 2! After placing my order, I sat down. It seems that glass noodles are the standard here, and the healthy aspect seems to be popular as there are many female customers. The dish arrives. Hmm, it looks spicy. I take a sip of the soup. The numbing and spicy sensation spreads in my mouth. It's spicy! But delicious! Plenty of vegetables too! The glass noodles have a nice texture, and I find myself eating faster. Hmm, I want to eat more, so I order an extra serving of noodles (Chinese noodles). The extra noodles arrive. Yes, these noodles mix better with the soup. I eat eagerly. Before I know it, I'm sweating! This is truly a detox experience. I finish the soup completely. It may be questionable if it's healthy, but it was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I first went there two summers ago when my father was hospitalized nearby. On the way back, my mother and I decided to stop by. I had heard of Maratang before, but I was drawn to the words "medicinal soup" and "Japanese-style Maratang." Now, I go to eat there at least once a week. It's incredibly delicious. I wanted a light meal, so I stuck with the basic three toppings, but it seemed like there was a shortage of vegetables, so I thought I should have added a couple more.
