Hello, it's the office cat. Today's drink is spicy miso ramen. I visited the popular noodle shop "Kurenai" in Kokubunji. It's one of my favorite ramen spots. Their specialty is the junky spicy miso ramen! This time, I went for the usual hearty set (with boiled egg and rice) and added extra pork belly. The hearty set costs ¥1080, and the extra pork belly is ¥280. The vegetables are usually piled high, but the pork belly covering them adds to the junky appeal. The soup is the reliable spicy and rich miso flavor! It's addictive with a strong garlic kick that makes it very appetizing! Delicious! The noodles are the shop's unique irregularly cut noodles. The various thicknesses and curls create a complex texture! They have a strong chew and good bite! It's like udon. The impact is on par with the soup. The toppings include pork belly and boiled vegetables! This combination is the best for this ramen! Next time, I might add extra vegetables. The rice in the hearty set is a free large serving! The boiled egg can be added to the ramen or eaten with the rice! It's definitely delicious when combined with the rich soup, pork belly, and vegetables! I visited a ramen shop in Kokubunji! This time, I went to "Menso Ken Kurenai" in Kokubunji. I ordered the "Kurenai Bara Niku Mazashi." I've been wanting to go to this shop with my boss for a while now, and there were many interesting words like spicy miso and random cut noodles that caught my attention. I ordered the boss-recommended extra pork belly, and eagerly waited for it to arrive. The dish was served as promised, with a generous amount of pork belly. The soup was a spicy miso broth with a blend of selected miso, chili oil, and just the right amount of spiciness. The umami flavor in the midst of the spiciness was outstanding, and the slight numbing sensation from the Sichuan pepper complemented it well. As for the noodles, they were amazing. They were a mix of 7 different thicknesses (2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 10mm), and the random cut noodles were something I had never seen before and might not come across again. The chewy texture was perfect, and I loved how they turned out. The pork belly was incredibly delicious. The lard from this pork belly further enhanced the flavor of the soup and noodles below. I wish I had ordered rice or Kurenai Donburi to eat with it. This is dangerously addictive... I want more branches in central Tokyo. The spiciness is just right, so even those who are not good with spicy food should be able to enjoy it. Highly recommended! So, I decided to go to "Men Souken Kurenai," which I had been curious about. I ordered the "Kurenai Ramen with Vegetables + Extra Noodles (1140 yen + 160 yen)." The portion was generous, especially with the vegetables, although they were not seasoned. Surprisingly, there were no condiments on the table, not even pepper. I wonder if it's because they have great confidence in their flavors or if the owner is against altering the taste. Anyway, I continued eating. The noodles were the original "randomly cut noodles" of the shop, which were thick and curly, almost like udon noodles, providing a unique texture. The rich and spicy miso soup was satisfying, making me break a sweat. Overall, it was delicious, although the value for money was questionable. I had cravings so I visited a restaurant in the middle of summer. Today, it was two girls and one man dining together. The noodles were delicious as always. However, the pork slices seemed a bit lacking in care and love. Overall, it was a tasty meal. Thank you for the meal.

Ramen restaurant in Tokyo Kokubunji. Visited without prior information after seeing the sign specializing in miso ramen. Ordered the "Miso Gattsuri Set" for 1120 yen at "Men Souken Beni". Surprisingly, the specialty was spicy miso ramen, but I opted for the regular miso ramen today as it was a hot day. The menu also offered a non-spicy version of miso ramen, so I chose that. Feeling extra hungry, I ordered the "Gattsuri Set" which came with a boiled egg and rice. When ordering, I was asked about the rice portion size (large, medium, small), and I chose small. Many students were present, and terms like "large serving" and "mega serving" were being thrown around, showing their huge appetites. The rice and egg were served first, and I was puzzled about how to eat the egg. Do I soak it in the noodles or float it in the soup? There were no condiments on the table, so I decided to top the rice with soy sauce. As I pondered about the egg, a huge bowl of miso ramen arrived with a mountain of pork belly, bean sprouts, and cabbage, reminiscent of Jiro-style ramen. The thick miso soup looked rich, and there were no visible noodles. The soup was indeed rich and thick, with a hint of Sansho pepper, but not spicy. The boiled vegetables, when eaten with the soup, complemented each other well. The well-seasoned pork belly also added to the deliciousness of the dish. However, the rich miso soup was quite overwhelming. After eating about half of the vegetables, I pulled out the noodles from below and found thick, chewy noodles like shimen. The noodles required a good bite and had a firm texture, providing a satisfying chewiness. The noodles coated well with the flavorful soup, and eating them with the boiled egg was enjoyable. The pork belly was also delicious when combined with the noodles. Whether this was the correct way to eat it or not, I'm not sure, but mixing the noodles and pork belly was a good combination. I managed to finish the meal, but it was indeed a very hearty set. The name "Gattsuri Set" finally made sense. It was definitely a place catered towards students.

I arrived at the restaurant on Sunday at 12 o'clock and there was no waiting time, so I was able to enter the restaurant right away. You buy a food ticket and hand it to the staff. If there are 2 people, you will be seated at the counter, but if there are more people, you are likely to be seated at a table. The Oniaka ramen is spicy, but it has a delicious flavor within the spiciness, so once you try it, you will likely become as addicted to it as you would with Kitamoto's Arctic ramen.

The egg was a soft-boiled egg. The staff encouraged me to mix it well before eating, so I did. I still love these uneven noodles. I ordered the popular No. 1 spicy ramen with extra vegetables. It arrived in about 5 minutes. It had a lot of vegetables, similar to a Jiro-style ramen with extra vegetables. I was worried that the soup might be diluted with so many vegetables, but it was not the case. The miso-based soup was flavorful with a slight spiciness that paired well with the vegetables. The homemade noodles were flat and irregularly cut, which also complemented the soup. The pork belly topping was plentiful and had a rich flavor that stood up to the hearty soup. It took me a while to finish due to the abundance of vegetables, but it was a delicious ramen that I wanted to keep eating until the last bite.

I have been regularly visiting this shop for several years. When I first tried it, I thought the oil was too strong, but a month later I started craving it and it became addictive. I am curious about the tsukemen, but I always order the Oni Beni. The combination of pork belly and spicy miso is amazing. I used to go to this shop during my student days. They opened at 11:30 and when I went around 11:40, I was able to get a seat but it became full a few minutes later. I ordered the red ramen and as usual, it was delicious. The noodles come in various thicknesses, and on top, instead of chashu, there is pork belly.

Visited during a national holiday at lunchtime. Almost no line. First, the water was delicious. The ice was also interestingly shaped into round balls. I ordered the red ramen with a soft-boiled egg. The soup was a miso base with added spiciness from chili oil. The miso was sweet and tasty, but the chili oil didn't seem to taste that great. The noodles were flat and came in various thicknesses, with a good firmness. There were plenty of vegetables, which was nice. Overall, it was decently delicious, like the kind of ramen you'd be really happy to have at home. I probably wouldn't go there again for a second time.

Tokyo, Kokubunji City. About 5 minutes from Kokubunji Station North Exit on the Seibu Kokubunji Line. There are many ramen shops in the area. I'm not really good with spicy ramen, but I decided to try it for a change. I bought a normal spicy ramen for 860 yen and a pork belly bowl for 350 yen from the ticket machine. I sat at the counter towards the back. There are also table seats, and about 70% of the seats are filled. You can see the kitchen staff working inside the kitchen. I could hear Chinese being spoken. Maybe it's a customer. The food arrived shortly. I slurped the soup. It's delicious. It's spicy but has a deep flavor and is tasty. The thick noodles go well with it. Delicious. I think this place will become popular. If the pork belly bowl is this size for this price, it would have been better to get extra meat in the ramen. Thank you for the meal.

It is a famous restaurant known for its spicy dishes, but I opted for miso ramen instead because I can't stop sweating when I eat spicy food. The miso ramen cost 860 yen, and I added a soft-boiled egg for 120 yen. The vegetables seemed to be boiled, and the meat was served separately. The noodles were thick like miso stewed udon, giving a satisfying texture. The soup was a bit salty, and I can see why they recommend adding white rice to the set, but for this portion size and price, it's a good deal. I felt like eating something spicy, so I came to Beni in Kokubunji today. I ordered the super spicy Oni Beni set. I think it's been about 1-2 years since I last came here. The restaurant has over 20 seats and is run by 3 staff members. Sometimes it gets crowded, but today it was okay. Wow, it's really spicy. If I were to compare it to Nakamoto, it's about twice as spicy as the Arctic. But what's different from Nakamoto is the stimulating spiciness from ingredients like ichimi and sansho pepper. Eating Beni reminded me of the time I had Oni Shibi Ramen. My lips were so swollen they went numb. It's not that intense, but today's Oni Beni does have a numbing sensation. The noodles are thick curly noodles similar to their own homemade kishimen, and the spicy miso sauce coats them well. By the time I finish eating, I realize I'm sweating. And there's a slight numbness on my lips... It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I went to Men Souken in Fuchu for the first time, and since moving to Kokubunji, I have been a repeat customer many times! This time, I wasn't feeling well so I ordered the regular miso ramen, and it was delicious! The combination of various thickness noodles in the hearty soup was amazing. For those who like Jiro-style ramen, adding vegetables as toppings to make it Jiro-style is also recommended.

Uneven thick noodles are impressive! A ramen shop with a hearty, rich, and miso ramen vibe that I wish I had met when I was younger, around 30 years old. The image shows the recommended spicy menu of the shop, with a moderate spiciness that complements the miso flavor quite well. It's not extremely spicy, but it may be close to the limit for the average person. Personally, coming from a region where I often say "I can handle anything," I have received complaints from people who have tried it before, so I have to be careful (^_^; As for the uneven noodles, you can enjoy the different textures of each at the same time! It's not suitable for those looking for a refined dining experience, but it reminds me of the udon x hiyashi chuka x somen dish I had at a senior's house about 30 years ago. It was surprisingly delicious! I recommend trying it without preconceptions, as it may seem like a poor man's dish but turns out to be enjoyable. Well, even if it's healthy, it's more of a comfort food that one wouldn't eat every day, so approach it as a form of entertainment food and give it a try.
