Recently, my favorite #warabimochi drink ♥️ This time, I chose a flavor that I had been curious about before - hot hojicha and ice strawberry yogurt. The combination of warabimochi is surprisingly good! I want to drink another cup. The staff kindly put black honey on the warabimochi, and it was delicious. Warabimochi is soft and chewy, very tasty ❤️ I went to Yanaka Ginza for the first time, but I learned that if you go by bike or car, you have to find a parking lot because vehicle traffic is closed. Therefore, when I went to give the hot hojicha to my partner, it was a disaster. I wanted to make it cute for Christmas with red and green, but I recommend taking the train. There are many places to eat, so I have to go back for revenge next time ❤️

In the valley, I had the opportunity to watch a puppet show for the first time in my life and visited the town of Yanaka. I knew that the nostalgic atmosphere of the town was popular among foreign tourists, so I was delighted to see a few foreign couples speaking Spanish and English as I walked by. I hope that the lively atmosphere of the town will return soon! There were retro Western-style restaurants and fishmongers in the area, and as I entered the narrow streets of Yanaka Ginza, I noticed many shops selling cat-themed goods. Although I didn't encounter any community cats, it was clear that the town was cat-friendly. I discovered a dessert shop on the left side of Yanaka Ginza street and decided to stop in for a warm drink. My dad had the Warabi Mochi Drink: Sky Roasted Tea (¥680) and I had the Matcha from Asakawaen (¥680) with Warabi Mochi (¥330). The Warabi Mochi was made using real Warabi powder and was handcrafted by artisans. It had a generous amount of roasted soybean flour and was topped with homemade black syrup. The Warabi Mochi had a soft and slightly chewy texture, and it was delicious. The drinks were like tapioca with bits of Warabi Mochi, making it easy to sip without any blockages. I wondered if the shop was related to the one in Kamakura, but it turned out to be part of a company with 36 stores nationwide. The Warabi Mochi has a long history dating back to the Heian period, and the shop's concept was to offer it as a drink for strolling around town. The Warabi Mochi drink we had was a winter limited edition, but they also offered other flavors like Strawberry Yogurt (¥770), Strawberry Milk (¥740), and Coffee Milk (¥680), all topped with whipped cream. The shop had opened on April 1st, and they even had gift boxes of Warabi Mochi (10 pieces for ¥1600).

Sweet Shop Kamakura at Nippori Station, 10 minutes walk - ¥1,000
---order---
- Luxurious Strawberry Milk S (¥610)
Just as I imagined, the strawberry milk is filled with chunks of strawberry pulp, so delicious!! It has a nice sweetness to it, so I feel like I can charge up with this and walk to Nezu Shrine, haha. The warabimochi is also included in the drink and it's quite filling.
- Asakawaen Matcha S (¥580)
I got it hot! It's getting cold, so it's nice to be able to drink something warm with a takeout drink, right? It has a strong matcha flavor. Not too sweet at all, so it's perfect to eat with warabimochi drizzled with black honey!
- Warabimochi 2 pieces (¥330)
Chewy and gooey warabimochi. It has so much kinako powder that I almost choked, haha. I love warabimochi!!! I also like to eat it secretly by just kneading it with black honey and kinako powder.
---note---
I stopped by during my exploration of Yanaka Ginza on a weekend afternoon. Sweet drinks are just right for a break during a city stroll! When I went around early afternoon, there was quite a queue. Most orders are for takeout, but there are a few benches inside where you can sit and eat. It was warm because the heating was working well!

There were hardly any customers around 5:00 pm on a regular weekday in Yanaka. Many shops in the shopping street were closed on Mondays, so there were significantly fewer people compared to weekends. I was curious why there was a Kamakura shop in Yanaka, but I stopped by to satisfy my craving for warabi mochi. The price was quite reasonable, with 2 warabi mochi with vanilla topping costing 370 yen including tax. The order arrived quickly, and I decided to eat inside as there were chairs available. When asked if I wanted black syrup on top, I agreed. They provided a wet towel, spoon, and bamboo skewer. The warabi mochi was quite large, soft, with a good amount of stickiness. It was decent, but the excessive amount of soybean flour made it difficult to eat with either the skewer or spoon. Despite the generous amount of soybean flour, it lacked sweetness, and there was very little black syrup. Also, the vanilla ice cream didn't make much of an impact due to the small portion. The price was okay, but the difficulty in eating and the unbalanced taste were disappointing. The cup had a lid, making it suitable for souvenirs. Overall, it was a bit underwhelming. Thank you for the meal!

On a weekday at 4 pm, I had a regular-sized ice-less strawberry milk. It was the opening day, so the staff were handing out flyers to attract customers. Some customers also bought warabi mochi as souvenirs.

Kamakura Sweet Shop Yanaka Ginza Branch ▷ About a 10-minute walk from Nippori Station! Located on the street of Yanaka Ginza, this specialty shop for warabi mochi also has an eat-in corner where you can enjoy your purchase right there. The combination of the melt-in-your-mouth warabi mochi and the soft sweetness of the matcha drink is excellent. I was soothed by the sweetness. When I visited, couples, friends, solo diners, and mom friends were coming in one after another, making it easy to stop by while strolling. If you're curious, definitely give it a try. ▶ *menu* ○ Warabi Mochi (2 pieces) ¥300- ○ Warabi Mochi Drink with Asakawaen Matcha ¥630- ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ ▶ Kamakura Sweet Shop (Yanaka Ginza Branch) ☺︎ 3-15-4 Nishi-Nippori, Arakawa-ku, Tokyo 【Business Hours】10:00 - 17:00 ○ About a 10-minute walk from JR Nippori Station ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈

Sky houjicha has a refreshing and elegant taste with just the right amount of sweetness. It is the most delicious traditional Japanese sweet I have ever known.

I bought a pack of 5 warabi mochi. When I opened the box, there were big, satisfying pieces of warabi mochi. They were soft and delicious! I also bought some kuromitsu to go with it, but it was a bit too rich. I think it's fine to eat the warabi mochi on its own. As always, I forgot to take a photo.
