After getting off the cable car, I couldn't resist trying the soy sauce dumplings at this shop. The walnut miso also looked delicious. When I took a bite, I was surprised by how delicious the dough was. It was chewy and had a great flavor. This is why you can't ignore dumpling shops.

I visited the shop around 1:30 in the afternoon. The shop is located inside the Ontakesan Station of the Ontake Climbing Railway. I bought a kibidango for 380 yen and a famous grilled bun for 330 yen, took them home, and ate them. The kibidango had a lot of soybean flour and little sugar, so it wasn't too sweet, which I liked. The famous grilled bun was quite filling. Thank you for the meal.

This day, as part of the "Let's Feel Like Going Out Week," I visited Sawanoi Sake Brewery in Ome. Before the brewery tour, I decided to enjoy a little excursion to Mt. Mitake. I took a bus from Ome Station on the JR Ome Line to the Cable Shita bus stop, then hopped on the cable car to Mt. Mitake Station. Upon exiting the station, there were several shops selling souvenirs and food (including alcohol). I was intrigued by the "Boar Bun" (300 yen tax included) made with boar meat and Shuzenji shiitake mushrooms, prepared in a miso flavor. Apparently, boars are known to roam around the area. Although I couldn't quite tell if it was made with boar meat due to the strong miso flavor, it had a similar taste to a pizza bun. After enjoying some canned chu-hi with everyone, we took the lift to the mountaintop. The lift was a single-seat swing type, which was a bit scary due to the swaying. The round trip ticket for the cable car and lift was 1,300 yen. After enjoying the autumn leaves, it was time for the main event of the day, the brewery tour. To be continued... The radio information at my workplace just before Golden Week mentioned that Okutama was the top search destination on navigation systems. With places like Enoshima Beach and Takao Mountain Ropeway being out of the picture, it seems like the next target is Okutama...

On a certain Sunday, we met at Shinjuku Station at 8 am. I handed out drinks that I had prepared to everyone... Cheers! Ah, beer in the morning tastes so good. Let's enjoy the day today! After a while, the "Holiday Express Okutama" arrived at the platform. We quickly finished our tall cans and got on the train. The train was full of hikers with backpacks. Upon closer inspection, 80% of them were women, mountain girls and older women who love the mountains. We, who were not interested in hiking, were lightly dressed, underestimating the mountains. We met natural girls at Hachioji Station and everyone was together. At this point, my bladder was already at its limit. It's a 40-minute ride from Hachioji Station to the destination, Okutama Station! Oh no, I should have gotten a tall can... I need to hurry or I'll leak... As soon as we arrived at Okutama Station, I dashed to the toilet! (Drip, drip...) Phew, that was refreshing. I think I released about 2 liters. I feel relieved. We then took a bus from Okutama Station to Cable Shimo. We took a cable car from Takimoto Station and got off at Mt. Mitake Station, which is the typical course. The colorful cable car is the steepest in the Kanto region. It climbs the average slope of 22 degrees and reaches an altitude of 831 meters at Mt. Mitake Station in just 6 minutes. The sign "Mt. Mitake Station" on the station building looks like a mountain station and is wonderful. Most people aim for Musashi Mitake Shrine at the mountaintop from here. We, who were not interested in hiking, took a lift to aim even higher. Riding the lift, the autumn breeze was so refreshing. The weather was nice and pleasant. We put a 100 yen coin into the telescope at the mountaintop and looked down at the lower world. We could see Seibu Dome, but we couldn't see women changing clothes... Afterwards, we saw the three trees behind Sanan Shrine (Childbearing Hinoki, Safe Childbirth Cedar, Couple Cedar)... Cheers! Beer on the mountain top is the best. You get drunk quickly because of the low air pressure.■Mt. Mitake Station ShopOh, how cute. I found a souvenir in the shape of a cable car! I decided to buy it as a memento...◆KEI-blun ¥500Since it's a cable car operated by Keio Electric Railway, it's called KEI-blun. Surprisingly, it's a simple naming. When you open the cable car-shaped box, there are Graham crackers inside. Eating them at home brings back fun memories. The biscuits have a crunchy texture and a common taste.【For more details, check out the blog for a more immersive experience】http://waraibuta2.blog.fc2.com/blog-entry-3502.html

Located at 17 Mt. Mitake, Ome City, Tokyo, Mt. Mitake Station, Mitake Soup for ¥300 - After conquering the steep staircase to Mt. Mitake Shrine for a visit, we finally arrived at the cable car station. Tables are set up in front of the shop, making it convenient to take a break and rest our tired legs. For those with cold bodies, a warm alcoholic drink is effective, but our car is waiting at the Takimoto Station below the cable car. The Mitake Soup is a pork miso soup made with Sawanoi sake lees and Ome pork, offering a rich and flavorful taste that warms you up.

My family and I went hiking on Mount Mitake over the weekend. On our way back, we stopped at the cable car station at the summit to eat salt-grilled ayu fish. We explored the area near the entrance to Nagaodaira on Mount Mitake. We took the cable car to ascend and descend the mountain, as it is said to be a beginner-friendly mountain, suitable for beginners. However, my past and present unhealthy lifestyle was clearly reflected in my body. My legs couldn't lift on the uphill, and my body couldn't move forward. I had to take breaks every 10 meters. After catching my breath at Nagaodaira, we headed back. The climb was quite challenging, but I felt a pleasant sense of fatigue and self-satisfaction when we reached the summit station. As we arrived at the station, a delicious aroma wafted through the air. "Welcome, we're grilling ayu fish," they called out to us. They were demonstrating and selling salt-grilled ayu fish over charcoal. The key to grilling fish is to use strong, indirect heat, and charcoal follows this rule. It cooks evenly from the center without generating excess steam, thanks to the far-infrared rays. On some days, they also have grilled iwana fish, but that day, it was only ayu fish. We tried the 500 yen salt-grilled ayu fish. They sprinkled decorative salt on the fins, giving it an authentic touch. Grilled fish calls for beer, in my opinion. Although sake like Sawanoi would have been ideal, we opted for beer to conserve energy for the journey back. The salt-grilled ayu fish was crispy on the outside and moist inside. The saltiness was just right, replenishing the minerals lost through sweating. Washing down the lingering saltiness and aroma with beer was truly satisfying. It had been a while since I had seen fish grilled over charcoal. Nowadays, grilled fish is mostly done in an oven even at izakayas. The smoky grilled fish was indeed delicious. The staff of the Mount Mitake climbing railway were always cheerful and efficient. When we were descending, there was a person in a wheelchair who needed assistance. Four strong members of the maintenance section assisted in boarding the wheelchair effortlessly and safely. The elderly lady in the wheelchair expressed her gratitude with a bow to the assisting staff. Mount Mitake is wonderful, but the people who protect and maintain the mountain are truly amazing. We will definitely visit again.

On November 25th, we went hiking in Okutama as a family. We took the cable car to Mount Mitake, which took about 2 hours round trip. It was a good exercise for my hangover body. However, when we arrived at the cable car station, the parking lot was full, so we had to walk down to the lower parking lot and ended up walking uphill for about 25 minutes. Thanks to that, my body felt refreshed, and when we got off the cable car, I was already hungry! I bought handmade "Char-chan manju" for 130 yen from a young salesperson (a guy, not a girl) here. It's a specialty of this shop and I found out it's made in Kosuge Village, Yamanashi Prefecture. Char-chan manju comes in various flavors like yomogi, takana, kinpira, kokuto, negi miso, and osatsu. It's quite popular, as only 2 flavors were left when we bought them, and they were sold out by 2 PM on our way back. I bought takana (the white one) and kokuto (the black one) for 130 yen each. Takana has stir-fried takana inside, a bit salty, with a simple skin. Kokuto has a sweet red bean paste filling, similar to the taste of my grandma's homemade manju. It may seem like a regular manju when eaten at home, but after exercising in nature, it becomes a delightful treat. I also bought smoked cheese from "Miyabi Kobo" on the way back, which was available for tasting. It's nice that they offer samples of various products.

On September 29, 2012, we hiked Mt. Mitake together. We took a break at the observation deck cafeteria and then descended on the lift. But before that, we couldn't resist the tempting sake manju (sweet buns) and kumisei tamago (seasoned eggs) at the station shop! The sake manju were lined up and priced at 100 yen each, making it hard to resist impulse buying (laughs). And the kumisei tamago, 2 for 200 yen, was also a must-buy. Such impulse purchases are unique to hiking outings!
