On Christmas, I was planning to buy a regular-sized cake because I couldn't finish a whole cake, but many individual shops only sell Christmas cakes on Christmas day. I went to a few places but couldn't find any, so I ended up going to Fujiya where they were selling a regular strawberry tart. It had a lot of strawberries and was delicious.

I revisited the shop in response to a request for Mont Blanc. After visiting various shops, I finally found one here. On Sunday around 4 pm, there were about 20 varieties in the showcase. I purchased: - "Strawberry Millefeuille (¥540)" rated 3.5 stars - "Kasama-grown Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc (¥390)" The "Millefeuille" was baked in the shop. It wasn't crispy due to the time that had passed, but it had a nice fragrance. The pastry had a moist texture and was delicious. The custard had a creamy and rich yet light consistency, which was tasty. I didn't try the Mont Blanc myself, but it received good reviews. It's easy to underestimate chain stores, but don't overlook the quality of freshly baked goods from individual shops.

Located in front of Nishidai Station, this well-known Western confectionery chain was visited after a long time. They were having a sweets support fair with some items on sale. I entered the store around 1 pm on Sunday. The showcase displayed over 20 varieties of sweets, with some indicating that they were baked in-store. The staff, two young female part-time workers who seemed to be students, greeted me warmly and struggled a bit to pack my purchases into a bag. I bought:
- "Plenty of Cream Puff (¥280)" - 3.0 stars
- "Freshly Baked Cream Puff (¥210)" - 3.5 stars
- "Amaou Strawberry & Milky Cream Puff (¥162→¥100)" - 4.0 stars
The "Plenty of Cream Puff" caught my eye with its Mont Blanc-like mound of cream. The pastry had a thick, substantial layer of pie crust that provided a satisfying bite. The cream was on the fluffy side, leaning towards the sweet side. The generous amount of cream and the substantial pie crust created a great sense of volume.
The "Freshly Baked Cream Puff" was a blend of fresh cream and custard. It paired better with the pie crust, but the sweetness was a bit strong for my liking.
The "Amaou Strawberry & Milky Cream Puff" was a packaged item from the central kitchen. The light, thin pastry was filled with plenty of strawberry cream. The loosely mixed cream with a lingering whipped texture had a strong strawberry flavor. It was satisfying to eat and might be delicious even when refrigerated. I really liked it.

Cake shop in front of Nishidai Station, famous for Peko-chan. The friendly, talkative uncle who runs the shop has been there for a long time. I bought a "Shortcake S (\2240)" for a birthday, aiming for Peko-chan. It doesn't have cream on the outside, so you can easily see the inside, which makes it feel safe but also a bit cheap. I'm not sure if this is normal, but there's an aura that makes you think, "Well, that's how it is here." I'll celebrate at home. By the way, Peko-chan was not well-received. Come to think of it, biting into a doll might be a bit weird, even if it's an animal. The taste itself is like a traditional flavor, with the whipped cream being sweet and rich. The sponge is not finely textured, but it's soft and decent in taste. They seem to have discounts for sets, and the prices are reasonable, so it might be worth trying to find a favorite. It's not incredibly delicious, but it's a cake you can eat with peace of mind.

Unfortunately, there is no eat-in space here. It is located right across from the West-dai Station exit. You can easily spot it because there is a Peko-chan figure in front of the shop. The shop looks quite old, so it seems like it has been around for a long time. I stopped by to buy a souvenir. I used to love Fujiya's fresh cream, but I find it a bit too rich for my taste now, maybe because of my age. So I haven't been buying cakes lately. On this day, I bought Peko-chan's cheek, which is still delicious as ever. The price is reasonable, and I finished it in no time.
