Unagi was on my mind so much! So, we went to Unajiro-san. It's too much trouble to think of a new restaurant, haha. We couldn't drink much last time, so today we're going for eel and drinks! We started with a raw small eel for 445 yen. Then we shared eel dishes with three people: eel liver for 1150 yen, eel roll for 1200 yen, grilled eel for 4070 yen, duck breast for 1200 yen, and eel rice bowl (large) for 4268 yen. Grilled eel is always the best, right? Crispy skin, juicy and fatty meat cooked over charcoal. The refreshing eel liver and the soft and flavorful eel roll are perfect for drinking. After eating all that, we had a bottle of Oita Takakiya Tokubetsu Junmai Hiyaroshi for 900 yen. They have a great selection of sake. The standout dish was the grilled eel. It's even crispier and juicier than the eel in a bowl. The quality of the wasabi was also top-notch, and the touch of salt was a nice addition. And then there was the eel rice bowl. The perfect balance of the eel's savory flavor and fatty goodness, with the refreshing taste of the sauce. It goes so well with rice. The pickled vegetables were so delicious that I had to order another round of shochu. Yes, my craving for eel has been satisfied! If you're looking to enjoy Kansai-style grilled eel in Osaka, Unajiro-san is the place to go. They have a great selection of sake, and the dishes are perfect for drinking. It was a fantastic meal. Thank you for the food.

In order to maintain the taste, the restaurant closes when the chef is taking a break. As I mentioned in another post, once a certain level is surpassed, the evaluation goes beyond taste to include individual preferences such as customer service and restaurant atmosphere. Personally, I think they are number one in terms of taste! Thank you for the meal today!

I made a reservation to visit the restaurant right after it opened at 11 am, but it was already fully booked. However, since I was alone, they were able to seat me right away. I was seated at a table with an acrylic partition, a personal tea pot, and a tabletop fan. I ordered the Unagi lunch set for 2,100 yen, which came with half a portion of eel, rolled omelette, and soup (I asked for half portion of rice). The food arrived in about 8 minutes and it was delicious! The eel had a crispy texture similar to Kansai-style, and the rice was slightly firm. The sauce was served in a separate bottle, which may make it seem diluted to some, but I personally liked it. I finished the meal quickly and wished I could have eaten more. Overall, the service was great and I will definitely come back again. The restaurant is located a 3-minute walk from the Tenjinbashi-suji shopping street, so be sure to visit!

I wanted to eat eel for lunch on a regular day, and since it was a hot summer, I thought it would be good to have a nutritious meal. I decided to visit "Unajiro" which I had been curious about for a while. I made a reservation over the phone in the morning, but they were fully booked, so I decided to head to the restaurant right when they opened at 11 am. I arrived 10 minutes early and was the first in line. I wrote my name on the waiting list and waited. Since I was the first one, I was seated immediately after they opened and got a table. I ordered the "Unaju (large)" as I had initially planned. It arrived in about 10 minutes. The Unaju had a whole eel, and it also came with eel rolls, eel liver, and a side dish. The presentation was impressive, and the eel was cooked perfectly, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior. The sauce was mild, but you could add more from the side dish if you preferred. The eel rolls and side dish were delicious as well. I enjoyed the meal while alternating between the eel and rice. The portion of rice was generous, and I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied. Considering the quality and quantity of the meal, the price was very reasonable. I definitely want to come back again.

I had Kansai-style grilled eel for the first time in a while! I love grilled eel, but this non-grilled version was delicious too. The taste was unforgettable... I think the hearty Kansai-style eel will be perfect for summer! The eel roll had a gentle flavor. I will definitely come back for more.

It was delicious anyway! I was unsure about Kansai-style eel. I was born in Tokyo and had never eaten the fluffy Kanto-style before, but the fluffy texture and the crispy grilling unique to Kansai were amazing. This was one of my last meals.

Located about a 4-minute walk from Minamimorimachi Station on the subway lines, this precious restaurant offers Kansai-style grilled eel. In contrast to the fluffy Kanto style, the Kansai style is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, allowing you to fully enjoy the richness and flavor of the eel. The "Unaju" dish, priced at 4378 yen, includes two pieces of grilled eel on top of rice. The crispy and fragrant skin, along with the juicy richness of the eel, spreads in your mouth when you bite into it. The dish also includes "Uramaki," an egg omelette with eel at its core, which is not only visually appealing but also a hospitable dish. You can also enjoy a fragrant and elegant clear soup, a side dish of sesame-dressed vegetables, and Nara pickles that are said to balance out the fat of the eel. This eel restaurant offers a taste of locally grilled eel. During lunchtime, there are often long lines forming even before the restaurant opens, but reservations are also possible. There are also lunch-exclusive menu items available.

This restaurant is highly recommended. If you want to eat eel in Kansai with good cost performance, I think this is the place to go. In a region where Kansai-style grilled eel is common, this restaurant uses a technique very close to Kansai-style grilling. They grill the eel freshly prepared with the head on, making it very fragrant. The eel is crispy on the outside but fluffy inside. The sweet eel sauce also goes really well with the rice. If this restaurant was near my house, I would definitely visit 5 or 6 times a month. It was incredibly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

At lunchtime, there were a few groups waiting in line, but I was able to get in after about 10 minutes. I ordered the "mabushi-don" (eel bowl). The portion was huge and the crispy texture of the skin was incredibly delicious! There was no unpleasant smell or taste, so even people who don't like eel might enjoy it. They had both freshly ground and powdered sansho pepper, so I could enjoy various ways of eating it. It was delicious. I will definitely visit again. ♥

I always crave this eel dish regularly! Whenever I go during lunchtime, there is almost a one-hour wait, but I made a reservation this time. They also allow baby strollers, which is convenient. When I mentioned it in advance, they prepared a table for us. The eel was crispy and fragrant on the outside, while soft and nicely fatty on the inside. The sauce was delicious too, so I recommend getting extra rice. Thank you for the meal.

I tried Kansai-style crispy eel for the first time! I visited this place because it had high ratings on Tabelog. The eel had a crispy and charred skin on the outside, while the inside was fluffy and soft. It was the perfect Kansai-style eel! I'm glad I chose to have my first Kansai-style eel here! ☺️

I have been curious about this eel restaurant in Temma for a while! It has a charming atmosphere located just south of the tower mansion. Although they didn't have the limited eel dish for 10 people on weekdays, I tried the regular eel dish! The outside was crispy, the inside was fluffy, and it was juicy. It's been a while since I had such delicious eel, and I am grateful for it! I will definitely visit again!

I have been to this place about 4 times in the past year. I love eel so much... It's crispy and well grilled, with a good amount of fat that tastes delicious. According to my friend, when they can't go to Fukuoka for eel, they come here. They said this is the best eel restaurant in Osaka. People who prefer Edo-style eel might find it a bit too fatty. I personally prefer the Kansai style. However, maybe due to my age, even if I have it for lunch, I get really full and can't eat dinner until later. (That's how delicious the fat on it is)

【Visit】February 26, 2023 (Sunday) 11:00
【Location】3-minute walk from Minami-morimachi or Osaka Tenmangu
【Reservation】Not required, but it was quickly fully booked.
【Order】Unagi-don (large): 4,268 yen
【Time until served】20 minutes
First, I was surprised by the price. For 4,268 yen, you get a luxurious unagi-don made with a whole eel, 2 pieces of eel roll, eel liver, pickles, and a small side dish. This price is quite a bargain compared to average unagi dishes, so I had some doubts about the taste and quality. However, as soon as the dish was served, I was convinced that my worries were unfounded.
The eel surface was still sizzling with fat, and when I touched it with chopsticks, I immediately understood the crispy texture unique to Kansai-style grilled eel. When I put it in my mouth, my teeth met the crispy eel surface, and as I bit into it, the umami and fat of the eel overflowed with a juicy sensation. It was such a luxurious and happy moment.
The flavor was slightly light, and you can adjust it with the special sauce on the table. I didn't want the texture of the Kansai-style grilled eel to soften by dipping it in sauce, so I added the sauce and sansho pepper right before eating each piece, and enjoyed it deliciously in no time.
I enjoyed the eel roll in four ways: 1) as it is, 2) with soy sauce, 3) with special sauce, and 4) with sansho pepper. I also finished the side dish of kinpira gobou and pickles without getting tired of it. It was a very delicious Kansai-style grilled eel restaurant. Thank you for the meal! ✨

My parents told me about a restaurant where you can eat good grilled eel at a reasonable price, so we went there together. We ordered an eel rice bowl (large), grilled eel, white miso salad, liver sashimi, and pickled vegetables, along with an eel sushi roll. It took about 15-20 minutes for the food to arrive. The eel sushi roll was soft and had a subtle dashi aroma, typical of Kyoto-style rolled omelette. The grilled eel was thin because it was grilled locally. When we opened the eel rice bowl, a wonderful aroma filled the air. The presentation was beautiful as well. First, I tried a bite of the eel without adding anything. Even without any seasoning, I could enjoy the original taste of the eel, which was crispy and chewy, with a deep flavor that intensified as I chewed. Some people prefer the firm texture of grilled eel, while others prefer the softer texture. Personally, I preferred the softer texture. My parents seemed to prefer the firmer texture, so I didn't say anything since they were treating me. The restaurant also served freshly ground Kishu sansho pepper on the eel, enhancing its flavor. The liver sashimi had no unpleasant smell or bitterness, and the large, tender liver was a delicately flavored dish. The restaurant's attention to detail was evident in the use of freshly ground pepper. As for drinks, they only offered hot tea in small cups, and I, being sensitive to hot temperatures, wished they had offered cold water. Unfortunately, there were no staff members on the floor to ask for it, as they seemed to be busy in the kitchen. It would have been nice to have a way to call for assistance.

I had unagi (eel) rice bowl for lunch on a weekday. I arrived a little after 11:00 and managed to grab the last available seat. My wife ordered a value lunch set while I had the unagi rice bowl. The eel was crispy and fragrant from being grilled. The slightly sweet sauce added to the delicious flavor.

I heard that it was a famous restaurant, so my wife and I went to eat there. We ordered a variety of eel dishes, including grilled eel, steamed eel, eel rice bowl, eel liver, eel cooked with sansho pepper, and pickles. Despite being a man, I was able to enjoy a satisfying amount of eel dishes. The grilled eel had a crispy surface, and as soon as I chewed it, the eel's fat spread in my mouth, creating a blissful experience. While writing this review, I already want to eat it again.

In Osaka, the grilled eel is unique with crispy skin and juicy, fluffy flesh. The eel seemed to be high-quality. It was a great dish with good value for money. The staff were friendly and there was nothing to complain about. I want to eat it every week! Thank you for the meal.

The limited menu of 10 meals per day was sold out. When I lined up and gave my name, I received a complimentary cup of hot tea. The eel rice bowl (regular) for 2475 yen was delicious with crispy and fragrant skin. The inclusion of eel rolls was a nice touch.

Second visit
I went for lunch on a Saturday again. I arrived before the opening time, but there was still a line. After waiting for about 40 minutes, I was finally seated. I was happy that they served warm tea while waiting outside. Since I received a bonus, I decided to go with the two-tiered eel box, which cost around 6400 yen. I started with a toast with beer and enjoyed the delicious layers of rice and eel in the box. It was so good that I feel like I can go without eel for a while. Thank you for the feast!

- Deluxe eel rice bowl (¥4,158) including tax
【Impressions】
It's Kansai-style grilled eel, but it was the crispiest eel I've ever had. Personally, I thought it was a bit too crispy, haha. The strong crispiness made it hard to feel the fluffy texture, which was a bit disappointing. However, the eel and sauce were delicious! The sauce had a strong soy sauce flavor, slightly salty rather than sweet, making the rice go down smoothly. The lunch also came with an eel roll, which was a nice addition. It's a popular restaurant, so there might be a line. Definitely give it a try!
