In November 2022, it was even ranked first in the Kansai region on the show "Magic Restaurant: Truly Delicious Okonomiyaki in the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe Area." Established in 1949, the interior of the restaurant with 46 seats has an atmosphere that feels like a time warp back to the Showa era. With a kitchen staff of 2 and 3 staff members for customer service (wearing black polo shirts and green aprons), the restaurant was bustling with a well-organized operation. This time, I ordered the "Chigusa-yaki 1,100 yen" listed on the menu. Here is the content and evaluation: Chigusa-yaki 1,100 yen: Using premium pork loin, this is the signature dish since the establishment's founding. When you choose this dish, the staff will cook it for you. The characteristic is to sandwich pork loin between a well-mixed batter of eggs, green onions, red pickled ginger, and tenkasu, and steam it while grilling it. It is cooked slowly on a well-maintained iron plate, taking about 9 minutes. When the edges become slightly crispy, it is turned over for the first time, and then grilled for another 4 minutes before being turned over again. After waiting for about 2 minutes, the thick Chigusa-yaki is ready! Enjoying it hot with okonomiyaki sauce, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and sesame seeds gives a classic taste that is very satisfying!
