Nihonbashi, Joaan-san I always go to Joaan at Ginza Mitsukoshi, so this might be my first time at Joaan in Nihonbashi. I couldn't find the Caramel Macadamia like usual... I saw the Chocolate Bread that was mentioned in reviews, so I bought the smaller one. It was around 1:30 PM on Sunday, and there were still some in stock. The Chocolate Bread (1/2) cost 346 yen. I love chocolate, but I probably wouldn't have bought it if I hadn't seen the reviews. When I cut it, there was a beautiful marble pattern. If this was the sample, I would definitely buy it. When I ate it, it was soft and had a satisfying chocolate flavor. It's a great snack. But... if I were to buy something, it would still be the Caramel Macadamia. By the way, at Joaan in Nihonbashi, they had Caramel Macadamia at the bulk section.

[2023.9.6] The feeling in my hand suggests a soft Coppepan. When I actually tasted it, the texture was fluffy all the way through. The sausage is also traditional, making this hot dog suitable for children and the elderly alike.

I usually buy the famous mini croissants as souvenirs, but this time I tried buying some deli bread for lunch for the first time. I bought a beef curry bread for 260 yen, a red bean paste bread for 195 yen, and a spicy salsa frank for 465 yen. Both the beef curry bread and the red bean paste bread had a small amount of filling. The crust of the spicy salsa frank was thick and crispy, and it was delicious.

This shop always seems to be crowded whenever you go. Looking at past reviews on Tabelog, it seems that the popular items are snack breads to enjoy when you're a bit peckish. Unfortunately, as someone who makes lunchtime walks a daily habit, this information wasn't particularly enticing for me. My goal was the Sandwich + One set. The sandwich selection wasn't very extensive, like in other shops, making it easy to choose. I went for the egg, ham, lettuce, and tomato sandwich. The color of the egg was excellent, indicating good quality ingredients. The lettuce was nice and crisp. As for the second item, there were so many types of bread that I couldn't decide right away, so I chose one near the sandwiches. It was a bread with edamame in it. It was surprisingly delicious. The taste was addictive. The bread itself was neither too hard nor too soft, and the edamame mixed in enhanced the overall texture. Despite the slight crowding, the staff's movements and service were smooth, not causing any stress. Thank you for providing a lunchtime walking experience with delicious bread.

Visited the store around 2 pm on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Mitsukoshi in Nihonbashi. There was a line at the register. Tried the Pissaladiere (¥281) from the French Fair, a limited item topped with onions, anchovies, and olives from Provence and Cote d'Azur. It had a rich aroma and was stylish. Also had the Kouign-Amann (¥324), a crispy butter-flavored pastry, and the curry donut (¥259), which was crispy. Tried the Vienna roll (¥292) with a different taste of Vienna sausages compared to other bakeries.Visited the store on Saturday afternoon, October 19, 2019. There is Johan in Mitsukoshi, or rather, Johan is in Mitsukoshi. The prices are a bit high, but the taste is guaranteed. They have original bread unique to each store, making it enjoyable.

On this day, I went to see a pottery exhibition at Shinjuku Gyoenmae and Mitsukoshi, and on the way back, I bought bread. The shop was Johan. It is a bakery located in the basement food section of Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi. Although I had passed by the shop many times before, I had never visited it, so I decided to stop by and try some bread. I bought three sweet breads: - Alicovair - Tea Time - Kouign Amann Alicovair: A French bread with adzuki beans. It has a buttery richness that goes well with the beans. Tea Time: A chewy bread with the scent of Earl Grey tea and lemon peel. It has a moistness reminiscent of steamed bread and is very delicious. Kouign Amann: Moist and gooey with a croissant-like texture that sticks to your teeth. Among the three, Tea Time was definitely the best. True to its name, it is a bread with the flavor of Earl Grey tea, almost resembling a cake. At around 200 yen each, it's quite affordable. Thank you for the meal.

[Johan Nihonbashi Joan Store] 1-4-1 Nihonbashi Muromachi, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store Main Building B1F Bucket (with dried fruits) Unknown A luxurious bucket filled with plenty of dried fruits. I received it as a souvenir from an acquaintance, so the product name & price are unknown. The dough is mildly sweet with a good wheat flavor. It matches well with the sweetness of the dried fruits, and both the volume and taste are satisfying. Thank you very much! ✌️

I went to the bakery for their black sugar buns that are baked three times a day. You can buy up to 10 buns per person. I love the combination of the sweetness of black sugar and the fluffy texture of the freshly baked buns. I also bought some kouign-amann, mini croissants, mini chocolate croissants, and the limited edition orange cheese mini Danish for April.

I usually pass by, but this time I ended up not stopping because I bought too much stuff elsewhere. I bought a variety of things, but I really liked the apple cinnamon bread that was recommended and placed in various places. I don't know why I don't have a picture... It's a simple, old-fashioned type of bread that you tear apart to eat, but maybe the cinnamon is what makes it good. The other breads were also delicious in their own way.

Is JOHAN the most popular chain store? It has really high ratings, right? I bought it because I didn't feel like going to a different place after Mitsukoshi. I understand that they have a wide variety of options, but it gives me a similar impression to San Germain and Andersen.

This is a bakery that is located in Mitsukoshi department stores nationwide. After dining at Mitsui Nihonbashi Tower, I bought some pastries to take home. I got a Petit Bataard (254 yen), Beef Curry Bun (260 yen), Curry Donut (249 yen), and Wiener Roll with Sausage (260 yen). The Petit Bataard is said to be a bite-sized portion, but it's actually quite big. The corn bread seems to be popular, as there was a line waiting for it to come out of the oven. The store was crowded, so I quickly made my purchase and left. I will update on the taste later. UPDATE 1: I had the Beef Curry Bun, which tasted like a baked curry bun with a light texture. It's a sweet curry, so anyone can enjoy it. My son had the Curry Donut and finished it in seconds, so it must have been delicious. My wife had the Wiener Roll, reheated it in the toaster oven, and enjoyed it. It's amazing quality for the price. UPDATE 2: I sliced the Petit Bataard, lightly toasted it in the toaster oven, and served it with butter and mayonnaise as a snack with drinks. The crust is really hard, almost like it could stick in your gums. Surprisingly, it went well with shochu.

I love mini croissants, and ever since my friend told me about this place, I always stop by here whenever I have errands in Nihonbashi. There's always a line, but the wait is quick. They ask if you need a bag for storage, so when I buy a lot, I always get one. Delicious...!!

Long time no see Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi. When it comes to Mitsukoshi, it's Joaan. When I lived in Sapporo, it was the bakery I visited the most. They have a wide variety of bread and consistently delicious flavors. ・Croissant: Crispy, with clearly defined layers and a balanced buttery flavor. ・Hard toast: Coarse texture, crispy when toasted, light but with a strong salty taste. ・Domestic apple pie: Classic pie crust with a high outer layer, allowing you to savor the pie crust, filled with plenty of apples inside. The apple slices and flavor were slightly different from my preference, but I generally like this type. You won't find this type of apple pie in trendy cake shops, but you can see it almost year-round in chain bakeries. ・Sweet potato and cheese bread: Only cheese is visible on the surface, but when cut, it's like sweet potato paste like in an anpan. The fluffy dough is topped with cheese, onions, and a hint of spice. The sweet potato is covered with cheese, creating a harmonious overall taste. (Surprised that the last review was in 2018)

After having lunch, I headed to Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store. I went there to purchase Joaan's chocolate bread, which I couldn't buy first thing in the morning at Mitsukoshi Ginza Store! The underground food market was very crowded. When I arrived at Joaan, I was able to purchase the chocolate bread successfully! Joaan specializes in chocolate bread. Joaan's Chocolate Bread ¥310 Discount -¥30 Consumption tax ¥22 Total ¥302

The aroma of freshly baked bread fills the air, and there is a line forming for croissants sold by weight. Panettone is an Italian fermented bread made with generous amounts of egg yolk and butter, fermented with the Lievito madre starter for a soft dough. It is filled with sultana raisins, orange peel, lemon peel, and other dried fruits. Fruit cream cheese offers a smooth cream cheese filling with a crispy crust and dried fruits. The Donut Curry Bread is a gentle curry bread filled with curry filling. Next time, I want to come and try the rumored freshly baked corn bread.

After shopping at Mitsukoshi department store in Nihonbashi, I bought a sandwich to go. I usually buy deli bread, but today I chose a sandwich. It had various fillings and was small in size, making it easy to eat little by little or as a light lunch. It was delicious as always.

I had lunch at a teppanyaki restaurant just a minute away from Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi, and then I headed to the B1 floor of Mitsukoshi. It was a bit crowded, perhaps due to the rain, but the line was shorter than usual. Thanks to that, I was able to buy 12 corn breads for my friends, who are all elderly and two pieces are enough for a family. In addition, I also bought cream bread (they only gave me one bite), anpan, and a large French bread (boule). The bread corner was out of stock. I had the boule for breakfast this morning. I sliced it thinly diagonally, toasted it in a pop-up toaster until it was slightly brown, topped it with pizza cheese, and baked it in the oven for about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, our oven only goes up to 220°C, so I had to give up on getting a crispy crust. I also toasted one piece of corn bread and enjoyed them together. The breakfast was satisfying, but the chorizo I bought for the first time was unpopular because it was too salty.

◎Shop Name: Johan ◎NPS (Customer Recommendation Score 0-10): 9 points ◎Highly rated on Tabelog for bread ◎Order: Corn bread. ¥80. Review: The corn bread looks and tastes great. It is freshly baked at 12:30 and 15:00, with a chewy texture and a sweet flavor that is not too overwhelming. It is often used as hamburger buns and goes well with dishes like stew. ◎Location: Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi ◎Ordering method: Customers are asked for their order in front of the store based on the line order. Customers can choose other bread as well before proceeding to payment. ◎Product Quality: 80 points, Service: 80 points, Cleanliness: 80 points ◎Overall rating: 80 points out of 100 ◎Overall satisfaction: I was looking for buns and have been using them multiple times. They only have small corn bread here, but you can buy large ones in Ginza. It's a hidden gem with minimal waiting time. Highly recommended for hamburger buns. I would definitely like to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Exploring the basement of Mitsukoshi Nihonbashi Main Store... (*^o^*) Mitsukoshi has a splendid appearance with a rich history! There is a large lion statue at the entrance, and many people were taking photos there (^.^) I went to a bakery in the basement♪ There was a long line when I arrived, and I wondered why... but it turned out they were lining up for freshly baked bread (°▽°) Baked at 11 o'clock!! Black sugar roll, 1 piece for 140 yen (excluding tax) This bread has black sugar mixed into chocolate! It smells so good, I had to get in line❤︎(⌒▽⌒) You can buy up to 10 pieces per person, and I bought only 2(о´∀`о) They put them in a paper bag for me, and then I lined up at the register... There were chairs at the end of the floor where you could sit and relax, so I enjoyed the bread there❤︎ A roll bread with black sugar and chocolate mixed in(^ー^) Seriously delicious, this flavor is addictive! I understand why everyone was buying so many. The bread I wanted to eat was right here. It was a delightful meal.

(I will continue with Tokyo posts for a while) Bagel for 190 yen, Cheese Pretzel for 300 yen. Joaan never disappoints. It's delicious. This pretzel was my first time buying. The crunchy cheese texture reminds me of pie or Danish, but the base is definitely a pretzel. So good!♡
