The spicy version has a strong taste of Sichuan pepper, while the regular version actually feels spicier. The ginger adds a nice kick, and the spiciness lingers, making it hard to stop eating. The century egg tofu ordered as a side dish is well-seasoned, with a light and refreshing taste that is not common in other restaurants. A local acquaintance recommended this place to me, and it was my first visit. The authentic Chinese cuisine here offers great value for the price. The Mapo Tofu, a specialty dish, is quite spicy even as the default option. It goes without saying that it pairs perfectly with white rice. I left feeling full and happy after a satisfying lunchtime.

Personally, I'm not good with spicy food, so I ordered the special 2 types of pan-fried dumplings. The round one has meat inside, and the flat one seems to be chive dumplings. The chef seems to have worked at a five-star hotel in China. I visited the restaurant right when it opened, so I could easily get a seat. By the time it was 12:00, the second floor was already full.

The seven-year memorial service at the temple has ended, and now it's time for a celebration. My wife and her mom friends have made a reservation at our favorite restaurant for 7:00 pm. Even the kids who were at work during the day will join us. We ordered plenty of drinks like draft beer, highball, Shaoxing wine, and enjoyed dishes like wood ear mushrooms with eggs, stir-fried pork, dumplings, spring rolls, Sichuan-style beef, noodles, Chinese-style fried rice, stir-fried water spinach, stir-fried shrimp and seafood, and fried rice. We couldn't finish all the food, but the bill was only 13,000 yen with change. It was a great meal as always!

It's been a while since I attended a social gathering here. The classic tamagoyaki and mapo tofu were as delicious as ever. The appetizers had a gentle seasoning, more like Japanese cuisine than Chinese. The sweet and sour pork was a classic and tasty dish. We spent 3 hours chatting leisurely, ordering a la carte, and were allowed to stay until closing. The master kindly saw us off at the end. 🍽️

Mapo tofu Rice 850 yen I have been coming here for lunch at least twice a week since long ago. It's located next to Kansai TV, so I often see celebrities. I've met Mrs. Gotoda, Mrs. Izumi Motoya, and Rosan, among others. It's not just delicious, but the spiciness is just right. It's hard to find Mapo tofu with this level of spiciness. The dish only contains minced meat and tofu. The sauce is a type without ginger, with a thick consistency that doesn't solidify. And most importantly, it goes well with rice. It's better with rice than with beer. If you mix it too much, it becomes watery, so I scoop up only the top layer to eat. Eating it while putting it on top of rice makes you eat it quickly. It seems like you can't eat much, but before you know it, it's all gone. After a while, I feel like eating it again. I'll be back, Mr. President.

Fortunately, I remembered that there was a new branch nearby, so I headed to "Chugoku Shifu Soryu-ki Temma Station Front Store." This branch is open year-round, which was convenient. Although they were not selected in 2023, they were previously chosen as one of the top 100 Chinese restaurants in the "Former Chinese Top 100 Restaurants" in 2021. When I visited on that Monday afternoon, the restaurant was quite empty. I decided to order the "Small Shrimp Five-Ingredient Fried Rice" as a single item. It arrived promptly in about 5-6 minutes. The fried rice had a unique sour taste, which was a bit surprising. As I examined each ingredient, the egg was perfectly cooked, the edamame was fine, and the small shrimp had a nice texture and flavor. The standout ingredient was the large-cut onions, which added a strong presence with their sweet and sour taste. Additionally, there was salted meat, which had a distinctive salty and spicy flavor from Chinese spices. When I combined the meat and onions, the initial sourness made sense. The rice was made with Japanese rice and had a rich color with a well-balanced seasoning of soy sauce. Overall, the taste was subjective and might not suit everyone. While the taste and value did not quite reach a 3-star rating, the service and atmosphere exceeded that level. The overall rating was 3.2, which is above average. The restaurant offers authentic Chinese cuisine with a touch of Japanese taste, making it worth a visit, despite some drawbacks. Single noble friend company president and I left the café Angle at closing time at 5:30 pm and arrived at the dinner venue for a cross-industry exchange meeting at 5:35 pm. The president of Soryu-kyo was waiting at the cashier on the first floor, so I greeted him saying "Long time no see!" He replied quickly as always, "Long time no see! Are you going up first? We have a private room at the back on the second floor! It starts at 6 pm so no one else is here yet!" I replied, "Well then, I'll go up first." On the second floor, there were already three groups of customers enjoying their meals. Around 5:50 pm, everyone gathered and started with beers (except me, I had oolong tea). The appetizers were delicious and suited everyone's taste. I usually don't choose Chinese food, but this day I thoroughly enjoyed the Chinese cuisine.
