大阪めんま
In Osaka City, Kita Ward, there is a confectionery shop called "HIBIKA" located on the basement floor of Hankyu Umeda Main Store. This shop is one of the brands of "Edelweiss Co., Ltd." and was established in 2017. In addition to the store visited at Hankyu Umeda Main Store, they also have a store at Nihonbashi Takashimaya in Tokyo, and operate an online shop. "Edelweiss Co., Ltd." started in 1966 with a small 7-tatami shop called "Edelweiss" in Tachibana, Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture. They now have their headquarters in Sannomiya-cho, Chuo-ku, Kobe City, and besides HIBIKA, they have various other brands such as "Antenor," "Le Vian," "Noa Du Bour," "Biscuiterie Bretonne," "Murir Myuril," and group companies including "Edelweiss Okinawa," "Giandino," and "Tokyo Lemonche." They also have a business partnership with the Belgian royal warrant confectionery store "Vita Maille," founded in Brussels in 1910, and were the first in the world to open a second store in Japan in 1990. "HIBIKA - Four Seasons Confectionery Store" was created with the desire to create a new type of "Japanese Western confectionery" that values delicate and modest sensibilities and aesthetics rooted in Japanese food culture, where one can enjoy the taste of the seasons down to the appearance and color. All products are seasonal limited editions, so the lineup changes with the four seasons of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Passing by the shop, you will always see beautiful and elegant sweets that make you feel the season displayed in the showcase, a shop that has always caught my attention. I visited on a Sunday after 7 pm, and it was a popular shop with a constant line of customers. This time, I came to buy cakes, and at that time, there were still quite a few types available. I visited in mid-February, and this season is from November 16 to February 28 as "Winter Four Seasons Confectionery." The cakes range from 650 yen to 750 yen, which is slightly on the higher side. It's interesting that all the cake names are in Japanese, even though they are cakes, which is unique to "Japanese Western confectionery." I purchased two cakes that caught my eye this time. [Awayuki - Strawberry and Fromage] 750 yen (tax included) (Product Description) A delicate mousse with a smooth and rich cheesecake flavor wrapped in a sweet and sour strawberry pulp jelly. The meringue coated with white chocolate is an accent. The creamy and slightly acidic cheesecake mousse flavor, balanced with the fragrant and fruity strawberry, is exquisite. The rich white chocolate and crunchy meringue texture also make for a wonderful accent, and it was the best cake in terms of both visual and taste. [Fuyumikan - Wenzhou Mandarin Orange and Chocolate Mousse] 700 yen (tax included) (Product Description) Wenzhou mandarin oranges, in season in winter, are paired with chocolate. The mandarin orange mousse wraps the Wenzhou mandarin orange confiture and chocolate mousse. The lightly elegant chocolate mousse has a crispy and rich chocolate flavor at the bottom, and the mandarin orange spreads gently throughout, with overall sweetness being restrained. Despite the visually striking mandarin oranges, the cake was unexpectedly focused on the chocolate flavor. Both were delicious, but especially the Awayuki was outstanding. The prices are a bit high, so I may not be able to buy them frequently, but this shop has become a favorite in Hankyu Umeda Main Store. The sweets here are perfect not only for yourself but also as gifts. I would like to try other seasonal sweets as well. Thank you for the meal!
