River fish, which are really children who swam in the river, cannot be eaten as sashimi. I didn't know this until this age. It's dangerous unless they are children raised in clean water. This is a rare shop where you can eat river fish sashimi. It seems to have originally been a shop in Hachioji. It has become popular and expanded to Kichijoji. The person who brought me here used to go to the Hachioji shop often. According to that person, the Hachioji shop is slightly better. But I enjoyed it enough and it was delicious. We also had eel liver skewers and Yanagawa. As soon as we sat down, they brought us a bottle with dancing fish inside, which was a little entertainment.

I visited a rare shop specializing in river fish. The sashimi of iwana (rock fish) had no fishy smell and a refreshing taste. The bones can be fried for you. When you order the Yanagawa dojou (loach), you can see the live dojou before it's cooked. It's a process of removing the smell while getting drunk with alcohol. The picture of the bottle captures the lively atmosphere, but I couldn't quite get the expression right. The drink menu is well-balanced, and the Shirohonoka beer was my first time trying it. It's a limited edition from Sapporo Beer available at select stores. It had a fruity flavor with a soft mouthfeel and fine bubbles. It's rare to find a restaurant in Tokyo that can offer this level of river fish cuisine. Thank you for the meal.

I had the Fuji no Kai Don for 1300 yen. It offers great value for the price. Fuji no Kai is a hybrid of king salmon and rainbow trout. It is delicious when lightly dipped in wasabi-infused soy sauce and placed on top of rice. The dish is beautifully presented with slices of fish arranged like flowers and small fish roe in the center. The meal also includes miso soup, warm tofu, chawanmushi, a small rolled omelet, and pickles. I visited the restaurant in Kichijoji after watching a movie at the Odéon on a Sunday afternoon around 1:30 pm. The restaurant was quite spacious with only one other couple as customers. Despite being a landlocked prefecture, the fish hybrid was developed by the Yamanashi Prefectural Fisheries Technology Center.

Specializing in river fish, this shop was previously featured on the TV show "Yuyake Sakaba". I arrived right when they opened and was seated at the counter in a stylish setting. The appetizers included simmered koi fish, carp in a delicious sauce, and sashimi of live rockfish. I also had smoked char, fried rockfish bones, and a bottle of beer, all of which were seasoned perfectly. Feeling adventurous, I ordered rockfish bone sake, eel tail, eel fin, and grilled mountain trout. The customers were mostly elderly, while the staff were all foreigners who provided excellent and polite service. It turned out to be a better dining experience than I had expected. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Exceeding expectations of the phrase "river fish" by multiple levels! Enjoy dojyo, eel, and ayu in unique cuts and preparations! Delicious drinks and surprisingly reasonable prices! A great restaurant recommended for those without a strong aversion to river fish!

Dinner at Ogawa no Sakana-san, which I had been interested in for a while. Upon entering, there was a large water tank with lively iwana and yamame swimming around. The appetizer was nanohana ohitashi, which made me feel the arrival of spring. I started with the famous iwana bone sake, which had a fragrant aroma similar to blowfish fin sake. Next, I ordered the three kinds of river fish platter, which included carp sashimi, iwana sashimi, and rainbow trout sashimi. I enjoyed the slightly unique flavor of the carp sashimi, followed by the chewy iwana sashimi, and the refreshing rainbow trout that had a nice light taste. The restaurant's attention to detail was evident when they served the iwana sashimi in the form of tempura, which was very delicious.

On April 24, 2021 (Saturday) dinner (1). With my partner. We decided to try out a newly opened izakaya that opened on April 6. It's located just off Suehiro Street, next to Doi-chan. The building is still under construction or renovation on the exterior. The counter is in a horseshoe shape surrounding the kitchen, with additional table seating available. There were 3 groups of customers, about 7 people in total. I ordered a draft beer, and Sapporo Shiho Noka was served. It was quite delicious, so I kept drinking it throughout the night. It seems that a river fish specialty store from Hachioji has opened a branch in Kichijoji. When I opened the menu booklet, they were strongly recommending the "Fuji no Suke" brand trout from Yamanashi Prefecture. We ordered the Fuji no Suke sashimi platter (1540 yen), Fuji no Suke belly (440 yen), two pieces of eel skewers labeled as "directly delivered from Mikawa, Aichi" (440 yen each), grilled vegetable skewers with leeks (220 yen), shiitake mushrooms (440 yen), and garlic (440 yen). The eel skewers arrived first. Hmm, perhaps because they weren't steamed, they weren't as tasty as the eel skewers from a specialty shop. The Fuji no Suke sashimi platter included trout and carpaccio. The Fuji no Suke was a beautifully colored sashimi in orange and pink, with a taste similar to salmon but lighter and cleaner like trout. It was my first time trying carpaccio, which had a texture similar to amberjack and a slightly crispy texture. The carpaccio was delicious. All the fish had no fishy smell at all. The Fuji no Suke belly was also quite tasty. I ate it while thinking of Richard Brodygan (tears). The background music played was nostalgic English and American pop music from our era. Songs like Billy Joel's "Honesty," Dixie Midnight Runners' "Come on Eileen," Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now," and Carole King's "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" were playing. However, since the news of Leslie McKeown's passing was announced yesterday, I think my partner had the Bay City Rollers' songs playing in their head all night. A foreign cook was making a very appetizing stir-fry dish and fried fish, and I was wondering which dish it was on the menu, but it turned out to be the staff meal (laughs). The most energetically prepared dish in the kitchen tonight was the staff meal (laughs). We had 5 draft beers between the two of us, and the total bill was 8030 yen. The food was okay, but if they had a bit more variety other than river fish, I think people would be more inclined to visit regularly. For example, I think they should serve that staff meal dish. Also, I hope they stop calling out to the staff loudly in front of the customers...

I went to a restaurant called "Fuji no Suke" for the Ayu x King Salmon river fish. The sashimi at Fuji no Suke was beautifully arranged like rose petals, with vibrant colors. The taste was not too oily and melted in your mouth. The grilled Harasu with salt and wasabi was my favorite. The eel dishes, including kabayaki, liver, and shiroyaki, were all satisfying. The appetizer was chawanmushi with a hint of plum flavor, which was delicious.
