Located right next to Kitashinchi Station, on the 1st floor of Osaka Station Front Building, is "Gensan-an" where I visited. Gensan-an is a health food restaurant that focuses on carefully selected ingredients such as vegetables and brown rice from beautiful natural villages across Japan. They have multiple branches including this Nishi-Umeda branch, Yodoyabashi Odona branch, Tennoji Mio Plaza branch, Umeda Est branch, Hankyu Umeda branch, Sakaisuji Hommachi branch, and Keihan City Mall branch. They are open from Monday to Friday from 11:30 to 21:00, and on Saturdays and holidays from 11:30 to 18:00. Lunch reservations are not accepted (dinner reservations are accepted). Recommended dishes include the healthy set meal with 39 ingredients centered around brown rice and vegetables, with signature dishes like vegetable-packed brown rice curry and sweet and spicy brown rice bowl with local chicken.
[Items I tried this time]
Daily 39-ingredient healthy set meal - 1,270 yen
This popular set meal at Gensan-an consists of over 39 ingredients including seasonal vegetables, totaling around 600kcal. The main dish varies daily, and this time it was Healthy Chicken Cutlet - 146kcal, Small side dishes of salt-sautéed cabbage and bitter melon - 31kcal, Tofu salad - 33kcal, Sweet and spicy simmered glass noodles - 27kcal, Brown rice, Miso soup, Soy milk pudding. Before the meal, you get a "drinkable vegetable salad" based on apple juice with plenty of seasonal vegetables. The brown rice, grown in a reduced pesticide contract farm in Okuizumo, Shimane Prefecture, is cooked in a pressure cooker to the perfect firmness. The main dish of Healthy Chicken Cutlet has a hidden miso flavor in the tomato sauce, creating a great balance of miso richness and tomato acidity. The soy milk pudding dessert was delicious. By consuming over 39 ingredients, today's total calorie intake was 576kcal! As someone who tends to have a skewed diet due to eating out frequently, this health set meal really balanced me out. Wishing everyone good health always, this health food restaurant conveys that sentiment. Thank you for the meal!
