I was taken to a nice place in Sasazuka where I could enjoy wine in a casual way. It's located 30 seconds from Sasazuka station, on the 2nd floor of a building that houses a supermarket and a bowling alley. The atmosphere is like a French-based new bistro with a bar-like feel, offering a variety of natural wines as well as highballs to start with before moving on to white and red wines by the glass alongside the food. The appetizers included a trio of dishes: an omelette with potatoes, chicken breast cooked at low temperature with leek sauce, and marinated onions and prosciutto. It was just the right amount for a starter with the first drink. There was also fresh mushrooms topped with bonito flakes and served with roasted eggplant puree, balsamic vinegar, and smoked soy sauce for a creative touch. For pasta, there was a marinara ragout with plenty of seafood, olives, capers, and a unique touch of hijiki seaweed. The main course consisted of roasted chicken thigh and half a zucchini, both roasted with Cajun spice sauce and herbs.

Sasazuka Beer was delicious. It's a dark beer but easy to drink. The oyster oil pickles were tasty without any fishy taste. The fig butter had a good balance of sweetness from the figs and richness from the butter, not too heavy. The fragrant cheesecake had a crispy brulee-like top and was very delicious. The pizza was average. The atmosphere was stylish and relaxing, which was great.

It's on the second floor of Sasazuka Bowl North Exit. It was quite good. This was the second stop for a small office party in Sasazuka. We had already finished four bottles of wine at the first Italian place, so everyone was pretty drunk, but it was still early so we headed here. Before going, I called to check if there were available seats. The interior is mainly white. The hanging lights from the ceiling are interesting. It's like the round incense in Chinese or Taiwanese temples. There is an oval counter with chair and sofa seating around it. The name "MANIMAL" seems to be a combination of man and animal. I'm not sure of the details though. Today's orders were French fries with anchovy butter for 580 yen, chicken gizzards and leeks in garlic oil for 780 yen, bread for 250 yen, La Natura Insolia (Italian, Sicilian, white bottle) for 3,500 yen, and a soft drink for 400 yen including tax. I used it for the annual Christmas dinner with friends. I was surprised by the good atmosphere the moment I entered. It feels like it could be in Roppongi or somewhere. The food is delicious and cost-effective, so I tend to order a lot. In particular, the pasta was delicious. I would definitely like to use it again.
