The Christmas mood in the shopping street is increasing. I had a pasta lunch at "Italian Restaurant Tomato" in Happy Road Oyama. This place has good value for money and the taste is satisfying. I ordered the B set of fresh pasta lunch (Stone-grilled spicy tomato soup pasta with seafood) for 1,045 yen. The set comes with salad and a drink. The spicy fresh pasta in the hot stone pot has a good level of spiciness and the taste is great, staying hot until the end. It was a nice lunch time with an iced coffee to finish.

The assorted appetizers come with a small beer for only 500 yen, so we ended up having a total of 5 carafes of wine. My wife doesn't drink alcohol, so my daughter and I shared 2.5 liters between us. The garlic sprinkles that were set on each table were so delicious that we sprinkled them on pizza, pasta, and various other dishes. I wonder what they are made of? Anyway, my wife was happy, and my daughter was in a great mood. It was all thanks to the tomato dishes.

I was happy to be able to eat leisurely, but it was short-lived as a lively family came in for tea and the staff deliberately seated them right in front of me, despite plenty of other available seats. This made me feel uncomfortable, especially with the current situation with COVID-19 and social distancing measures. Feeling rushed, I quickly finished my meal and left the restaurant. Despite the initially high level of favorability during my first visit, I was a bit disappointed by the customer handling. In hindsight, there are other pasta lunch options for under 1000 yen, and maybe I should have just gone to Saizeriya. These were the thoughts running through my mind as I left the restaurant.

One day, I took a half day off from work for an important errand and headed to Oyama Station in Itabashi. After spending quite a bit of time on my errand, I realized it was already evening. As I walked through the bustling arcade shopping street to buy dinner, I came across a place called Tomato, an Italian restaurant. Although it's not related to the famous Italian Tomato Cafe Junior, known as Itatoma, the sign said "casual Italian dining." I decided to go in since it was already evening. The interior was spacious, and it was indeed different from Italian Tomato Cafe Junior. I sat down and ordered a highball for casual drinking at 500 yen. After a while, the highball and three types of snacks for casual drinking were served, and they looked delicious! I tried them, and each snack paired well with the highball. Although the portions were small, all three snacks had great flavors. I only intended to have one drink, but ended up ordering another one. Overall, it was delicious for around 1,000 yen!

Today we had a training seminar in the afternoon. Before that, let's have lunch. We had a bit of time, so we went to an Italian restaurant that also serves drinks. For the amount of food we got, all under 1,000 yen, it was quite a good deal. The meat and fish dishes that others were having also looked delicious.

The mentaiko pasta and white wine ordered with one voucher were delicious. The fresh pasta has a chewy texture. Smoking is allowed even during lunch, so non-smokers should be cautious.

I have been to many places from high-end to low-end, but the food here is really delicious! The menu honestly doesn't look that fancy (sorry), but the taste of this place is just amazing. You can't go wrong with any dish you order, and the seasoning is so addicting. It's common for me to order the same dish twice. I feel more satisfied coming here than going to a fancy course meal. The prices are reasonable and it's easy to visit, and even though they try to have a somewhat stylish atmosphere (sorry), I really like the unpretentious vibe. The staff is also friendly, making it a beloved Italian restaurant for the common people in Japan. This is what I think a great restaurant is all about.
