I knew there was a shop in Oyama Shopping Street since a long time ago, but because of the sign, I thought it was part of the Itatoma Jr. group (I think many people might think the same). I entered for the first time on a Saturday evening. I usually move slowly and often miss the normal lunchtime at regular restaurants, but to my delight, this shop serves lunch until 4:00 pm. There were various lunch menus to choose from, and I was indecisive. I ordered the cheapest option, a pasta lunch for 979 yen including tax. The pasta lunch came with a choice of pasta, salad, potato salad, garlic toast, a bite-sized focaccia, dessert, and a drink. There was a drink bar where you could pour one drink yourself. It was hot, so I chose iced coffee. The potato salad was quite delicious, but the salad was mainly daikon and not very impressive. The bread was a small amount, but both were delicious. I chose the squid peperoncino pasta, but when it arrived, the bacon was noticeably prominent, making me briefly wonder if they got my order wrong. However, upon closer inspection, I found the squid as well. Perhaps it was a cost-cutting measure, considering the price. After the meal, a mini-sized panna cotta dessert was also included. All of this for less than 1000 yen was amazing. The restaurant was unexpectedly spacious, with only one group of customers before me. I was happy to be able to eat leisurely, but it was short-lived as a lively family came in for tea and the staff deliberately seated them right in front of me, despite plenty of other available seats. This made me feel uncomfortable, especially with the current situation with COVID-19 and social distancing measures. Feeling rushed, I quickly finished my meal and left the restaurant. Despite the initially high level of favorability during my first visit, I was a bit disappointed by the customer handling. In hindsight, there are other pasta lunch options for under 1000 yen, and maybe I should have just gone to Saizeriya. These were the thoughts running through my mind as I left the restaurant.
