I was watching TV and saw it being introduced by Watanabe, so I was curious. Since the restaurant is close to my workplace, I decided to stop by after work. Due to the Watanabe effect, the same-day reservations were full. The next day, there were openings for two people, so my senior and I decided to go. We ordered the raw and grilled chicken skin for starters! We had to eat the grilled chicken skin before getting drunk. The taste is certainly delicious. It's different from regular chicken skin. The fat is also reduced, making it easy to eat. Before we knew it, we had eaten 10 pieces (laughs). We quite liked it. Moreover, this restaurant, despite being an izakaya, serves other delicious dishes as well. Even though we drank too much, the price was a bit higher than usual, but both of us were very satisfied. We'll definitely go back again. ( ´ ▽ ` )

There was an event at Hibiya Park, and a chicken skin shop from Fukuoka was set up (not Kawaya). My husband and I each had one piece of chicken skin, and unexpectedly, it was delicious, so my husband wanted more. It brought back memories of Fukuoka after eating chicken skin for the first time in a while. When I mentioned that there is a Kawaya shop in Tokyo as well, he decided to go there. Kawaya often sets up booths at department store events, etc. They offer sets of 10 or 20 pieces for takeout. We then moved to Oimachi and arrived at the shop. We were seated at the counter. - Cabbage appetizer 440 yen x2 - Grilled chicken skin 187 yen x6 - Pork belly 198 yen x2 - Chicken liver 187 yen - Chicken meatball 187 yen - Grilled yam 330 yen x2 - Garlic tomato 418 yen - Boiled asparagus 473 yen - Lemon sour cocktail 429 yen (2nd glass 319 yen) - Iced oolong tea 385 yen First, we were served cabbage as an appetizer. I thought, "Huh, isn't cabbage supposed to be free as an appetizer?" I was a bit surprised. If it's an appetizer, can we get a refill? (I didn't ask for a refill as we left it unfinished, so this question remained unanswered.) We had three pieces of chicken skin each. After a bite, I thought, "The one at Hibiya Park was tastier." The difference was that the one at the park had no extra fat and was crispy, while this one... I think it would be better if it was cooked a bit more. Was Kawaya like this? The pork belly also had a strong pork smell. We also ordered chicken meatballs and chicken liver skewers. We were confused about where to put our bags, and even when we asked, they didn't bring out a basket for our bags. When they finally brought it out, it was too small for our bags, and when we were struggling, they ignored us. The attitude of the staff can change your mood even if you don't like the food. We left early feeling uncomfortable.

Recently, I have been traveling to Fukuoka frequently. When you think of Fukuoka, you think of the delicious grilled chicken skin. Popular places like Kawa-ya and Torikawa Daimin are always packed and hard to get into. So, I decided to try this relatively less crowded restaurant in Tokyo. Of course, I came here to eat chicken skin, so I started with 10 pieces. The chicken skin marinated in sauce was flavorful and had a nice bounce to it, perfect for a beer snack. It was so delicious that I could easily eat dozens of them. People in Fukuoka really know their food. Another specialty here is the grilled chicken skewers. The chicken breast is cooked perfectly and served with wasabi soy sauce. I was amazed by the tenderness and flavor. You have to order this when you come here. They also have crispy wing dumplings and crunchy bell peppers. The bell peppers were surprisingly delicious, with no bitterness and a perfect texture, paired well with miso. I wonder if they do some special preparation. I also enjoy the torotaku wrapped in Korean seaweed. Everything here is perfect for accompanying drinks. I ended up drinking too much. Next time, I definitely want to try the restaurants in Hakata.

Kawaya in Hakata is very popular. The menu is not extensive, but they offer delicious skewers and specialties like mentaiko, giving you the feeling of drinking at a Hakata street stall. The perfect way to end your meal is with their grilled ramen. They serve Suntory beer, which is carb-free, and they have a special deal where the more you drink, the more you save, making it a great choice for those who enjoy drinking.

It's strange how I crave for kawagoyaki periodically. Despite having a business trip to Kyushu next week, I couldn't resist and visited the restaurant. I started with 10 pieces of kawagoyaki. Don't think that it's just the skin of the kawagoyaki, this restaurant is satisfied with just the skin. The other dishes are more like B-grade and can be found anywhere. This kawagoyaki seems to require a lot of effort. It is marinated in a special sauce, rolled up and aged for several days. It's not just rolling up the skin, there seems to be more to it. The taste is quite delicious and worth the effort. I could eat the skin endlessly, but I also tried other dishes. First, the sesame mackerel. It was completely different from the delicious one I had at a restaurant in Kyushu. I feel there is a difference in the quality of the mackerel itself. The torotaku had plenty of negitoro and chopped ankimo rolled in Korean seaweed. It's not a bad combination, but it feels like the flavors are forced. And then the fried cartilage. This can be found at any restaurant and has a snack-like feel. Surprisingly, the grilled ramen for the finish was quite delicious. It had a champon-style seasoning, and the soup had a strong flavor, making it the perfect finish. Still, the kawagoyaki stands out as the most delicious dish at this restaurant.

In Oimachi, there is a yakitori restaurant known for their specialty skewers with chicken skin twisted around them. Once you start eating them, you can't stop. Even though I was talking about work, before I knew it, I had already eaten 10 skewers (laughs). I wish they offered a choice of salt in addition to the sauce, but oh well, it's delicious as it is. The skewer with wasabi soy sauce on the chicken breast is also incredibly tender and tasty. I'm looking forward to trying more dishes next time during a private visit. Thank you for the meal!

When I lived in Hakata for 3 years, I used to go to Kawaya often. It was always full. You can't get in without a reservation. I found out that there was one in Oimachi and visited. The skin was crispy and delicious! The famous shigiyaki was so-so. I also tried the grilled ramen after a long time, but it didn't impress me. I was quite disappointed that the appetizer costs 440 yen per person. Although you can have unlimited refills of cabbage, it's not worth it. I was really looking forward to it, but it was a letdown.

In mid-December, I went out for some yakitori with my family. The restaurant is located just a 2-minute walk from Oimachi Station, on the 2nd floor of a dining building. This place is a nationwide chain of a popular yakitori restaurant from Fukuoka. I had tried their food at the Fukuoka main branch and it was delicious, so I decided to visit their first store in Tokyo. As we looked through the menu while enjoying our beer, we noticed that there were many other izakaya-style dishes in addition to yakitori, unlike the main branch in Hakata. We started with ordering 10 pieces of grilled chicken skin. Then we ordered various dishes unique to this chain restaurant. The grilled chicken skin arrived first, and it was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, with a flavorful sauce. It seemed like they might have used an electric grill as we didn't smell much charcoal flavor. The grilled chicken skin went well with the cabbage appetizer and the crispy bell peppers. The standout dish was the large omelette-style egg with leeks. It was fluffy, flavorful, and only cost 299 yen. We also enjoyed some cod roe while drinking, and finished off with salted rice balls. Overall, the restaurant was clean, bright, and the service was decent. It seemed more like a casual dining spot for families rather than a high-end yakitori specialty restaurant. The grilled chicken skin dish may have been overshadowed by other menu items, but it was still delicious. I had a good dining experience here.

I ordered the specialty grilled dishes like grilled cow skin, grilled duck, pork belly, cartilage, minced meat skewers, eel skewers, and sesame mackerel along with edamame! The drinks are cheap until 8 pm during happy hour! The minced meat skewers were delicious! They are usually called minced meat on the menu! They have a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior, a classic deliciousness, perfectly cooked! It was such a great restaurant!

For the past two months, I have hardly eaten out due to a certain infectious disease. So when my junior suggested going out to eat, I decided to go to Oimachi. We chose a place that seemed quick and easy to get into, which is usually fully booked but surprisingly had availability due to the current situation. The seating arrangement was well spaced out and we were instructed to sit diagonally opposite even within the same group, so the precautions seemed thorough. We ordered the famous grilled chicken skewers, recommended as a set of 10. Some people have eaten over 100 skewers here...haha. When we tried them, the crispy skin and the rich flavor that comes out as you chew were delicious! While we didn't eat 100 skewers, we felt like we could eat as many as we wanted. Haha. We also ordered a few other snacks and ramen for dessert. Everything was delicious and highly recommended for dining in Oimachi. I was so excited for my first dining out in a while that I only took a picture of the grilled chicken skewers...haha.

There are not many places in the Kanto region that offer pork belly skewers, but this restaurant in Hakata does. The fried chicken is seasoned with yuzu pepper and is delicious. I recommend the pork belly skewers. However, the service was not very good.

Directions and business hours of "Hakata Kawaya" Oimachi store 5. Impressions and Tabelog rating of "Hakata Kawaya" Oimachi store 1. What is "Hakata Kawaya"? "Hakata Kawaya" is a popular restaurant known for its Hakata specialty "kawakoyaki". The Oimachi store of "Hakata Kawaya" opened in December 2015, marking its first store in Tokyo. According to an article from Shinagawa Keizai Shimbun, the store moved from Nishi-Azabu to Oimachi in December. The store specializes in kawakoyaki, a skewer of chicken neck wrapped in a special sauce and grilled to achieve a crispy texture and chewy consistency. They offer a limited quantity of 300 skewers per day for dinner. 2. Exterior, menu, and atmosphere of "Hakata Kawaya" Oimachi store The store is located on the second floor near Oimachi station. Despite the challenging location, the store has been attracting customers since its opening. The menu includes kawakoyaki as a signature dish, along with other skewers and dishes that are a step above typical izakaya fare. The atmosphere is lively, with the sight of skewers being grilled in front of customers. 3. What we had at "Hakata Kawaya" Oimachi store Cabbage appetizer was served as a starter, which could be refilled with sauce upon request. The kawakoyaki skewer was small but had a unique chewy texture. We only ordered skewers for our meal, enjoying the different flavors and textures of each skewer. The staff, although energetic, seemed tired and unresponsive at times. Overall, "Hakata Kawaya" Oimachi store offers a unique dining experience with its specialty kawakoyaki and other skewers. The store has been expanding in Tokyo, with other locations in Ikebukuro, Ueno, Kamata, Kanda, and Tokiwadai. The store has received attention from celebrities like Watabe Ken.

A few minutes' walk from Oimachi Station. A popular "kawa-yaki" specialty shop in Hakata. This is their first branch in Tokyo, so I decided to visit for the first time. Reservations are for a 2-hour time limit. The interior has a lively izakaya atmosphere. The waitress was a part-time staff member. Although the reservation was for a table, I was seated at the counter. Smoking was allowed, but luckily no one nearby was smoking. - Otoshi (appetizer) + seating fee 400 yen (+tax) Cabbage torn into large pieces in a small dish. - Plum wine 260 yen It was Happy Hour. - Skin grill (10 pieces) 1700 yen This is their specialty. The chicken skin used for the kawa-yaki is taken from around the neck. They carefully remove any excess fat or blood that could cause a bad smell. Indeed, there is no smell or excess fat at all. Since you don't usually eat just the skin, it felt a bit strange. - Chicken thigh skewer 180 yen - Liver skewer 580 yen - Beef tongue skewer 260 yen - Chicken breast tataki (vinegared) 400 yen - Onion 150 yen - Shishito pepper 150 yen The liver skewer had a fresh taste and left an impression. The small chicken soup that came last was delicious. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same as what they serve in Hakata, but it was great to be able to try their specialty without going there. Thank you for the meal.

Actually, this was my first time trying aged chicken skin yakitori. I had been wanting to try it for a while, but whenever I tried to go, the restaurant was either closed or had moved. This Daikokucho store used to be in the Yataimura in Nishi-Azabu. When I tried to go there, it had moved and disappeared. Finally, I made it to Daikokucho this time. Daikokucho is now just 3 minutes away from Oimachi on the Rinkai Line, next to Oimachi. It's very convenient, unlike transferring at Shinagawa. Now, onto the main topic of aged chicken skin. It is prepared by grilling the skin, marinating it, grilling it again, and letting it sit for 6 days. When I took a bite, it was delicious, with the taste of the marinade. They only use the neck skin, which has a good flavor. The texture is a bit firm, and each skewer consists of two layers of skin rolled together. It's tasty, but I'm not sure if I would want to eat it again right away. The yakitori made from Datemaru chicken back skin at Sasaya is much tastier even though it's a B-grade gourmet item. Each skewer costs 170 yen, including tax, which is quite expensive. This is the high rent price of Tokyo. Skin is actually the cheapest ingredient, and even if sold for 50 yen, it would still be profitable. But I guess it's the cost of running a franchise. It's a shame that there wasn't a single person from Fukuoka at the restaurant. The lemon sour at Sharikin had two slices of lemon, which was nice. If the restaurant were closer to my house, I would go back, especially for the snazuri and chicken skin dumplings, which were particularly delicious. The pork belly was okay, but not great.

Former colleague (IT background) and I had a long-awaited drinking session in Tokyo. I heard that Oimachi is a good area. It's a neighborhood that I'm really interested in, but because it's so deep, it's hard to fully appreciate it on the first visit. That's why I haven't been there much. So, when we were deciding where to go, he suggested this place. On the day of our meeting, it turned out to be a relatively new and clean establishment, not as deep as I expected. The entrance on the 2nd floor was a bit hard to find. Once we found the plain staircase, we climbed up and found the place. It was nice and clean. Surprisingly, even though it was a Monday, the place was quite busy. Exciting! We were seated at a table for two and started ordering. My former youthful colleague was worried about purines, so we decided to go for shochu. The main dish was chicken skin, as the name of the restaurant suggests! Recently, this painstakingly grilled chicken skin has been gaining popularity as a specialty from Hakata. From what I've heard, they marinate it for several days, repeatedly grilling and resting it to remove excess fat and concentrate the flavor. According to what I've seen on TV, it's common to order at least 10 skewers and eat them all in one go! But ordering 10 skewers would cost around 2,000 yen. It seems like my wallet would feel lighter after that! The pieces were smaller due to the fat-trimming process, but they were indeed packed with flavor and delicious. I also tried the chicken skin with ponzu sauce, chicken karaage, and other chicken dishes. They were all delicious! Besides the famous chicken skin, it was just a normal izakaya. The food was tasty, the atmosphere was lively, and it was a good place overall. It seems like a great place to stop by with a few colleagues after work. However, we decided to try other places moderately, so we left the restaurant after about 30 minutes. Thank you for the meal! Huh? I thought we were going to have a leisurely chat at one place, but the flow of the evening was...

I visited the first Tokyo branch of the famous Hakata specialty restaurants "Kawayaki" and "Shigiyaki". The restaurant is called "Kawaya Oimachi" and despite some concerns about difficult customer service based on reviews, the reservation phone call was handled well and we were not worried. The restaurant was almost full but our reserved table was ready for us. It was a relief that we called ahead to make a reservation. I had done some research based on reviews on Tabelog before visiting, but unfortunately, some of the dishes mentioned were no longer available. There is a seating charge of 400 yen per person. We received a cabbage appetizer before ordering, the price of which I am not sure of as it was included in the receipt. I tried the following dishes: - Kawayaki (170 yen): The reviews were mixed, but I found the crispy and sweet kawayaki delicious, especially with plenty of chili peppers. The 6-day preparation process definitely adds to its charm. I would be happy if the price was more reasonable. - Shigiyaki (180 yen): I loved the tender texture of the shigiyaki, which I enjoyed with wasabi soy sauce. I ordered an additional serving. - Chicken skin dumplings (590 yen): The crispy skin was good, but I found the filling to be lacking in flavor. - Rolled omelet (580 yen): Fluffy and delicious. - Cod roe potato salad (580 yen): A generous serving with cod roe sauce. - Spicy cucumber (460 yen): The sesame oil dressing was a nice touch. I even tried it with the cabbage appetizer. - Grilled ramen (720 yen): The noodles were too soft for my liking. - Lemon sour (450 yen), Ginger ale (350 yen), Cola (350 yen). The total bill for 3 people was just under 10,000 yen. The service was prompt and we had a pleasant dining experience. As a fan of "kawayaki", I was satisfied with my visit and would love to come back again.

Yesterday, four of us from the company ordered 20 pieces of the famous Hakata dish, kawagoyaki. The taste of the kawagoyaki in the first round was different from the second round. Why? Why? The first round was so-so, but the second round was normal. It seems like a taste that would be liked by those who drink alcohol. I thought I preferred Daikichi's version. It was a day where I realized that.

Today, from the morning it was clear skies. The temperature also rose, and by early afternoon it had exceeded 20 degrees. It's April, Thursday, and in two weeks an unprecedented 10-day holiday is coming. I wonder what will happen. Meanwhile, today's "Pitopito Seijin" "Ichigou" is visiting an exhibition being held at Tokyo Big Sight. On the way back, it seems like they will have a light drink with a close supplier. Let's head to "Hakata Kawaya" then. This time, we have a reservation from 5 pm. "Now, past, future~ If I meet that person~♪♪, I'll be waiting forever~ Tell someone~♪♪" singing Watanabe Machiko's "Meido". A close colleague who is currently in Sendai has completely lost motivation since expressing his resignation. Well, let's just do it casually. ★Interior★ Just a 1-2 minute walk from JR Oimachi Station East Exit to the restaurant. After leaving the East Exit, go diagonally across the pedestrian crossing to the small path. The building on the second floor below is a pub, so you should be able to find it right away without getting lost. As soon as the store opens at 5 pm, salarymen started coming in one after another. It seemed to be quite a popular place. The interior has counter seats and table seats. There are no female waitresses, all the staff are male. In front of the counter kitchen, the staff is handling charcoal, giving off a yakitori shop vibe. ★Smoking Situation★ Smoking is allowed in all seats. ★Today's Alcohol★ 'Lemon Sour' 450 yen x 3 'Kuro Kirishima with hot water' 520 yen x 2 'Draft Beer (Malt)' 560 yen ★Today's Order★ 'Kawa Yaki' 170 yen x 2, 'Shigi Yaki' 180 yen x 2 'Beef Tongue Yaki' 260 yen x 2, 'Onion' 150 yen x 2 'Otoshi' 400 yen x 2, 'Shime Soup' Free ★Today's Notes★ It was a pretty good yakitori restaurant. 'Kawa Yaki' and 'Shigi Yaki' are the specialties and we ordered them right away. Both were good, but the 'Shigi Yaki' with wasabi sauce was more to my liking!? The grilling, which is the lifeblood of a yakitori restaurant, seems to be done perfectly. The prices of the drinks are a bit noticeable, but within an acceptable range. A small amount, but a white cloudy soup with a good aftertaste is served as a finish. Good service. Thank you for the meal, I will visit again! "One turn, one mistake~ A winding path of confusion~♪♪" When I looked up at the sky of Oimachi, I felt like K was smiling in the distance "Ichigou" said... Pitopito, Pitopito.

Recently, Fukuoka's famous chicken skin skewers have been making their way to Tokyo one after another. When my husband was in Fukuoka, we would go out to eat these skewers. Fukuoka is not only known for nationally famous dishes, but also has many local specialties. It's great to see these unique dishes now available in Tokyo. The crispy chicken skin looks and tastes delicious. In addition to this, you can easily find other Fukuoka specialties like grilled ramen in various restaurants. It's fun to experience a different side of Kyushu cuisine compared to the typical Kyushu restaurants you often come across.

There is a restaurant located about a 2-minute walk from Oimachi Station. The restaurant is on the second floor of a building. The interior is spacious and very clean. It doesn't have the typical smoky atmosphere of a traditional yakitori restaurant, but rather a clean and cozy izakaya vibe. There are about 10 seats at the counter and around 30 table seats. They offer a variety of drinks, including shochu and sour cocktails. The menu features their specialty crispy chicken skin skewers, as well as grilled chicken breast skewers with wasabi soy sauce. The crispy chicken skin skewers have a crunchy texture and a slightly savory taste that pairs well with beer. It's dangerously delicious and goes perfectly with drinks. The chicken breast skewers are refreshing with the wasabi soy sauce. It might be nice to alternate between the crispy chicken skin skewers and the chicken breast skewers.

There is a shop in Hakata that opened its first branch in Tokyo, called Oimachi store. It is recommended to make a reservation before going as it is expected to be crowded. I recommend trying the chicken skin and grilled skewers! Even though I don't usually like eating liver, I was able to enjoy the liver skewers as well.
