Located in the Higashiyama Ward, the road leading to Amidagamine is known as Onnazaka. The view you see when descending this slope is of Kyoto City through the National Museum. Personally, it's a favorite view of mine. Just before reaching Higashioji-dori on this slope, on the south side, there is a shop in a good location. Today, I felt like having pizza for lunch, so I tried calling to make a reservation... Although I couldn't get through during the busy hours, as soon as I hung up, they called me back immediately, and my momentarily dropped heart was instantly filled with joy! The crust of their pizza is slightly thin. Cooked rapidly at high temperatures in a stone oven, the speed of service is quick and delightful. The cheese used for the pizza is from Italy. The two types of mozzarella cheese made from water buffalo and cow milk have a high melting point. Here, they served the second slice after finishing the first one, so you can enjoy it hot. Their Margherita with fresh tomatoes is juicy with a wonderful acidity, becoming unforgettable. The Quattro Formaggi allows you to savor the aroma of four cheeses, and when drizzled with honey from the second slice, it becomes even more delicious. Today's spaghetti was Amatriciana. The unique elasticity (chewiness) differed from what I've had before, and it was highly aromatic, making it more appealing to me personally than the pizza. The ingredients include bacon from Hokkaido and onions from Awaji. It was a great restaurant where you could deeply feel their dedication to ingredients and the high quality of their ingredients.

For the final lunch of my Kyoto trip, I looked up on Tabelog and visited ILPAPPALARDO. The staff here were quite elderly. I was surprised that the restaurant didn't feel old. Since the kids wanted pizza, we made a same-day reservation and took a taxi there. The taxi driver also knew about this place, seems like it's a famous spot in Kyoto. We ordered the usual favorites for the kids - prosciutto, Margherita pizza, pasta with Kujo green onions and whitebait, etc. First, cheers with Peroni! It was a stylish day, haha. The kids, who usually only eat Margherita pizza, seem to be Margherita enthusiasts, haha. This restaurant, which has been selected as a top restaurant multiple times, serves authentic Neapolitan pizza baked in a wood-fired oven and it's undeniably delicious. The chef, Mr. Kitamura, trained at Seirinkan in Nakameguro. Come to think of it, I visited Seirinkan in 2008. If you have time, please check out my post! *Photos included, haha* But back to the topic, the pizza here was delicious, and the pasta was also quite tasty. The photos might have a strong angle, haha. What I remember most about this place is the "service." When my child with asthma started coughing after arriving in Kyoto, they asked, "Are you okay?" The service was full of kindness towards the children, it was a lovely restaurant! When I visit Kyoto again, I would like to come back for a leisurely dinner.

I visited "IL PAPPALARDO" in Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture around 1:00 PM on Saturday. The restaurant is about a 10-15 minute walk east from Keihan Shichijo Station. During the summer, it might be better to take a city bus to Higashiyama Shichijo and walk from there due to the heat. The interior of the restaurant is stylish and clean, fitting for being selected as one of the top 100 pizza restaurants on Tabelog three times. There are 32 seats in total, with 28 tables and 4 counter seats, providing a comfortable and spacious dining environment. We ordered "Spaghetti Salmon" (2310 yen), "Spaghetti Vongole" (2420 yen), "Margherita" (1870 yen), and "Peroni Premium Draft Beer (300ml)" (880 yen) for two people. The "Spaghetti Salmon" had a creamy sauce with Aomori-produced cherry salmon and cabbage, offering a satisfying volume of ingredients with a slightly rich flavor that paired well with the pasta. The "Spaghetti Vongole" had plenty of large, fresh clams from Aichi, making for an impressive presentation. After enjoying the clams, we had the pasta with a soup made from fresh cherry tomatoes and clam broth, which was delicious. The "Margherita" was a classic Neapolitan pizza baked in a wood-fired oven with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and basil. The dough was chewy, and the tomato sauce was rich. The homemade spicy olive oil was particularly tasty. The staff's service was exceptional, promptly offering us a window seat when one became available before our meal was served, moving us over. They also took care of our belongings and paid attention to various details, which was greatly appreciated. The customer service was top-notch! I highly recommend this restaurant! I enjoyed Gazpacho (chilled tomato soup), Salsiccia (wild boar sausage with caponata), Carpaccio (bonito), Buffalo Pizza (with buffalo cheese), and Tagliolini Tartufo (spaghetti with summer truffle). It's been a while since I've found every dish to be delicious. The Peroni beer I had while feeling the summer was also delicious, making it a wonderful time. I will definitely come back.

Before visiting Sanjusangendo, I explored the surrounding temples and stumbled upon a charming Italian restaurant. I visited during lunchtime to match the opening hours. Seeing smoke coming out from the chimney of the restaurant, I had a feeling that the pizza would be delicious, so I ordered one. The pizza did not disappoint, with a wonderful wood-fired aroma and perfectly baked crust. Next time, I plan to try their course menu for dinner.

The course is Italian, and considering it's not in the city center, it may be a bit pricey. The omakase dinner is 6600 yen. There are no photos of the main dish, but the meat was delicious. The pasta and appetizers were just okay, but the pizza was really good, probably because they have a kiln. I prefer simple flavors lately, so it wasn't exactly to my taste, but it was a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere.

I was inspired to visit this restaurant after reading a manga called "Beloved Kyoto Dish by Crows." It was featured in the 4th volume of the manga and is also listed in the "Tabelog" as one of the top 100 pizza restaurants. Despite being known for pizza, it's actually an Italian cuisine restaurant. It's a popular spot, and reservations are usually required. I usually act on impulse and struggle with making reservations in advance, so I've been turned away from many restaurants in the past. This time, I decided to take my chances and arrived at 7:05 PM. The restaurant was bustling, but there were some empty seats. When I entered, the usual question was asked, "Do you have a reservation?" Surprisingly, this time they said, "Are you dining alone? Please wait a moment. Let me check if we have a table available." They offered a table for me until 8 PM, which I accepted. I decided to skip the appetizers and main dishes and opted for pizza, risotto, and dessert. The wood-fired pizzas were excellent, and I chose two types to share. I also ordered a Campari soda as an aperitif. The Quattro Formaggi and Margherita half-and-half pizza was delicious. The Margherita was a classic with a flavorful tomato sauce and basil. The risotto Nero with squid ink was simple but incredibly tasty. It was served with homemade focaccia to clean the plate. I was served mineral water a bit late, but it was fine as I needed a drink. For dessert, I had Catalana with fresh orange and caramel sauce, which was a stylish and delicious treat. Although I could have enjoyed a more elaborate meal with appetizers and drinks, I was satisfied with the pizza, risotto, and dessert.

Located east between Higashiyama Shichijo, Myoho-in, and Chisen-in, on the south side, is Onnazaka (also listed on Google). Since '96, this popular pizzeria also serves delicious pasta. I visited for lunch after a long time. They offer Pranzo A B C, with A including soup and pasta or pizza, B with appetizers and dessert, and C including the main course, priced at ¥2200, ¥3300, and ¥4400 respectively. Shared with a companion... The appetizers were refined and delicious. For pasta, we ordered the squid ink tagliolini with uni tomato cream sauce and the chicken and mushroom dish. The pizza had toppings of pancetta on the Marinara and a half & half Quattro. Each dish had a distinct flavor profile, with good umami and saltiness. The oregano spice in the Marinara was well-balanced, and the cheese blend in the Quattro was the best. If I had to nitpick, the tomato's acidity in the uni sauce was a bit strong, masking the uni's flavor. Perhaps they intended to balance the richness with acidity... but considering the uni costs an additional ¥1300... it's a great place worth revisiting.

Located along Onna-zaka, which leads from Higashiyama Shichijo and Higashiyama Street to Kyoto Women's University, is the Italian restaurant "Il Pappalardo (ILPAPPALARDO)." This restaurant takes pride in its Neapolitan pizza baked in a wood-fired oven and has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. The restaurant is spacious with large windows allowing plenty of natural light. There are counter seats facing the kitchen and regular table seats, with the preferred spot being a table along the windows. The lunch set offers three options, and I opted for the convenient A set priced at 2,200 yen. Despite expecting the salad and pizza set to arrive promptly, the food service was surprisingly slow. The Neapolitan pizza, which I assumed would be ready in about a minute after ordering, left all guests waiting idle at their tables. After a 20-minute wait, the salad set finally arrived. The salad was fresh with a generous portion of leafy greens, providing a satisfying taste. The pizza felt slightly small in size, with a strong saltiness and tomato acidity, offering a distinct flavor profile. The mozzarella cheese is air-freighted from Naples three times a week, delivering the classic deliciousness. However, as I ordered the Margherita without buffalo mozzarella, I cannot provide an accurate comparison. After enjoying the meal for 2,200 yen, I found it reasonably tasty, but the slow service and slightly high prices were drawbacks. Additionally, there was a notice during lunchtime that cards could not be used for payments under 5,000 yen, which raised concerns about compliance with regulations. I found the nearby "Trattoria Sette (trattoriasette)" to be more sincere in various aspects.

Located between Kiyomizu-dera and Sanjusangendo, this Italian restaurant is a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Station. It has been selected as one of the top 100 pizza restaurants. The setting is slightly formal with white tablecloths, resembling a casual French atmosphere. It's a rare find for a pizzeria. I pre-booked a 6600 yen course from the restaurant's website. Appetizers included Kabocha Squash Sformato, Kanpachi Carpaccio, and Tanba Black Chicken Galantine. The main dish was Angel Prawn and Vegetable Fritto. For dessert, there was Black Currant Sorbet, Cattalana, and Tiramisu. The total bill was 10,010 yen. While the restaurant is known for its pizza, I believe it leans more towards being an Italian restaurant than just a pizzeria.

The carpaccio at Yokowa had a generous portion and came out quickly, a good choice to order it. I chose a popular red wine featured in "Drops of God." It was easy to drink and delicious! However, we waited a long time for the pizza. We ordered the Quattro Formaggi and Capricciosa. The Quattro Formaggi was rich in blue cheese! It was exciting, but surprisingly the Capricciosa might have been tastier. The pasta was Tomato Cream with Sea Urchin. The sea urchin wasn't very rich, but there was a lot of it, which was pleasing. I was unsure about the combination, but it was delicious.

We ordered various dishes a la carte. A friend ordered a cold soup. The focaccia bread was fluffy and chewy with a nice salty taste, warm and delicious! The carpaccio of aged salmon today was very delicious, with fatty salmon belly that was very tasty! The sea urchin tomato cream sauce squid ink tagliolini was shared with me, which was considerate and appreciated! The sea urchin was plump and delicious, blending well with the rich soup. We also had two pizzas, Capricciosa, with a good acidity! And the Quattro Formaggi pizza was like a dessert♡ The combination of the cheese's saltiness and the sweetness of honey was consistently delicious. The pizzas were a bit smaller and easy to eat. I would like to come back again.

This is Il Pappagallo in Kyoto, near Kyo-Haku, Myoho-in, and Chisoku-in. It's a fantastic location surrounded by temples. I made a reservation for one person in advance. Reservations are essential for Saturdays at noon. The Caprese with buffalo mozzarella was a level up. I had a half-and-half pizza with Margherita and anchovies. The buffalo mozzarella was delightful. You can taste the milkiness. The pizza was delicious. The tomato sauce base is so tasty that everything you eat tastes amazing. I comfortably finished the meal alone. For dessert, I had honey gelato. It was heavenly. The friendly service made me feel great, and enjoying wine at lunch was lovely. This is a top-notch restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a restaurant in Higashiyama Shichijo♪ I lined up to try the wood-fired pizza (´˘`*) The pizza was chewy and soft with a satisfying texture (❁´ω`❁) The pasta had a unique shape that I had never tried before, but it paired well with the sauce and was very delicious♡ It's a bit pricey, but I would love to visit again if I have the chance (*´︶`*)❤︎

During a family trip to Sanjusangendo, we visited this restaurant for lunch. Despite making a reservation in advance, there were already several customers lining up before opening time. The restaurant quickly filled up as soon as we entered. It seems to be a popular spot. Since I'm not familiar with pizzas or pasta, I left the food ordering to my son and wife and chose a beer for myself. I decided to go for the slightly pricey but delicious 300ml Veroni Premium draft beer. Looking at the menu, the prices seemed quite high. For our meal, we ordered a platter of five appetizers, spaghetti with domestic broccoli and homemade karasumi, and a Margherita pizza with mozzarella cheese and basil. The appetizers were served in a shared plate for two, and we split them among the three of us. The platter included thick and fluffy focaccia, which was a delight. The marinated salmon and squid peperoncino from the platter were particularly outstanding. The salmon, said to be a local brand from Iwate Prefecture, had excellent freshness and a robust flavor similar to the delicious taste of locally sourced Biwamasu or Sakuramasu. The squid was also incredibly fresh, with an exceptionally large size and a firm texture that burst with the deliciousness of its miso flavor. The orange-colored pate on the focaccia, whether made of carrots or onions (I forgot), paired well and was also delicious. The spaghetti with domestic broccoli and homemade karasumi had a rich and deep flavor profile. The pasta, likely fresh, was chewy and delicious, showcasing the quality of the homemade karasumi. The Margherita pizza with mozzarella cheese and basil was slightly salty for my taste, but the cheese had a rich flavor. Noteworthy was the dough - soft and chewy in the center, and crispy on the edges. It left an impression of using high-quality ingredients and craftsmanship. The total bill for the three of us was just over 9,000 yen. Overall, the prices were on the higher side, but I believe the value provided was well worth it.

Located about a 12-minute walk from Nijo Station, the restaurant received a rating of 3.69 in 2021 and has won the Pizza Hyakumeiten award three times! For starters, they offer a platter of three appetizers (1500 yen including tax), a Margherita and Bismarck half & half pizza, and a roast of Honshuika deer inner thigh meat (4180 yen). They also serve homemade gelato made with 100% honey from Kamigamo and Kyoto Hyakka flowers (660 yen), featuring foie gras terrine with apple jam, salmon carpaccio, and sweet potato paste. You can choose two types of pizza for the half & half option, such as Margherita with mozzarella cheese and basil, and a pizza with 24-month aged Parma ham and soft-boiled egg. The freshly baked pizzas have a chewy texture and are delicious. The Margherita is rich and flavorful, perfect for cheese lovers, while the Parma ham, aged for 24 months, has a salty taste that pairs well with the mild flavor of the soft-boiled egg. The main dish is a roast of Honshuika deer inner thigh meat from Kyoto Tanba, hunted by "Kakiuchi-san" using traps. The tender meat cuts smoothly with a knife and combines the unique flavor of deer meat with the sauce for a delightful taste. For dessert, they offer homemade gelato made with 100% honey from Kamigamo called "Kyoto Hyakka," which has a rich honey flavor that is addictive. Though slightly pricey, the stylish atmosphere of the restaurant makes it perfect for special occasions. Thank you for the meal. Definitely worth a visit!

Located a 10-12 minute walk from Nanajo Station is Pizzeria IL PAPPALARDO. Situated across from the Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto, this popular pizzeria requires reservations. It has been selected as one of the top 100 pizza restaurants in 2017, 2019, and 2021. The seats are usually fully booked, and the atmosphere is lively and bustling, making it a great place to dine with friends. We ordered popular menu items such as Australian beef cheek and Awaji onion stewed Neapolitan-style fettuccine, Provolone Affumicata, and a half & half with Romana. The pizzas, thinly made and of a moderate size, are enjoyable with the half & half option allowing for a variety of flavors. The crispy crust combined with gooey mozzarella cheese and anchovy flavor was delicious! The pasta sauce, made by cutting the beef cheek into chunks and simmering it with onions, coated the fettuccine nicely, creating a satisfying pasta dish. If you're looking to indulge in hearty Italian cuisine in Kyoto, be sure to visit this place. Thank you for the meal!

Visited during the autumn leaves season in 2021. Amidst accumulating fatigue from daily work, I encountered a restaurant that truly impressed me with its delicious food, and it helped alleviate some of my tiredness. The rice was incredibly delicious, and I was surprised by the fact that the temperature of the plates matched the temperature of the dishes! It was evident that they put as much thought into the rice as you would find in a hotel. We started with a fresh fish carpaccio. The thick, tender slices with a sweet flavor topped with a salty dressing were so delicious that just thinking about it now makes my mouth water. It became an unforgettable dish. Next was a Margherita pizza topped with buffalo cheese. The cheese was chewy and delicious, but what amazed me was that even the crust of the pizza had a strong salty flavor. It was impressive. Then, we had roasted venison leg meat from Kyoto. I attached a photo. It was my first time trying venison, and it had a slightly sweet taste with a unique nuance different from beef, incredibly tender, and it was a moment of encountering meat that I had never tasted before. Lastly, we had Italian red meat melon sorbet. I attached a photo. It had a distinct melon flavor and a gentle texture that made it easy to eat multiple servings. Wow, I found a fantastic restaurant. Truly satisfied! I want to go again!
