When I recently visited a standing soba shop that used to be a big fan of fried chicken soba, I was disappointed to see that the jumbo fried chicken soba was no longer available on the menu. However, there is still something similar that you can try, although it may not be as good as the original. The fried chicken soba: the noodles are now smooth and chewy, without the crunchy texture they used to have. As a B-class food, the previous version may have been a better match, but the current one is definitely more delicious. Add some chili oil! It's so tasty! Bite into the fried chicken halfway through! I think they would cut it for you if you asked, but it would make it easier to eat. If I say things like that, I might be seen as old-fashioned... but cutting it helps the chicken fat and soba soup broth to blend together! Oh, and you get two delicious flavors in one bite. This fried chicken soba is ¥490. With most of the competition gone, our shop's significance with this menu is now more important than ever!

The restaurant is open from 8 am on Sundays as well. I purchased a ticket for the meat soba or udon (580 yen) from the ticket machine and handed it to the kitchen. The staff asked me if I wanted soba or udon. The meat soba was ready in no time. The pork and white leek combination was not too heavy and had a subtle sweetness. The dark broth was not as strong or spicy as it looked, and I almost finished it all. It was very delicious. This standing soba shop offers high-quality food.

At Nojirou in Ekoda, I had the chikuwa tempura udon. I wanted to eat something light on my way back from work, so I made a detour. Although they were also recommending the fried chicken soba, it was sold out. So, I tried the chikuwa tempura that I hadn't eaten before, and I decided to have it with udon instead of soba. The chikuwa tempura was a whole piece, and it was less than 500 yen. When I see prices like this, it makes me feel like chain standing soba places are expensive. The udon was also good. Next time, I'll definitely try the fried chicken soba.

At Nogiro in Ekoda, I ordered the meat soba at the counter without using the special menu button this time. I scanned the PayPay barcode to pay. The portion was already generous, with plenty of meat and green onions. It was quite delicious on its own, but when I added the special chili oil on the table, it tasted even better. This is great. The portion is big, the price is cheap, and it's tasty, making a certain chain restaurant seem very expensive lately.

At Nojirou in Ekoda, I ordered the kakiage soba with a topping of long eggplant tempura. It's a standing soba shop near Nihon University. Just like the popular meat soba at Minami-Ten in Shiina Town, this place is also known for its meat soba. However, I wasn't in the mood for that, so I chose the kakiage soba. While waiting after purchasing my meal ticket, the long eggplant tempura looked so delicious that I decided to add it to my order. When I tried it, I felt like the portion of soba was not that big. Is this a regular serving size? Both the soba and the broth were quite tasty. The kakiage was mainly made of onions, soaked in the broth, creating a nice balance of sweetness and the broth's spiciness. The large long eggplant tempura was delicious. If I were to choose between this place and a mediocre chain standing soba shop, I would definitely come back here as it's cheaper and tastier.

On my third visit at 12:40 PM, I had the wakame soba for 420 yen with fried chicken topping for 150 yen and chikuwa tempura topping for 120 yen. I also added extra green onions for 60 yen and had a rice ball with pickled mustard greens for 120 yen. The deep black broth goes well with the fried chicken, and the chikuwa tempura is quite filling. The rice ball with pickled mustard greens had a nice balance of softness and crunch. I wonder why there was no free tempura bits today. Thank you for the meal.

The other day I saw this place on TV, so I decided to stop by on my way back from my errands in Egota today. I had the meat soba. It had a rich broth, hearty soba noodles, lightly boiled meat, and plenty of green onions. The balance was great, and I ended up finishing it all without even remembering to add some chili oil at the end... It was really delicious.

On days when the heat is intense and appetite is lacking, there's nothing better for lunch than cold udon with a side of tempura and a raw egg. Wasabi pairs well with this dish, and a cold beer is the perfect drink to accompany it. Today, I feel energetic and the beer tastes delicious! #Ekoda is full of delicious food today too.

In the lively neighborhood of Ekoda, known for its B-class gourmet scene, I decided to have an early dinner. The scorching heat outside made me crave something cold. I opted for the chilled soba noodles priced at 580 yen, with an additional 50 yen for a cold dipping sauce and 80 yen for a raw egg. I prefer soba noodles soaked in cold broth rather than the regular zaru soba. Despite feeling hesitant about the extra charge for the cold dipping sauce, the dish turned out to be delicious. The sweet and savory simmered pork was generously portioned for the price, and there was plenty of white scallions on top. The broth was slightly on the stronger side, but it balanced out well with the raw egg. I added some chili oil halfway through for a flavor boost. It seems that they sell out by evening, but I look forward to trying their tempura for lunch next time.

Just outside the north exit of Ekoda Station, there is a standing soba noodle shop. The soba noodles here are incredibly delicious!! The flavor of the soba is top-notch. When you add the "ra-yu" chili oil from the table, it becomes even more delicious!!! It's addictive soba noodles. Highly recommended. You can pay with PayPay, which is convenient!!

After sushi, I walked around Chikawa Street for a bit before heading home from Sakuradai station. Chikawa Street is usually beautiful with double cherry blossoms during cherry blossom season, but now it's all green with leaves. It was hot today, but the shade from the trees made for a cool and comfortable walk. Along the way, we passed by a ramen shop, a cake shop, and peeked into a second-hand store. When we arrived in Egota, my husband mentioned feeling a bit peckish, so we decided to finally try "Nojirou," a place we've been wanting to visit. We ordered the meat soba and the kake soba. The kake soba had a lot of seaweed on top, and I couldn't help but compare it to the wakame soba on the menu... they seemed quite similar. The meat soba was packed with meat, and the thinly sliced white leeks added a nice touch. The broth was slightly sweet for my taste, but I adjusted it with some shichimi. It's self-service, but the water was really cold and delicious. #Egota #Nojirou #MeatSoba #KakeSoba #NasuTempuraSoba was sold out #Cold water #Accepts PayPay.

Beef udon for 550 yen. Noodles: Soft ←☆★☆☆☆→ Firm. Broth: Sweet ←☆☆☆☆★→ Spicy. Personally: Not a fan ←☆☆★☆☆→ Preference. Plenty of white leeks and simmered pork belly, both pale in color. The broth is almost blackish-brown. I like to soak the leeks in the broth, give them a quick heat, and then eat them. The udon noodles are closer to soft, absorbing the broth well, making them easy to eat with the meat. Overall, it's a rich flavor. I didn't slurp the broth, instead, I mixed the ingredients and noodles together. Located near the north exit of Ekoda Station. Surprisingly, there is quite a bit of foot traffic. Prices have gone up by about 10% since last year's inflation, but it's still cheap.

Today, I felt like having a quick and easy meal. Suddenly, I had a craving for standing soba noodles. I had been to this place when it first opened, and this was my second visit. The first time, I wasn't impressed because the broth was weak and the noodles were overshadowed by it. This time, I ordered the tempura soba (490 yen) with a raw egg (60 yen). I handed over my meal ticket and waited. I was called up quickly to pick up my order. Time to dig in. The noodles were firm and medium-thick, just the way I like them. The broth...wow! It was rich and flavorful. The broth was strong and not overpowered by the noodles. This is it! This is it!! The tempura wasn't freshly fried but still crispy and delicious. The raw egg added a nice creaminess to the bowl. I slurped it all up in no time (laughs). Overall, it was a night and day difference from my last visit. It has become so delicious. It may not beat the place in Nippori, but I'm satisfied. Next time, I'll try the soba with spring vegetable tempura. Yes, that's what I'll do.

On December 15, 2020, a standing soba and udon restaurant called "Tachigui Soba Udon Jirou Ekoda Store" opened in Nerima-ku, Ekoda. Due to a temporary closure of the planned restaurant, I had to change my plans and ended up having breakfast at the "Tachigui Soba Udon Jirou Ekoda Store" located in front of Ekoda Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line in Tokyo. I noticed that the restaurant name is written as "standing soba udon" in Osaka, but in Tokyo it's written as "standing soba udon." A bit surprised by this trivial fact, I entered the restaurant. The recommended dishes are meat soba and meat udon, but it's a bit heavy for breakfast, so I decided to order the "Shungiku Tempura Soba" that I tried for the first time last time and found it to be incredibly delicious. I was a bit confused by the location of the button for Shungiku Tempura on the ticket machine, but managed to purchase the ticket. I handed the ticket to the staff and waited for a while. Shungiku Tempura Soba 490 yen. A close-up of the Shungiku Tempura! A large Shungiku Tempura that fills about half of the bowl. The noodles are slightly powdery, but have a good firmness. However, while they are firm, they still retain a slight powdery texture. Maybe it's made of 80% buckwheat flour and 20% wheat flour? The Shungiku Tempura is crispy, with a mild Shungiku aroma. The aroma and umami of the soba broth are also a bit mild. Furthermore, the Shungiku Tempura wasn't very hot, maybe it was pre-made... or perhaps it cooled down from early morning preparation? It may depend on personal preference, but I was left slightly unsatisfied with the taste as I had high expectations. Thank you for the meal. And so, the final day of the Tokyo gourmet tour began. Delicious Food Gourmet Diary.

This is a hidden gem. It was quite impressive. I went to Minami-Ten last week and it was fantastic, so I searched for a soba restaurant along the train line and found this one, which looked delicious. I ordered the meat soba for 550 yen and added extra green onions for 50 yen. The green onions were great. The pork was also better than at Minami-Ten. The soba noodles themselves were nice and thick, just the way I like them.

The pork belly is plentiful in the sweet soy sauce-based broth of the meat soba, topped with mountain vegetables and raw egg. The combination of meat soba with mountain vegetables and raw egg topping is truly sublime. This standing soba shop near the station may not exceed 500 yen even with such toppings, but the noodles are boiled and carefully arranged after handing in the meal ticket, showing attention to detail in every aspect. Meat soba 550 yen, raw egg 60 yen, mountain vegetables and mushrooms 130 yen (including tax).

Jokuroda Nojiro Niku Soba's famous meat soba is a delicious combination of slightly spicy broth, the sweetness of the meat, and the aroma of green onions. It's even better with free fried egg and chili oil for extra flavor. It's tastier than other famous shops! #Soba #Udon #StandingSoba #StationSoba #NewYearSoba #Jokuroda #Nojiro #MeatSoba #MeatUdon #ChiliOil #FriedEgg #Karaage #Foodie #TokyoStandingSobaClub

"Jokufuda's 'Nojirou' meat udon for 550 yen. A popular standing soba shop at the north exit of Jokufuda Station. The meat soba and karaage soba seem to be popular. The udon has plenty of meat and green onions. It doesn't have as much firmness as Sanuki udon, but it's not mushy either. It has a gentle flavor but with a strong umami taste, and it warms you up really well. The refreshing broth with plenty of meat and crunchy green onions with the udon slides down smoothly and is very delicious. Apparently, soba is more popular, so I would like to try that as well."

I had some business in Nogata and happened to see a standing soba restaurant called Nojirou, so I decided to go in. I love standing soba, it's like my fast food. I was thrilled to find out that they had a service where you could take as much tempura bits as you want. And they also had a new menu item, curry soba, which wasn't on the menu before. I couldn't resist adding extra meat to it. The curry was pretty ordinary, but I was happy that they gave a generous amount of green onions. I ended up adding chili oil, and when I finished the green onions and meat, I topped it off with seaweed-flavored tempura bits. It was satisfying. Thank you for the meal. I'll definitely come back. :)

On Tuesday, around noon, there was one customer already there, and then about three more people came later. It's a standing-eating place and not too crowded. The kake udon costs 340 yen, with an extra 100 yen for a large serving and 50 yen for extra green onions. The default toppings for the kake udon are seaweed and green onions. They said the noodles are homemade, but they lack firmness and are soft. The broth is sweet. The tempura bits on the table have a good mix of seaweed.

I felt like having some standing soba and got off at Ekoda to try out a seemingly good shop. The place indeed only offers standing eating, with no chairs inside. I purchased a meal ticket at the vending machine, and went for the recommended meat soba. The bowl was filled with a lot of meat and white leeks, making it hard to see the noodles. The portion size was impressive. There was a notice inside saying that the noodles were new and original, but I didn't really like them. They seemed to be coated with a kind of plastic, making them smooth and difficult to slurp. The meat was heavily seasoned and the broth was rich and refreshing. The combination with white leeks worked well. I preferred the meat itself over Nanten's. It goes to show that taste is subjective, regardless of whether a place has good reviews or not. You won't know until you try it yourself.
