On my way back home, I noticed a sign sticking out from a side street and was led to visit the shop. It was a cute little shop nestled in a residential area. Although I am not very familiar with German sweets, I found them to be satisfying and delicious, even though they may not be very fancy. I couldn't decide which one to choose, but I ended up getting a Marzipan Cake (450 yen) and an Engadiner Mini (180 yen) to go. The Marzipan Cake had a lot of poppy seeds in it, and with each bite, the popping sensation was so enjoyable. It was packed full of poppy seeds, and every bite was so delicious. It felt like a unique eating experience with just one cake. Plus, since it has poppy seeds, it's kind of healthy, right? (laughs) The shop will be closed for summer vacation in August and will reopen on September 6th. I will definitely go back again! Thank you for the meal! (´◡ฺ`)

Located between Shimokitazawa and Sangenjaya, facing Chazawa Street. I never really noticed this street before because I rarely walk here, but today I discovered it. There was a sign on Chazawa Street about German sweets, so I decided to buy some. Walking down a narrow alley from the street, you can see residential houses. Part of the first floor is used as a shop selling sweets. They had a variety of baked goods and fresh cakes. The compact space had several staff members, maybe around four. I was the only customer at first, but soon five more customers came in after me. The display of sweets on the terrace was limited, and the small space quickly became crowded like a packed train (laughs). I bought Linzertorte slice for 280 yen, Americana for 380 yen, Plain Cookies for 180 yen & 280 yen, and Auszogne for 300 yen. The Americana was described as a sweet with lemon icing that was like a cross between a cookie and a soft cake, and it was exactly that (laughs). I wasn't very familiar with German sweets, but they were delicious. I would like to try their fresh cakes next time.

This is a German confectionery store located in Taishido. The owner, Mr. Inino, who holds the German confectionery master qualification, sells freshly made German sweets in the backyard of his house. You can find a variety of sweets, mainly baked goods, that you won't get tired of. The store opened in September 2012, and it is about a 12-13 minute walk from Sangenjaya Station. It is located on Chazawa Street, just before Summit Store (Daisawa Intersection). The store's operating days are indicated by a small sign on the roadside, so follow the directions to find it. The sales area is on a deck facing the backyard. My last visit was in February 2013, where I purchased Baumtorte and baked goods. Upon visiting again in the afternoon, I came across a sign on the roadside indicating an event called "German Confectionery Fest" by three female masters. There were more varieties of sweets than usual, including baked and fresh confectionery. The owner, Mr. Inino, is friendly and pleasant. The items I purchased were as follows (prices include tax): Baumtorte (Fondant) - 400 yen, Lemon Cake - 400 yen, Gluckskexke (Lemon Cream Cookie) - 250 yen, Salt Pound Cake - 400 yen, Engadina Mini - 180 yen. The chosen sweets were delicious and not tiring. They are made without using additives, so you can enjoy them with peace of mind. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

When riding my bike up a hill, I happened to come across a small shop with a sign that read "German pastries". I couldn't resist stopping by. As I made my way down the alley, I found a charming entrance with a gate leading to a lush garden path. At the end of the path, there was a small shop, more like a market set up on a veranda in the garden. The pastries and bread displayed were all authentic German treats. I bought a Basque-style cheesecake called Aiärschäcke and two Easter pastry breads. They were all very sweet and substantial. It was clear that these were true German pastries. The shop was quiet and peaceful, creating a cozy atmosphere. The owner mentioned that they had studied pastry and bread-making in Germany, so it was definitely the real deal.

There is a German pastry shop in Dai-zawa. They display their products in part of a house, making it feel like you are entering a regular residence. I bought some baked goods and a Sachertorte. The Sachertorte was particularly good, with a great combination of chocolate and apricot, making it very delicious. I was once again impressed by the high level of sweets in this area.

*Waiting Time* No wait on Sunday at 15:30 *Order & Price* Baumtorte for 400 yen *Atmosphere* The atmosphere is cute, like being lost in a fairytale land. *Service* You can use Setapay. *Impressions* When you taste it, the scent of rum spreads. It feels like eating a canelé with the rum aroma while eating Baumkuchen. The icing on the surface is crispy and delicious. The dough has a traditional German taste, pleasantly dry and delicious. *Expectations* I still prefer the original Baumkuchen from Germany over Japan's adapted version.

It must have been about 7-8 years now. Ignoring recent trends, I am pursuing authentic traditional German and Austrian pastries. I got a lemon pie, Sachertorte, and cherry buttercream cake to go. They are all delicious and rich in flavor.

I happened to pass by and was very interested, so I bought a few items. The Engadine nut cake from Müttiskuchen was fluffy, crunchy, and crispy, each with a different texture that was enjoyable. Most of all, the meat pie was packed with juicy meat and had a crispy pastry, making it a delightful breakfast! I didn't pay much attention to German sweets before, but if you like nuts, I highly recommend visiting. Thank you for the delicious meal! I will definitely visit again.

With no prior information, I stumbled upon a "German confectionery" sign on my way and was drawn into this shop. Oh boy, my instincts were spot on! This shop was a great find with delicious baked goods that were simple yet fantastic. They had several types of Stollen, perhaps due to Christmas being near or maybe they have them year-round, including Stollen with poppy seeds and Stollen without marzipan, which I had never heard of before. Of course, I bought them all. They also had salt pound cake, Florentines, and other items that caught my eye. The sizes were quite small but the prices ranged from 300 to 400 yen, so it's not exactly budget-friendly, but you can really sense the care put into making each item. They also had 2-3 types of fresh confectionery, but I had plans after this so I had to pass on them. Both the cookies and pound cakes were delicious!! I definitely want to try the fresh confectionery next time, so I will definitely be revisiting this place! Thank you for the wonderful meal!!!

In the backyard of a residential house, there is a shop selling German pastries and cakes that I had been curious about for a while. The entrance is through a wooden arch with small dwarf figurines and a sign that makes you feel like you've traveled back in time. On this day, I tried two cakes. One cake was wrapped in a sweet caramel-like paste with nuts and soft cream on a tart crust. It had a delightful combination of soft texture, nuts, and tart crust. The other cake had a firm cake base with a berry sauce and a generous amount of whipped cream sandwiched in between. The balance of berry acidity and cream sweetness was just right and delicious. Since it's German cake, it has a slightly different flavor compared to regular cakes, and I definitely want to stop by again.

I suddenly felt like eating Schwarzwälder (Black Forest) cake and chocolate and cherry cake, so I searched various things on the internet and discovered this shop! Finally, I mustered up the courage last month to visit it. The shop is very cute, just like in the photos on the website. Although there was no specific cake I was looking for that day, I was able to purchase several different kinds. Lemon peel cake, Baumtorte fondant, Frankfurter Kranz, and Bienenstich (buttercream with chocolate and cherry) were some of the cakes I bought. I was most looking forward to the Frankfurter Kranz, but it was quite sweet for me, however, the other cakes were moderately sweet (if not a bit mild) and very delicious. The lemon peel was refreshing for summer, and the Baumtorte fondant and especially the Bienenstich were incredibly delicious. The combination of sweet and sour flavors with chocolate and buttercream melded together in my mouth, and I decided I would definitely come back for more. Of course, the cakes change daily depending on the season, so it's not guaranteed, but on the other hand, I'm sure I will encounter different delicious cakes when I visit again. I will definitely visit again! 😊🍰🍋🍒🍫🥮 https://www.facebook.com/muttiskuchen/ I will be back for the red currant tart, Apfelstrudel, lemon pie, and more~.

I finally visited Muttis Kuchen, a German pastry shop a short walk from Sangenjaya. The pastries are sold in a normal house's front yard, but they are very authentic. Every pastry I tried was delicious! I was excited to try German pastries that I had never seen before.

I was drawn to the German-colored cones and couldn't help but turn the corner. It was my first time trying German sweets, and despite the simple seasoning, they were very delicious, so I've been going back for more. It seems like they have different items depending on the season, so I can enjoy them all year round. I have tried various things such as cheesecake, butter cake, and cookies a few times at this renowned shop I found during the pandemic. I was satisfied when I finally visited on Black Forest Cake day.

A German pastry shop located on Chazawa Street, connecting Shimokitazawa and Sangenjaya, near the intersection with Awashima Street. The shop is part of a residence. Although the variety is limited, they sell simple and carefully made German sweets. Lemon and Poppy Seed Cake for 380 yen. The lemon peel is not very noticeable, but it's a simple pound cake with poppy seeds. A comforting cake with a mild sweetness. The price may be a bit high. This time, only one item was purchased, so the rating is tentative.

The cookies were a bit on the expensive side, but they had a refined and not overly sweet taste, which was nice. The lemon cake was also very delicious, although it was a shame that the syrup part stuck to the plastic wrap. Thank you for the meal!

I bought German pastries. Stollen and Baumkuchen. The sliced Stollen seems to be made for Christmas. Baumkuchen is a Baumkuchen covered in chocolate. The Stollen is crispy, with a soft texture of fruits inside the dough enveloping the wheaty taste. The sugar coating is firm, but overall the sweetness is just right. The Baumkuchen is shaped like a Christmas tree. I thought there was a Bethlehem star, but it was just a sticker on the package. The flat Baumkuchen is coated with a rich chocolate. It starts out moist, yet changes to a crispy texture. It's moist, but has a clean finish.

I was originally planning to go to a sweets shop that is listed in the top 100 on Tabelog in my neighborhood, but when I arrived at the shop, there was a sign saying "Closed for the day"! So I decided to go to my second choice, which was this shop. I walked along Chazawa Street, near the popular bakery "Nukumuku". I thought the shop would be along the street, but it turned out to be at a private residence further back. I was surprised! I couldn't find it from the street, so I was worried that they might not be open. Following the sign from the street, I entered the private residence. It was a bit nerve-wracking to enter someone else's home. I passed through the gate and into the backyard. The staff, or rather the owner of the house, greeted me at the right moment. Perhaps due to the hot weather, the sweets were stored inside and quickly displayed in the yard. There were several types of pound cakes, cookies, cheesecake, and Sachertorte available. I chose a cheesecake and a pound cake made with the same dough as the Sachertorte. Although the individual prices were not clear, the total for both was ¥810. The cheesecake needed to be refrigerated, so I decided to have it right away. The baked cheesecake looked heavy, but it was surprisingly light! It had a rich flavor with a refreshing lemon taste that wasn't too overwhelming. The balance between richness and lightness was well done. I will save the Sachertorte for my next snack since it can last for a few days. Although it may not seem cheap, the handcrafted feel of the sweets was nice.

Suddenly, in the back of the area where I thought it was a residential area or not a condominium, a sign appeared. Huh? It's a dead end, but what's open here? Curious, I approached the sign and found myself wondering, is this a single-family home? Despite my concerns, I was quite excited. I ventured into the backyard and saw horse sculptures and cute trees. There, tucked away, was a small shop called Muttis Kuchen. It's a shop run by a German confectionery master, offering a wide range of homemade German sweets, from simple and gentle treats made by the mother for her family to more unique German confections. The entrance to the shop is in the backyard, and there is a corner where various handmade German sweets are sold. It seems that the products are constantly changing, so there may be different items each day. The shopkeeper (homeowner) was always present, but I couldn't help but wonder what kind of shop it was. It felt a bit awkward to stay if you weren't ready to buy something. Also, they don't have square boxes like those from a cake shop; the sweets are packed in plastic bags for takeaway. It's more like snacks to enjoy at home than gifts to bring to someone else. The shop mainly focuses on baked goods, and the cookies looked cute. I wanted to try some cakes, so I bought a couple of Baumtorte. Baum in Germany is traditionally a dense rather than fluffy cake, and Baumtorte recreates this by baking it in a tart form. The Baumtorte looked moist and delicious, with a crunchy sugar coating. It tasted somehow nostalgic. The slightly burnt flavor at the base was appealing. Just one piece filled me up completely. While the shop seems to specialize in baked goods, I wish they had more cake options and stayed open later in the evening. It's a unique experience to visit a confectionery shop in a resort area.

This is a shop located in a residential area between Sangenjaya Station and Shimokitazawa Station. There is a small sign at the entrance, leading you to a regular house entrance. As you go further, you will see a variety of baked goods lined up under the eaves. The display shelves look like a play kitchen set, giving you a feeling of being lost in Alice in Wonderland. The products seem to be German sweets baked and sold at home, all of them are cute and it's really hard to decide! This time, I bought a chocolate cake from the refrigerator. The chocolate cake was light and easy to eat. Even though I had a full lunch, I finished it in no time for a snack. The cookies and other baked goods are also very cute, and I always end up buying them as gifts for my friends. I highly recommend this shop!
