I've always wanted to go to "Hasegawa" for sushi! My friend and I were both excited and looking forward to it, but we ended up at the wrong meeting place the day before. Haha. Anyway, since I had checked the location of the restaurant beforehand, we headed straight there! As we went up to the top floor (5th floor) of a stylish building, we left behind the bustling atmosphere of the drinking district and entered a lovely space. Even though it was a weekday, the place was full of customers, and all the private rooms were occupied. Truly, Hasegawa is a popular place. Making a reservation was the right choice (o^^o). We were guided to the counter seats and the course started. The first dish was smoked sea bream with broccoli and white melon with walnut cream sauce. The smoky aroma of the smoked fish and the creamy sauce matched perfectly, creating a new deliciousness! The next dish was conger eel soup with conger eel that was so big and fluffy, with an elegant taste that made us feel calm. The appetizer included eel roll, edamame castella, potato dumplings, golden cheese, young sweetfish confit, abalone simmered in soy sauce, fava beans with pickled mullet roe, and cherry tomato. Everything was delicious with careful seasoning, but my favorites were the abalone and the potato and golden cheese. My friend was in a good mood, saying "This goes well with wine." The next dish was a daily sushi special with conger eel and young corn pressed sushi, and daikon and yellowtail roll sushi. The assorted sushi plate included scallops, golden sea bream, natural horse mackerel, sea bream, and bonito. The grilled dish was Kamo eggplant and lobster gratin. The lobster was juicy and delicious, and we even finished the eggplant container. It was soft and tasty. The main dish was roast beef made with black beef. The roast beef was thick, full of flavor, and juicy. The fried dish was fried baby octopus. The meal included recommended nigiri sushi with tuna belly, natural sea bream from Awaji, blackthroat seaperch from Shimane, turban shell from Fukushima, and skin from Amakusa, Kumamoto. The sushi was truly amazing! The ingredients were fresh and the presentation was beautiful. We kept nodding in agreement while eating. Haha. The soup was red miso soup, and for dessert, we had soft-serve ice cream made from fresh milk from Takarabokujo in Kutsuki Village, Shiga Prefecture. It was a refreshing gelato-like soft-serve ice cream. From start to finish, we truly enjoyed the delicious meal! The staff were friendly and made us feel very comfortable. I would love to go back for another special occasion!
