One day, I was invited by my daughter to "Hanamjip" in Shinjuku, Tokyo, at 1-14-18 Okubo, where we had the Samgyeopchukmi (spicy) dish. It cost 3080 yen. "Chukmi" seems to refer to octopus in Korean. It seems to be a popular dish in Shin-Okubo lately. It's a stir-fried dish with lots of octopus and a spicy flavor. The Samgyeopchukmi also had pork belly and tteokbokki. The waitress cut the chukmi for us while cooking. Hanamjip opened in September 2021. My daughter had been there a few times before. The seating is at round tables with a gas stove in the center. I had a draft beer, which was a premium malt. The cover charge is 200 yen per person. The chukmi dishes start from 2580 yen and come with side dishes. We got bean sprout namul, pickled radish, quail eggs, seaweed, perilla leaves, and lettuce. There was also a burnt rice soup. It was my first time trying chukmi, and it was delicious with its spicy flavor. My wife loves Korean dramas, so I would like to take her here next time. My daughter is working hard at a part-time job after quitting her job in Tokyo, so I appreciate her inviting me. It was a delicious meal. Thank you.

The store has been renovated and the interior is very beautiful. The second floor seating area has a trendy Korean vibe!! - Copchan Pure Tofu Stew ¥990 - Chukumi Set Meal ¥990 This place has amazing cost performance!! The lunch is only 990 yen but it comes with daily side dishes, multi-grain rice, soup, and a drink. I ordered the Copchan Pure Tofu Stew and it was filled with lots of hormone and vegetables! It was spicy, but the richness of the hormone and other flavors balanced out the spiciness and it was delicious! The Nejangtan also looked delicious, so I might try that next time!! Recently, the lunch options in Shin-Okubo have been evolving and it's really surprising. This restaurant also allows reservations online or by phone, which is convenient. I highly recommend this place, so definitely give it a try!

Only 5 minutes walk from Shin-Okubo Station♀️ Just past the handsome street, at the first corner, it doesn't feel out of place❓Even though it's a Korean restaurant, they have Italian menu items like pasta and pizza, so it's a bit strange‼️But hey, pizza with green chili peppers is actually a good match, and the crust is quite delicious❗️But of course, I had to go back to Korean cuisine. They had a dish called "Chicken Hormone Jjagaimo" which is sweet and savory, kind of like a Korean-style tartiflette. The taste was great and satisfying(*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑ When it started to thicken, I added some water and finished with pokunpa to fill up. By the way, there was this "Delicious Powder" by the manufacturer GOSEI, which was kimchi powder and tasted amazing on everything. I thought it would be interesting if they added more Italian-Korean fusion dishes for differentiation. I thought I would resist the temptation of beer since the set meal comes with 4 side dishes and a soft drink, but the Kakuteki was so delicious that I couldn't resist and ended up ordering a draft beer. The combination of spiciness and flavor in the Chuukumi made me feel like beer was necessary and it paired really well. It's a shame that the beer could have been a bit colder though. This was my first time trying the Chuukumi set meal and it was delicious. I can even enjoy it alone, so I would like to go back to eat it again.

I had some errands to run at Hanamjip Shinjuku, so I decided to have a solo lunch in Shin-Okubo. I've been actively exploring new places lately, and this restaurant is relatively new. You can easily enjoy Chukumi (small octopus) for lunch in Shin-Okubo, which has been growing in popularity recently. The Chukumi set meal with a drink costs only 990 yen! So cheap! Prices have been rising in Shin-Okubo due to inflation, but this place is very affordable. I chose corn tea as my drink. The side dishes were quail eggs, bean sprout namul, pickled radish, and Korean seaweed. The rice was multi-grain. They also served bean sprout soup. As for the taste, the Chukumi was extremely spicy! Even though I can handle spicy food quite well, it was so intense that I almost felt like it was a punishment! It was much spicier than the Chukumi stone pot bibimbap I had at YOSUL before, so it seems like the spiciness of Chukumi varies depending on the restaurant. "Hanamjip / Shin-Okubo - A fusion of Korean and Italian cuisine can be enjoyed at Hanamjip. I've been curious about this place since it opened this year, and I finally got the chance to go. The Tteokbokki pasta was a cream pasta like nothing I've had before, with a surprisingly delicious sweet and spicy cream sauce that was addictively tasty. It went perfectly with the garlic toast. The Bulgogi pizza was also delicious with plenty of cheese, even when it cooled down. The Samgyupsal seems to be popular too, so I want to try that next time. Visited the third restaurant in Shin-Okubo with 5 people at 9:00 pm on a weekday. The stylish and pop interior gave off a Korean vibe, making us all excited. Tried Chamisul Toktok, which came with cucumber pickles, macaroni salad, and bean sprout namul as appetizers. You could get free refills. The cheese balls were strangely delicious despite being a bit dry. Ordered Chapaghetti even though it wasn't on the lunch menu, and it turned out to be noodles with a surprisingly mild flavor. Also tried the Bulgogi Pizza, which was unexpectedly tasty. The contrast between the pop interior and the calm, efficient male waiter was nice. Thank you for the meal.

5/8 Sunny ⇔ Cloudy Had lunch at a new restaurant on Okubo Street. Ordered the Chomcholom Samgyeopsal set. Noticed a dish called Nensam on the menu board, which seemed intriguing. It's a retro-style Samgyeopsal that is only available on the grand menu. Although it's usually for dinner, I was able to order it for lunch as part of the Samgyeopsal set, which requires a minimum order of two servings as advised by the staff. The Nensam and regular Samgyeopsal seemed similar, but it was unclear. The side dishes included cucumber, onion, vinegar, soy sauce, bean sprouts, kimchi, seaweed soup, and macaroni. The macaroni was spiral-shaped and not very flavorful. The soup was light in taste, with a hint of meat flavor. The Samgyeopsal was served with a bed of vegetables like onion, garlic chives, scallions, and carrots. The vegetables seemed lightly cooked. The taste was simple, and when I requested for Gochujang or something similar, they brought two different sauces - a sweet miso and a sesame oil sauce. The miso was not exactly like Gochujang, but had a sweet flavor. Both sauces paired well with the Samgyeopsal, but the sesame oil sauce was the better match.

I arrived at 4:00 AM. After a drinking party, feeling hungry, I thought, "I want to eat Tenjangchige!" When you feel like that, you just have to go, even if it means walking a bit! I rushed into Hanamjib. The Kopcham is also incredibly delicious, but all the soup dishes here are excellent. The rice is not white rice, but mixed grain rice, which is amazing. I want to keep going there as much as possible in the future.

This is a new restaurant that opened last fall along Okubo Street, just before Pungmu. It specializes in Nensam (frozen samgyupsal) and copchang. The exterior and interior are both cute. It's a bit different from the typical street food style copchang places. You can store your belongings or jackets inside the chairs to protect them from splattering oil. On this day, I ordered the copchang assortment (2,980 yen) as I was specifically looking for copchang. The assortment included various cuts of meat, as well as usamgyop and vegetables like pumpkin and enoki mushrooms. The staff will cook everything for you, making it easy. The copchang was juicy and delicious, although personally, I felt that the sauce could use a bit more flavor. However, the bright and pleasant atmosphere makes this place suitable for those who may not enjoy the typical deep and gritty vibe of copchang restaurants, and it seems like a good option for a girls' night out.

Located about 4 minutes east of Hanamjip Shin-Okubo Station, next to Pungmu Honten, is a Korean barbecue and hot pot restaurant that opened last year. I had not had the chance to visit until March 2022 when they started serving lunch. I visited on a weekday afternoon, with about 3 groups of customers already there. The sign outside mentioned hormone and Nensam (frozen bite-sized pork barbecue), and the interior, made of solid wood, had a nice barbecue smell lingering. The atmosphere was a bit stylish, with Korean pop music playing. There was a young male staff member handling the floor, speaking perfect Japanese, a rarity in Korean restaurants in this area. The lunch menu included dishes like a 880 yen hot pot, rice bowl, cold noodles, and a 980 yen barbecue set meal. They also had authentic hot pot dishes like the 2-person serving 2000 yen Kamjatang with rice and Budae Jjigae. I ordered the usual miso stew for 880 yen. The miso stew was packed with clams, zucchini, shimeji mushrooms, green onions, tofu, and potatoes. It was spicy, with a good crab flavor, and very delicious. The side dishes included cucumber pickles, simmered potatoes, and water kimchi, all with a nicely balanced flavor that wasn't too strong. Each dish had a subtle sweet richness, showing that the restaurant is skilled in using sweetness. It was quite affordable, and from what I tried, the food and service were excellent, making it a great place to dine.

I've been here many times already! I wasn't particularly a fan of horumon (offal) before, but the horumon (kopchang) here is exceptionally delicious. And the combination of kopchang and soju is the best! Eating the chewy kopchang and then finishing with refreshing soju is amazing! Definitely give it a try thinking you might be fooled... The soup dishes are also delicious. And the staff is very friendly.
