During the Showa era, there was a TV show where young people born in the Heisei era had to guess whether certain episodes from the Showa era were true or false. They were skeptical about the statement that the name "Seven Eleven" comes from the store's hours of operation, which are from 7 in the morning to 11 at night. They discussed how during the peak of individual shops, stores in Tokyo would often close during holidays like Obon and New Year's, and it was uncommon for them to stay open late into the night. The reviewer mentioned their preference for morning activities and how most chain coffee shops open around 7 am, making it rare to find a place open at 6 am. They visited a coffee shop called "Miyako" for breakfast, where they ordered a daily sandwich and iced lemon tea. Despite the smoke from other customers, they enjoyed the nostalgic atmosphere reminiscent of the Showa era. The sandwich, with ham and potato salad, was tasty, and the lemon tea was refreshing with a hint of bitterness. They concluded that it was a lovely breakfast and expressed interest in trying the spaghetti and other dishes during lunchtime.

I visited Hot Ikkyu for the first time, even though it seems to have many regular customers. The place is spacious and cozy, not too bright even during the day. I decided to try the ginger-infused hot lemon because it was a bit chilly outside. It was nice to sip on the hot drink while replenishing my vitamin levels on the go. I stayed for about 40 minutes, and everyone was saying "see you tomorrow" as they left. It's nice how there are so many cafes like this in Ningyocho. My friend said I might change my mind about wanting to live here when I retire, and he might be right.

On Monday morning (February 6th), I had a salted rice ball for breakfast, followed by a morning coffee at the nearby coffee shop called Towa. This shop is located a little off the main street and serves morning coffee from 6:30 AM. It is a smoking-friendly place, as smoking openly is not allowed in nearby chain stores. The interior has 70 seats, including counter and table seating, with dim lighting. Since smoking is allowed, I chose a seat in a less crowded area. I had only eaten one salted rice ball earlier, so I ordered a toast morning set with hot coffee for 550 yen. Most customers who came in after me ordered without saying much, just specifying hot or cold. When the order arrived, they paid and most seemed to be regulars. The toast morning set included a small omelette, coleslaw, and thinly toasted bread with butter. The coleslaw had a light dressing, the omelette was firm with ketchup on the side. I enjoyed placing the omelette on the toast. It was delicious, but the smell of cigarettes bothered me, so I left soon after finishing. Thank you for the meal.

A friend's family-run restaurant ☕️ I always order the bacon and spinach spaghetti with Neapolitan sauce here, and this time I wanted to try adding a hamburger made with 100% beef for a meaty and delicious meal. The spaghetti is limited in quantity, so if you really want to try it, it's best to go early or even reserve it if you're a regular customer. This is completely unrelated, but personally, I don't like leaving food when dining out. I think it's good manners to try to finish what you ordered as much as possible (unless it really doesn't suit your taste). As an adult, I want to be someone who understands how much they can eat and has good manners when it comes to food.

The shop is located on a street just off the main road. It seems to be popular with locals and commuters in the morning. Smoking is allowed throughout the shop. Smokers may appreciate this as national chain stores are non-smoking. They offer a wide variety of drinks. There are various notes posted on the walls. The menu is also placed on the table, but it was too dark to read. I ordered a morning iced coffee. You can choose whether to have syrup in the coffee or not, I chose the sweet option. The coffee arrived first. It was a hot morning, over 30 degrees Celsius before 7 am in June, so the cold coffee was very welcome. It had a slightly sweet taste, which I liked, although I prefer it a bit sweeter. The plate arrived afterwards. A café in the hot season is like heaven. I finished my meal today as well. Thank you for the meal.

Ningyocho is a rare shop that opens from 6:30 am on weekdays. It is located a bit off the main street, but since there are not many shops around, it is easy to find. The master cooks while the lady takes care of the hall, creating a harmonious atmosphere where regulars and new customers greet each other in a friendly manner. The spacious interior is dimly lit in the morning. There are menus on the tables as well as menu strips on the walls, which are helpful as it can be hard to read small text in dim lighting. They offer a value-for-money morning set starting from 470 yen, as well as a standalone hamburger sandwich for 580 yen. I ordered an iced coffee for 440 yen and a hot dog for 380 yen. They asked if I wanted gum syrup or milk. The order arrived promptly, along with a corrected bill. The iced coffee was average. The hot dog consisted of a light and fluffy bun with sausage, meat sauce, and mayonnaise, keeping it simple. They also provided Tabasco sauce for a bit of a kick. The portion size was small, but I was able to relax and enjoy my coffee in this old-fashioned cafe. There were ashtrays available, but I did not notice any smoke during my visit.

A morning set that includes more than just toast is unusual. It comes with omelette and cabbage, making it nutritious. The cabbage has a simple coleslaw-like flavor. The restaurant is bustling with salarymen. The staff send you off with a "have a good day".

The pizza toast blend coffee will be ready in 20 minutes. The pizza toast is topped with bacon, onions that are well sautéed, and cheese. So, there is no rawness in the onions, and the bacon is crispy. The coffee is from Chimoto Coffee. As expected, Chimoto Coffee has a strong acidity! Smoking is allowed inside, making it a relaxing place for smokers. The menu price and the amount paid were different, so I wonder if there was a price increase??

A famous coffee shop for morning lovers. It opens from 6:30 am on weekdays and Saturdays. The shop's information on the food review site is managed by the shop itself, and they also post pictures of their dishes. It seems like they specialize in spaghetti and sandwiches. Arrived in front of the shop before 7 am. The front was dark, but there was a stand sign out, so I opened the door with confidence. The master and madam greeted me energetically. There were already several customers inside. Many people were lighting up cigarettes. I avoided the purple smoke and sat at a 4-person table on the right as soon as I entered. I ordered the "Sandwich Morning" (520 yen) with hot coffee from the madam who brought cold water and a cloth towel. The madam placed the order with the master in a familiar voice. Since I am almost a regular customer, everyone knows what to order without saying anything. Some even pay in advance or leave the money on the table as soon as they sit down. The morning set was served in just 2 minutes after entering (surprising). It consisted of three small ham and egg sandwiches. The coffee had the taste of an old-fashioned coffee shop. The sandwiches had the aroma of margarine. The bill that the madam left was a pre-printed one with the menu already listed. Looking at it, I noticed that the "Before/After" section was to inform the staff whether to serve the drink before or after the meal. "Ice In/Out" indicated whether the iced coffee had gum syrup or not. "Salad G/Y/Coleslaw" meant green salad, vegetable salad, or coleslaw. "P.T./Mitchy 490" Hmm... it must be the difference between pizza toast and meat cheese toast. Oh, it's time to move on soon. I took the bill to the counter to pay. When I paid 520 yen, I asked the madam what "O/G/T" meant. It stood for orange juice, guava juice, and tomato juice. The 440 yen juice options were orange, blood orange, lemon, tomato, and guava (as listed on the menu). I learned that guava is more popular than blood orange or lemon juice, thanked them, and left the shop.

First visit in July 2021 (No. 2884). After having lunch in the Ningyocho area, I moved to my original territory, Nihonbashi, but before that, I picked up one more item here. I visited around 12:30 on a weekday, and there were many customers already there, creating a lively atmosphere. Ningyocho is not known for its high level of manners, so the usual sight of people dining without masks was quite common, haha. I did not have dessert after lunch, but I ordered a Cream Soda for 540 yen. The amount of ice cream was decent, but there was mostly ice in the drink, and the cherry, a staple in Cream Soda, was semi-frozen and lacking in sweetness. It seemed like most of the customers were men who came to smoke, so if there is no smoking area, I might visit again in the future. Thank you for the meal.

Let's have lunch at a local coffee shop one day - "Coffee Shop Tsua" is a traditional coffee shop located in Nihonbashi Ningyocho. It has become famous through media exposure and is located near the Koami Shrine. It is on the first floor of a building called Ma Gyo Kaikan. The interior of the shop is quite spacious with plenty of seating. Weekdays are a place of relaxation for those who are working, but on weekends, it has a relaxed atmosphere. All seats are smoking allowed. What shall we order since there is an empty seat now?! The menu offers a variety of options such as spaghetti, gratin, toast, and sandwiches. There is also a wide selection of drinks. When we visited with a hungry stomach, we ended up ordering three items from the food menu for two people! But all of them were delicious! "Mushroom (Napolitan)" for 750 yen has a slightly light ketchup flavor, but there is a richness in the taste, perhaps from the sautéed oil. It is full of mushrooms such as mushrooms, shimeji, and shiitake, with onions as well. The spaghetti has a fluffy texture. "Cheese Baked Potatoes" for 500 yen look delicious with a crispy surface. The large-cut potatoes are creamy with a white sauce. The slightly burnt surface adds a fragrant taste. "Hamburger Sandwich" for 530 yen has a crunchy toasted bread with a hamburger sandwiched inside. Quite voluminous! The well-kneaded hamburger has a spicy taste. The mayonnaise spread on the bread adds an accent. The coleslaw served on the side is refreshing and delicious. "Blend" for 180 yen (set with gratin) has a mild taste with a hint of bitterness and acidity. It has a refreshing taste. "Iced Tea" for 180 yen (set with spaghetti) was chosen on a slightly steamy day. I asked for some sweetness, and it was a refreshing iced tea. The meal menu was delicious and had a good amount of volume. The prices are relatively affordable, and the set drinks offer good value. I have been curious about their morning menu, and after trying the meal menu, I am now interested in trying their morning menu as well. Such a receipt is nice, isn't it?

Alley off Ningyocho Street. There are also many famous shops here. Oh, but once you pass this point, all the shops suddenly disappear... A café in such a hidden spot. Sometimes, café food is nice too. Pasta, gratin, and other items on the menu... seems like a variety of dishes are available. With so many options, I should be able to decide on something. Alright, let's go in. Oh, there's a strong smell of cigarettes right away... Ashtrays are placed on the tables by default. Wow, the interior of the shop is surprisingly spacious. And the retro Showa-era decor. It feels nostalgic and comforting. Oh, the master is smoking at the counter! No wonder smoking is allowed here. Now, what should I order... there doesn't seem to be a specific lunch menu. So, I'll choose from this menu... The main focus seems to be light meals typical of a café. The outdoor signboard mentioned pasta, but the menu lists spaghetti. Which one is correct? Is tomato sauce the same as Napolitan? Feeling nostalgic, I'll go with the mushroom Napolitan. But that alone won't be enough, so I'll also add a sandwich. Let's make it a hamburger sandwich. A café where smoking is allowed, and they have healthy juice... seems contradictory (laughs). The Napolitan arrived first. It has a nostalgic charm. This portion is truly from the Showa era! Exciting... Oh, the classic ketchup flavor. This flavor is so nostalgic. Sometimes, you just crave that ketchup taste. The noodles are thin with a strong sear. The dish is packed with plenty of mushrooms. This is not pasta, it's spaghetti. Gratin and a sandwich... After some hesitation, I chose the hamburger sandwich. When the hamburger is sandwiched between bread like this, it transforms into a different dish. Delicious! The freshly grilled hamburger and the sauce between the bread are amazing. The taste is incredible! Hamburger and hamburger sandwich are completely different. A taste that boys can't resist. It feels like the old-fashioned Ningyocho is condensed into this one shop... Oh, this shop opens from 6:30 onwards. And they also have a morning menu. Alright, next time I'll come in the morning.

Located in the Ningyocho area, this café has a traditional atmosphere. Normally, I come here for coffee after meals, but this time I tried their food for the first time. I ordered spaghetti with meat sauce and a hamburger on top. The flavor was unique to a café and made me want to come back again. In addition to spaghetti, they also have sandwiches, gratin, toast, and other café-style dishes on the menu, so I would like to visit again sometime.

This morning, I had Saturday Morning at a café located in the same block as Nihonbashi Elementary School in Ningyocho. The interior lighting was dim, creating a clean and cozy atmosphere more like a stylish dining room than a traditional coffee shop. There were no sofas, mainly table seats, with a considerable depth and a large number of seats. Although the Meat Sauce Spaghetti is popular here, I opted for the Morning Set (¥470) since it was morning. You can choose between a sandwich and toast, and I chose toast. I had a cup of blended coffee with the set. The set included thinly sliced toast with coleslaw and rolled omelette on a single plate. The coffee was served in a stylish ceramic cup. The toast had a crispy surface with a nice golden brown color, and the bread itself was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, providing two different textures to enjoy. The coleslaw, with a hint of Italian dressing, was very light and perfect for breakfast. The rolled omelette, topped with a dollop of ketchup, was not fluffy like an omelette but rather firmly cooked, making it enjoyable to eat on top of the toast or on its own. Looking at the menu on the table, spaghetti was listed as the top item. I couldn't help but imagine how delicious it would be to eat spaghetti in such a spacious and pleasant atmosphere. I am already planning my next visit to this place.

Today, I visited a traditional coffee shop in Ningyocho for breakfast for the first time. When I mustered up the courage to open the door, there were a few customers inside, including some who were smoking. Although the shop allows smoking throughout, as a non-smoker, I chose a seat away from the smokers. I ordered the breakfast toast set and a cup of blend coffee. The toast set included slices of toast, coleslaw, and a simple scrambled egg with ketchup. The coleslaw was particularly delicious, and I wished I had more of it. The blend coffee had a nice aroma and a great taste. I wished I could have stayed longer, but more smokers arrived later. I thought it would be even better if there were non-smoking areas, but I guess that's just the atmosphere of a traditional coffee shop. Thank you, Towa-san, for the meal!

A relaxing spot for smokers working in nearby offices! We arrived just before 1 pm on a weekday and managed to find a seat despite it being almost full. The place doesn't have designated smoking areas, so it seems like smoking is allowed throughout. Most customers seem to be here for smoking, as the place is quite smoky. The staff consists of all males except for one female employee. My companion and I ordered iced cafe au lait, with one sweet and one without syrup. The prices here are very reasonable. As we sipped our drinks, we enjoyed a rare moment of relaxation after lunch. Even without much conversation, we both felt recharged in the calm atmosphere. This cafe is a typical office district hangout, where customers pay for the time spent rather than just the drinks or food. Despite the affordable prices, the place is always packed, likely due to its popularity among regulars. Another factor is the friendly interaction between the female employee and customers, creating a sense of loyalty. This cafe in a downtown office area is a gem!

Coffee shop Toa☆Ningyocho. Morning set for 420 yen includes a sandwich and ice milk. The shop is located about 200 meters from Ningyocho station. The sandwich was soft and nicely cooked with fluffy eggs and just the right amount of ham. The flavor was simple and perfect for breakfast. The milk was not too rich but had a good taste. The lemon water was also a nice touch. The only downside was the 100% smoking rate, although it wasn't a problem today as it was not crowded.

【Morning Bread Series】In the morning, it's morning bread (definitely)♪ (I like this sound! I borrowed this phrase from my follower ( ̄ー ̄; ) Please check the official website or photos for the morning menu here (serving time: OPEN ~ 11:00) ・Morning Toast 420 yen I originally planned to have a sandwich, but I ended up ordering this after seeing the sign that said "with rolled omelette". The toast was thinly sliced and half-cut, with the rolled omelette and coleslaw, along with a coffee set. I usually choose tea for my drink, but since the name of the shop sings about being a coffee shop, I chose coffee. The calm atmosphere of the Showa era inside the shop, combined with the quiet but attentive shop owner, creates a quietly harmonious feeling. Now, I'd like to talk about the difference between "tamago" and "tamago". There seems to be a clear criteria, but in reality, both are used in this description. In my image, uncooked is "tamago" and cooked is "tamago". After all, we don't say "raw tamago", right? So, what exactly is the "rolled omelette" at this shop? "Tamago": raw, but "yaki" is it cooked? Well, whatever (laughs) Thank you for the meal, I'll come back again.
