I found a cafe while wandering around Shimo-Kitazawa. It's a small cafe on the second floor of a narrow alley, and it has a calm exterior but when you enter, you can hear the sound of records playing. It's a jazz cafe with an edgy vibe typical of Shimo-Kitazawa. I've been to jazz cafes before, but the selection here has a unique edge that really captures the essence of Shimo-Kitazawa. Not only is the atmosphere great, but the menu is fantastic too. I ordered a ginger ale, coffee float, and egg sandwich, and they were all delicious! The ginger ale was really intense, with a strong ginger flavor and a hint of curry-like spices. It's hard to find ginger ale of this quality. The coffee float had two scoops of ice cream, and one was precariously perched on top, so I had to carefully sip the coffee to make room for the ice cream. The egg sandwich had a nice mustard aroma that led the flavor profile of the sandwich. Each bite was a delightful experience. The cafe doesn't have many seats, but it's a great spot for those who want to experience a classic kissaten vibe in Shimo-Kitazawa.

The cafe on the second floor requires climbing a steep staircase to reach the entrance, making it difficult for wheelchair users. I stumbled upon this cafe while wandering around Shimokitazawa on a hot day when I needed a break from walking. The interior was cozy with a few sofa and table seats, and the staff quickly seated me as there were only a few available seats. They informed me that loud conversations were not allowed, fitting for a jazz cafe where music is meant to be enjoyed. Upon entering, I was surprised by the loud music playing, but it was perfect for drowning out normal conversation. The walls were lined with records selected by the staff. The music was not what I expected jazz to be, but it had a punch to it. I ordered the homemade ginger ale, which had a nice balance of ginger and spices, perfect for a hot day, the coffee float with two generous scoops of vanilla ice cream, and the egg toast sandwich, which had a crispy bread with a delicious mustard and dressing combination. The portion sizes were just right. The high volume of the music made conversations intimate, giving off a true Shimokitazawa vibe.

I recently visited a famous café in Shimokitazawa where you can enjoy music that I'm currently obsessed with. The café has a long history, having opened on June 9, 1953 in Shimokitazawa, but it closed in September 24, 2009 due to redevelopment. However, it reopened in a new form in 2020, preserving many items from the previous store. The interior is lovely with records displayed on shelves near the entrance and a unique seating arrangement. As it is a jazz café, the background music is jazz, played at a slightly high volume while conversation is kept low. The café has a wide range of opening hours and also offers alcohol, making it a great place to visit in the evening. I visited in the evening and ordered a blend coffee and anko butter toast, which was delicious. The toast came with butter already melted on it, topped with sweet anko paste, and was served in halves for easy sharing. The blend coffee was a perfect match, with a refreshing bitterness that complemented the sweetness of the toast. The small cookies that came with the coffee were a nice touch. The café also had cute cups and saucers with the name "Masako" on them, which were popular on social media. Overall, I highly recommend enjoying the café's atmosphere by dining in, although takeout is also available with a discount.

After having lunch with my friends, we decided to have a meeting at a cafe. We ordered two iced coffees and were told by the staff to keep our voices down. The cafe was playing jazz music at a moderate volume, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their coffee while listening to the music. Although I don't know much about jazz, it didn't bother our conversation. We finished our coffees and then moved to another location. It was a good experience overall. Ossu ossu!

The shop is located right near the station, tucked away on a side street off the main road, making it a bit hard to notice at first glance. The interior is not very spacious but has a cozy feel, like a mix between a family home and a café. Jazz music plays at a high volume inside, with a notice at the beginning saying, "This is a place to listen to jazz, so please keep conversations quiet." Even if you're not particularly into jazz, the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. It may not be the best spot for a lively date, but it's perfect for those who enjoy spending time alone, appreciate silence, or can have quiet conversations. I also ordered toast along with my coffee, and the margarine-soaked toast made me feel happy. Despite being somewhat crowded, the jazz music drowns out the noise, leaving only the warmth of the people. There's a unique charm to this place that you can't find anywhere else.

Jazz Cafe Masako in Shimokitazawa is a cafe located in Shimokitazawa. Recommended by a junior colleague who is based in Shimokitazawa, I visited this cafe for a short break in between browsing through second-hand shops. This time, I ordered ice cream and a hot coffee. The ice cream was a type with granola and other toppings at the bottom, and it came with two scoops. You can choose several toppings to put on top, and I chose rum this time. The combination of the cool ice cream and the fragrant rum on a hot day, followed by pouring hot coffee over it, was a really enjoyable experience. The cafe is located about a 5-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station, up the stairs of a quiet building on the second floor. The interior of the cafe was filled with jazz music, as the name suggests, and there were a surprisingly large number of records lined up along the walls. They change the music regularly, so you can stay there without getting bored. It's the kind of place where you could spend all day reading books, especially since I have a lot of unread books piled up. I would like to experience that here someday. If I go to Shimokitazawa again, I will definitely stop by for a little break. It was delicious, thank you! (*´◒`*)

Entering a narrow alley in Shimokitazawa and climbing to the second floor, you will find a cafe. Without any prominent sign, it may go unnoticed by those who are unfamiliar. Inside the cozy cafe, jazz music is always playing. The shelves are lined with a large collection of records, creating a charming atmosphere. Despite being a longstanding establishment, it is well-known among locals and attracts many first-time visitors. I ordered an iced cafe au lait (650 yen), which came with a brown sugar syrup on the side. It was a well-balanced cafe au lait with a pleasant hint of bitterness.

The voluminous chicken sauté is always delicious. The decaf coffee has a unique aroma that is consistent. This time, I had the opportunity to sample a spring cabbage roll cabbage, which was a prototype. There are people relaxing alone, chatting in groups, and various types of people here. It's a busy restaurant with a steady stream of customers even on weekdays.

First jazz cafe experience. This is jazz... listening to records while relaxing. The seating is limited, but each seat is spacious. By chance, everyone here is alone. Ordered a cafe au lait with extra milk for a gentle flavor. Even without sugar, it was sweet enough.

The cup and saucer with the name "Masako" on it are cute. The combination of thick buttery toast with large red bean paste and whipped cream is irresistibly delicious. The cafe latte has a smooth and creamy taste that I really enjoyed. The atmosphere of the place is cozy, with jazz music playing in the background. It was quite crowded on weekends, with the first person arriving around 1 pm. The restaurant originally opened in 1953 but closed in 2009 due to redevelopment, reopening in 2020. The shelf near the entrance is filled with records, creating a relaxing space to enjoy. Here is the store information: Address: 2-31-2 Kitazawa, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo 2F Opening hours: 12:00-22:00 Closed on Thursdays Access: Short walk from Shimokitazawa Station Other: Cash only, Non-smoking.

I came to watch a live show in my town, Shimokitazawa. For lunch, we went to a jazz cafe, a retro and lovely place. It's amazing that such a place still exists in the Reiwa era. The cafe was run by two women, and the pilaf they served was incredibly delicious. It's a timeless mystery why pilaf in cafes is always so good. Check out the rest in the image. Thank you for the meal.

The dish that turned into an excellent one, An Toast, is a soft butter toast made with fluffy white bread topped generously with large grains of sweet bean paste and whipped cream, faithfully recreating the taste of red bean paste toast that comes to mind when you hear of it. It paired well with a coffee with a deep roast from Colombia (Nel Drip).
Menu for this visit:
An Toast
Coffee (Colombia, deep roast, Nel Drip) - 1050 yen per person (lunch)
Enjoying this restaurant:
Established in 1953, reopened in 2020, this jazz cafe is filled with a large collection of LP records, furniture, and objects that evoke nostalgia. The instrumental jazz music creates a cozy atmosphere.
Order details:
An Toast - 450 yen
Coffee (Colombia, deep roast, Nel Drip) - 600 yen

Hidden jazz cafe located in Shimokitazawa. It is on the second floor of a mixed-use building! Sophisticated, retro atmosphere. A place where you can enjoy cafe time slowly while listening to jazz and reading a book! I was a little nervous to enter, but once inside, the coffee was just amazing. The blend coffee (dark roast, pour-over) for ¥600 was delicious, with low acidity, strong bitterness, and a deep flavor. And it comes with a cookie too. The chocolate and fig cake for ¥600 was coated with chocolate on the outside, generously filled with nuts, and plenty of figs inside. The chewy texture of the figs was irresistible. I was on a sweets spree that day, but this cake and coffee were so delicious that I finished them in no time. The fig cake is quite large, so sharing it is also a good idea! The whipped cream and blueberries that come with it are a nice touch. With this level of satisfaction, ¥600 is a great deal.

Located on the second floor of a building, this cozy jazz cafe is recommended for jazz enthusiasts. They grind and brew the coffee beans on the spot, making it a great place for those who want to savor their coffee slowly. With limited seating, it's best to visit with one or two people. Their blend costs 600 yen, and they also offer a chocolate and fig cake for 600 yen. Note that the stairs leading to the shop are steep, so those with weak legs should be cautious.

On Sunday at 5:00 PM, the restaurant was almost full. I decided to come here today after going to Hachijo the other day (lol). I sat on the sofa and enjoyed a leisurely coffee. I ordered an iced Vienna coffee and red bean toast. The coffee had a sharp taste and was delicious. The sweet whipped cream went really well with the coffee (the pine nuts? Maybe not necessary haha). The staff seemed very busy as they were serving customers non-stop. I forgot about the red bean toast and couldn't eat it (lol). I'll have to try it again next time. Thank you for the meal.

I found out that there is a jazz cafe in Shimokitazawa and decided to visit it! It has been around since 1953, closed in 2009 for redevelopment, and reopened, making fans happy. The cafe is located on the second floor of a yakiniku restaurant, and you climb the old-fashioned stairs to enter. When you open the door, you are greeted by the sound of loud jazz coming from the speakers, which is quite overwhelming. I was seated at a small table in front of the speaker, giving me a nostalgic elementary school desk vibe. I enjoyed the jazz while waiting for my coffee. The blend was a dark roast, served in a cute cup and saucer with "Masako" written on it. A small cookie was also included as a nice touch. The coffee had a refreshing bitterness, making it easy to drink. They also offer takeout, and you get a discount of 100 yen if you opt for it. However, I recommend enjoying the jazz and coffee in the cafe if you have the chance. Payment is cash only.

Chet Baker and Woody Shaw playing in the background create a pleasant atmosphere. It's the kind of place where I could easily spend hours, especially back in my student days. I ordered a cup of Colombian light roast coffee and some toast with jam. The overall rating for the cafe is 1.9 out of 2.5, with high marks for cleanliness, water quality, seating comfort, staff service, and the music selection. As for the food, the soup, sauce, and main dish scored 0.6 out of 0.8 for taste and presentation, while the ingredients, noodles, and rice had a score of 0.4 out of 0.7 for flavor and compatibility with the soup. In terms of value for money, the cafe scored 0.6 out of 1.0, making it a reasonably priced option considering the quality of food and service.

I saw the logo at the storefront and thought, "Hmm, is it the same logo as the jazz cafe Masako that disappeared due to redevelopment?" I used to frequent that place a lot during my student days, so I remembered the logo clearly. There may be some connection. When I entered, I noticed the speakers set up in the slightly cramped interior and became convinced. Perhaps something happened and they relocated. I enjoyed coffee and strawberry milk while listening to the music playing. Next time, I'll try ordering the hot cocoa that I used to like. Thank you for the meal.

The toast with butter soaked in, topped with a gentle sweet red bean paste and whipped cream with a strong milk flavor. It has a nice sweet and salty taste that is irresistible. It's more like a lunch than a snack with a decent portion size. The taste is pretty average, as expected. The cup is distinctive, so it might be good for those who like taking photos.

There is a shop on the second floor of a mixed-use building a little way into the alley of Shimokitazawa Ichiban-gai. On a Friday night after the issuance of the priority measures for prevention of the spread of COVID-19, there were no other customers. Upon opening the door and entering the shop, you can feel the warmth of the dark brown wood and the lovely interior. Next to the entrance, there is a wall filled with JAZZ LP records, and on top of them are stereo speakers that produce a warm, rounded sound with a strong presence. In such a moody atmosphere, you can relax slowly while surrendering yourself to the rich sound of JAZZ. It feels like you can share time with the past at this "legendary JAZZ cafe". I had a blend coffee (tax included 600 yen) and buttered toast (tax included 400 yen). The cup and plate were labeled "Masako". The blend coffee was a well-balanced cup with a good balance of bitterness, richness, and smoothness. The buttered toast was made with thick slices of bread, butter, and a little salt. The blend coffee was delicious. It seems like a great place to get lost in your thoughts or contemplations alone, with the city lights flickering. It's a place where you'd want to stay forever. Thank you for the meal!
