I made a reservation two weeks ago for a Saturday night visit! The restaurant was fully booked! Selected as one of the top 100 restaurants in 2022! Food rating on Tabelog is 3.72, so my expectations were high! Here is what we ordered: 1. Assorted sashimi (forgot to take a photo): octopus, squid, amberjack, sea bream, medium fatty tuna, lean tuna, and seared yellowtail. 2. Homemade kelp-marinated mentaiko (half portion). 3. Grilled wild yellowtail (small portion). 4. Grilled local bluefin tuna collar. 5. Conger eel tempura. 6. Aji (horse mackerel) tea pickles from Goto. 7. Jako (dried young sardines) rice ball. Every dish was incredibly delicious! The sashimi was particularly fresh!! The grilled bluefin tuna collar was fatty and tender, just melting in the mouth! The tempura of local conger eel was large and had no fishy smell, very satisfying to eat! Everything we ordered was a hit!! It was so delicious! Thank you for the feast!

I recommend making a reservation for a restaurant you want to visit in Hakata. When I used to live in Fukuoka, I often went to a restaurant after work, and I recently visited it again after a long time. The fish and meat here are all delicious. The sashimi assortment, simmered red tilefish (market price), burdock chips, and recommended grilled fish head are all very satisfying. The quality of the appetizers is also high, so I really enjoyed it. I would like to visit again when I go to Hakata. Thank you for the meal.

As soon as the store opened on a regular day, we entered, of course, reservations are required. There were three of us today, so I wonder if we can order a variety of dishes. The portion of one dish is large, so it's just right to share with 3 or 4 people. We ordered grilled hamachi with salt, a sashimi assortment for two, and 100g of Saga beef. The sashimi was served with three slices each, and the beef was tender and delicious. The grilled hamachi had plenty of meat because the fish itself was large, and it was satisfying with just the right amount of salt. Although the price is reasonable, the taste, volume, and service were all excellent. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

The only restaurant I made a reservation for during my trip to Hakata. I couldn't order just squid, they said. But it was okay if it was a sashimi platter. Since I couldn't have squid, I asked for sesame mackerel, but there was no mackerel, so it became horse mackerel. I had yellowtail sashimi and grilled amberjack. The sesame horse mackerel was easier to eat as it had less of a strong taste (laughs). But I still prefer the sesame mackerel. The yellowtail sashimi was refreshing. The grilled amberjack recommended was small, less than half. I had it with Japanese sake. The chef seemed very busy as he was the only one working.

The sashimi was delicious, but the grilled fish (red snapper) was incredibly tasty. The crispy skin with just the right amount of salt and the fatty flesh were amazing! I was able to choose my sake cup and enjoyed three different local sakes from Fukuoka, all of which were delicious. The tai chazuke at the end was luxurious with plenty of tai fish. The owner (?) was very kind, and it was a warm and lovely restaurant experience!

The atmosphere inside the restaurant is busy and quite noisy, so it may not be suitable for those looking for a quiet meal. It's perfect for a lively dining experience! We ordered a variety of dishes including sashimi, tempura, grilled dishes, rice bowls, and soup. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, with a nice texture. The tempura was also well done! This was my first time visiting. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building near Hakata Station. We sat in the private room at the back and enjoyed a toast with beer. I went to a popular izakaya with a hundred shops! I had octopus salad, sashimi platter, and some meat dishes. They were all delicious! I wanted to try more dishes, but I was already full. I will definitely go back next time!

Today, I went to the restaurant "TaroGen" which stays open until midnight, even though I finished work late. It's a popular spot near Hakata Station, about a 3-minute walk away. I ordered a sashimi platter, 150g of meat, and a octopus salad - all of which were delicious! To finish off, I had a small rice ball with small fish and miso soup. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Arrived relatively late in Hakata. Tried to make a reservation by phone before moving, but was told they were full. Ended up on a waiting list. Received a call while on the train, and luckily got to the restaurant at a good time. The staff was very lively, and I was a bit worried when I walked in and was seated at the counter. Started with a highball to calm my nerves. Ordered a sashimi platter and homemade mentaiko. The complimentary tofu was surprisingly delicious. The dishes arrived promptly. The sashimi platter had 7 varieties, topped with sea grapes which was a nice touch. Honestly, it was really delicious, especially the squid. Ended up ordering 2 highballs and the bill came to 3000 yen. They even gave a complimentary highball. Great quality at this price, it was amazing.

My wife and I finally got a reservation at the famous Taro Gen in Hakata, which is known for its delicious nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch). We started with the recommended sashimi platter, followed by a tempura assortment. Then we had the grilled nodoguro. We wanted to order the tiger pufferfish shirako, but it was sold out, even though we arrived at 7 pm. We'll have to try again next time! Lastly, we enjoyed Saga beef steak. ★Unfortunately, when I went to Fukuoka, I had trouble finding dinner and decided to visit this restaurant with good reviews. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building, not very spacious with a few seats at the counter and 4 tables in the tatami room. I was seated in the tatami room, but there were food spills under the tables, and when I tried to clean it up, the staff ignored it. In other tatami rooms, large groups were making a lot of noise, making it very uncomfortable and difficult to enjoy the meal. Additionally, there were few items on the menu, and even items listed were unavailable because it was not the right season. It would be helpful if they indicated that clearly on the menu. Despite ordering from the limited menu, none of the dishes were satisfying. How could this place be selected as one of the top 100 restaurants? It was a huge disappointment, as the only positive thing was the good reviews.

This time I visited the restaurant alone after about 5 years. The owner is healthy and active, and the lively atmosphere inside the restaurant remains the same. I enjoyed sashimi, grilled rockfish, tempura, tofu salad, along with beer and sake. The owner adjusted the portion size for the grilled rockfish and tempura for one person, and despite being busy, he took care of me. I was very satisfied this time as well and I want to visit this restaurant again.

The food in Hakata is always a hit! Yesterday's dinner near the hotel was also a big hit. Looking at the menu, it seemed like a high-end restaurant. They mentioned that all dishes except for the simmered fish are for one person, so feel free to ask for more. The quality of the carefully selected ingredients from various regions was excellent. I had a bottle of sake for just 10,000 yen. I was worried about the extra charge for dining alone, but the chef kindly cut the bill to 10,000 yen. The chef was very busy, but he still thanked me for dining alone. The grilled dishes I had, such as the grilled fatty tuna and the grilled red tilefish from Tsushima, were incredibly delicious. On this day staying in Hakata, I visited a popular izakaya called "Taro Gen" near the hotel. The restaurant is located on the basement floor of Tanaka Building, close to Hakata Station. I made a reservation in advance as it seemed difficult to get in as a walk-in, and arrived around 6 pm. As I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter. The menu showcased a selection of fresh seafood, with fish sourced from Genkai and Goto, so I couldn't resist ordering sashimi. I started with a glass of Asahi Super Dry draft beer and the "Chef's selection sashimi platter (for one person)" priced at 2300 yen. While waiting for the sashimi, I enjoyed a side dish of seaweed and tofu with a soy-based sauce, which was delicious. The restaurant was bustling with customers, and the kitchen was managed by the owner alone. The sashimi platter was beautifully presented with a variety of fish including bluefin tuna, squid, mackerel from Goto, octopus, horse mackerel, flatfish, yellowtail from Goto, red tuna, and sea bream from Kanazaki. Each piece was fresh and flavorful, with the mackerel from Goto standing out for its melt-in-your-mouth texture. I also ordered a sweet potato shochu from Kagoshima and a local sake called "Shimajin" to accompany the sashimi. The tempura dish of shrimp and seasonal vegetables was also a delight, with crispy batter and a flavorful dipping sauce. Overall, the combination of delicious fish and great drinks made for a fantastic dining experience in Hakata.
