New Okubo Station is right there. Every time I pass by, I've been curious and finally visited for the first time this time. 16:20, no previous customers, 3 customers behind me. There are options for dining in or takeout. I decided to try the curry with pork cutlet that I've been curious about. The restaurant only has a counter. I purchased a meal ticket from the vending machine and handed it over. The staff member was cheerful and attentive. Are you Japanese? I couldn't help but ask, and the staff member laughed and said, "Not at all, I'm Indian." "Which part of India are you from?" "New Delhi." "So you're a Delhi man." "Yes." It was obvious from his appearance that he was Indian, but I was the only one who asked. I thought it would be more interesting to ask if he was Indian rather than just assuming. Sorry! Somehow being a Delhi man seems special, haha. The staff member quickly put the breaded pork cutlet in the oil. He mixed the curry sauce in the pot well. He brought the rice, placed the cutlet on top, and poured the curry sauce evenly over it. It smelled delicious! He served pickled radish and pickled vegetables (which were available on the table). There are glasses and a cold water pot on the table. I'll write "curry with pork cutlet," but what's important is that the pork cutlet is delicious, the curry is delicious, and they are well-balanced. Some restaurants may have one that tastes better than the other, or even if both are delicious, they may not be well-balanced. As for the curry here, it had chunky ingredients and a gravy-like texture. The spiciness hits the upper palate at first, followed by sweetness. The vegetables added a refreshing richness, with the spiciness coming first and a mild sweetness following. The curry had a subtle amount of spices, making it a Japanese-style curry. My preference is for the rice to be slightly firm and have a warm, slightly dry texture. The pork cutlet was moderately thick, flavorful, and tender. It was cooked well, but the breading absorbed the curry sauce and became soggy. Also, there was a lot of oil, and the oil had a distinct taste, which may be due to the issue with the breading. After the meal, I enjoyed the curry sauce so I would like to try other menu items next time. The curry sauce was to my liking, but I wonder if lard is used in the oil. It's good to have fresh oil. The prices for toppings were slightly different from those on the food review site and the website. The pork cutlet topping was 250 yen, which was a good deal compared to the fried eggplant. The Indian staff member had a lovely smile and was a hard worker, making the dining experience wonderful. There is also a takeout option. The outdoor sign is written in several languages, showing the diversity of the area around New Okubo Station.
