The Myanmar restaurant owner's menu is diverse. The Khao Man Gai I had today came with jasmine rice, soup, salad, and cold tofu. The salad was mediocre, but the Khao Man Gai was delicious. I look forward to trying a different menu item next time.

I always rely on this restaurant for lunch. The food here is so good that I often can't eat much for dinner afterwards because of the great value for money. Everything is made with domestic vegetables and homemade ingredients, and it's very delicious. The owner used to be a chef at the Swedish Embassy in Japan, so the dishes have a rich international flair and a wide repertoire, all tailored to suit Japanese tastes. Today's miso soup was especially delicious, and when I asked, I found out that they had ordered red miso from Nagoya to make it. Isn't that amazing! The best thing about this place is the abundance of vegetables. You can get your daily intake of vegetables here. Once you try it, you'll want to come back for the taste. The curry today was also very delicious, and it's interesting that they change the menu every Monday. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Visit date and time: Weekday 11:30-12:10 Weather: Rain I visited for lunch. There were no customers when I arrived, but more people started coming in. It seems like there are many regular customers. The owner was working alone but efficiently. They also offer takeout bento boxes. The menu changes weekly, and they post it on their Instagram, so you can check it in advance. I had the Grilled Chicken with Tomato Sauce and Cheese for 850 yen. The fact that they use ancient rice for the rice is nice. They seem to be particular about the dressing they make. On weekdays, they offer complimentary coffee, so I had an iced coffee. They also gave me crackers as a bonus. Overall, it's a very cost-effective lunch. They also have free Wi-Fi.

The manager is very kind. It's a cozy hidden gem where I feel excited enough to visit every day. Honestly, I want to keep it as my secret place. By the way, the wifi was free.

The manager is from Yangon and trained in Marunouchi. I ordered the daily lunch special, which was very well-prepared and delicious overall. It's interesting to have Myanmar-born manager making Japanese food. The atmosphere is relaxing and feels like a cafe where you can unwind. I heard they also serve Southeast Asian cuisine, so I would like to try that as well.

This week's lunch was Chicken Tomato Stew, Southern Island Style for 800 yen. The interior of the restaurant has a slightly unusual L-shaped layout. As you enter, there is a tatami seating area on the left where about 7 people can sit, and on the right, there are 2-person tables and a counter with 3 seats. Further back on the right is the kitchen, with 4-person table seating and a counter with 4 seats. The owner runs the restaurant alone. Even though it was Thursday, the lunch menu is only available on Mondays and Fridays. There were other options like curry and Gapao rice, but the Chicken Tomato Stew looked delicious, so I ordered it. It arrived promptly. The meal included Chicken Tomato Stew, lettuce and watercress salad, pumpkin and spinach side dish, Wakame seaweed soup, and ancient rice. As a bonus, they also gave a small pancake-like dessert. The Chicken Tomato Stew had coconut milk in it, giving it a slightly unique flavor, but it was not a big issue. The chicken was a bit dry since it was breast meat. Overall, the menu was well-balanced and healthy, and the complimentary dessert was a nice touch.

There is a Myanmar cuisine cafe near Mukohara Station on the Toden Arakawa Line that seems to have opened recently. The interior is beautiful and they serve lunch until 4:00 PM, which seems convenient. I had the summer curry, which was surprisingly light and delicious, unlike the greasy image I had of Myanmar curry. There are still many items on the menu that I would like to explore gradually.

The restaurant is located about a 3-minute walk from Mukohara Station on the Toden Arakawa Line, along Kasuga Street. The shop is long and narrow, with raised seating on the left, table and counter seating on the right, and additional seating in the back. It appears to be run by a young couple or possibly a young man and woman from overseas. There are 11 lunch menu options, priced at ¥800 on weekdays and a flat rate of ¥1,000 on holidays including a drink and mini dessert. I chose the special lunch of beef shabu-shabu with grated daikon and ponzu sauce, along with a hot tea. The meal consisted of a plate divided into four sections: fresh vegetables dressed with a tangy carrot dressing, grilled sweet potato, bell pepper, carrot, white sesame dressed with chives, and a curry-flavored carrot and daikon salad. Boiled beef topped with plenty of grated daikon and ponzu sauce, and a consommé soup with lotus root and burdock. The rice was made with ancient rice from Niigata Prefecture, slightly soft but generous in portion. To finish, I enjoyed a cup of tea and a bite-sized cake, which was a nice palate cleanser. Lunch is served until 4 pm, and they also offer bento boxes, making it a convenient choice.

This restaurant opened on March 21, 2017. Previously, it was a tonkatsu-only restaurant. The interior has been renovated and looks cleaner now, although the menu remains the same. It appears to be run by two foreigners. There is a counter and one table for four at the back. Today's lunch specials include Mapo Tofu, San Yang Ramen, and Beef and Tomato Curry. I ordered the Beef and Tomato Curry based on a recommendation from a colleague who tried it shortly after the opening and said it was delicious. The lunch set includes soup, curry, salad, spaghetti, and Niigata ancient rice (refills allowed). The curry was slightly spicy and very tasty, and the salad dressing had a unique and flavorful taste. They also offer bento box lunches for takeout, with three options available for 600 yen. The restaurant is located on the left side of Kasuga Street, heading towards Ikebukuro from Shin-Otsuka Station. The Shin-Otsuka area has fewer bento shops and even McDonald's, so it can get crowded during lunchtime, but this place is a hidden gem.
