Established in Meiji 28, this confectionery wholesaler produces a popular snack brand. While their karinto (deep-fried dough cookies) are a hit at Tokyo Station's Gransta, the main store is tucked away in a building off the main street in Ko Denmamachi. In addition to karinto, they also sell senbei (rice crackers), castella (sponge cake), and gift wrapping. This time, we tried their senbei, specifically the "Edo Yutaka." The size of each piece was decently large, and it was unexpectedly soft with a crispy, rather than crunchy, texture. When you bite into it, it has a pleasant mouthfeel and a refined flavor of soy sauce-infused karinto, reminiscent of kabuki theater. It was delicious.

I think the famous fried senbei shop in Kawasaki is the most delicious, but this one was also light and delicious, with the nori (seaweed) being particularly tasty. A regular pack and a salt pack cost 1,080 yen each (they said they will raise the price starting from June), with 3 pieces (individually packaged with a drying agent) in each pack, and a total of 8 packs.

While walking around the Nihonbashi area, I happened to pass by the main store of that popular karintou shop that had a long line when it first opened at Tokyo Station. Intrigued by the banana castella sign, I decided to go inside. They only sold castella in packs of 8, so I looked around the store and made my choice. I ended up getting the "Milled Rice with Plenty of Sesame" for 378 yen, which consisted of rice crackers topped with white and black sesame seeds, perfect for sesame lovers. I also bought the "Japanese-style Dashi-Flavored Karintou" for 370 yen, which had a strong dashi flavor and a slightly sweet and salty taste due to the sugar coating. Overall, the store had a variety of unique snacks like Fuji Mountain senbei and seafood senbei available for online purchase, which I found interesting and satisfying.

Another unique snack arrived in the mail, and it didn't have anything written on the bag so I had no idea what kind of snack it was. I was about to give up when I heard someone in the distance say "Mount Fuji?" and when I looked it up, there it was - "Mount Fuji Senbei". I just searched for it, but okay, I'll gladly try it. The yellow one is curry flavor, right...? Wait, when I looked it up, it's actually "Turmeric". Is it okay to call it curry instead...? Will people be happier if I say it's turmeric...? Well, my own assumptions don't really matter. The texture is crispy and the turmeric flavor is delicious.

At the karinto shop, there is a delicious treat that is not karinto - Almond Scotch! It is so tasty that it makes you drool. There are three flavors: plain, almond, and orange. Buy all three and enjoy them in a loop: orange, almond, plain, then repeat. It's addictive!

I was drawn to the visually striking black appearance of the fried soy sauce rice crackers at Fukushima-ya in Ark Hills, so I decided to purchase them. These are not your typical baked soy sauce rice crackers, but rather fried ones, which is a unique twist. The combination of seaweed and fried rice crackers gives the feeling of eating mochi wrapped in seaweed, which is quite enjoyable. Each pack contains three individually wrapped rice crackers with a desiccant to prevent moisture, ensuring freshness. However, the price is a bit on the higher side.

First visit in April 2021 (No.2613) On that day, I went around Bakurocho to gather material for my work, so I visited this shop to gather some inspiration. This is a brand of sweets produced by Marui Suzuki, a confectionery wholesaler founded in 1895 (Meiji 28) in Nihonbashi-Koamicho. I remember receiving products from the store at Gransta Tokyo quite a while ago, but the taste memory is fuzzy... (+o+) Tomato Cheese Flavor for 380 yen. It's a limited-time product. I bought the above product. It's a creative karinto snack with the acidity of tomatoes and the aroma of cheese, but should it be paired with alcohol or used as a tea snack? It's a bit of a confusing product (;´Д`) Thank you for the meal.

This is a shop tucked away in a back alley that sells traditional karinto (Japanese fried dough snacks). I stumbled upon it while looking for a place to have lunch nearby. The shop had a variety of stylish karinto, but I chose to buy the classic black karinto. It was a satisfying and delicious snack.

Next to the Dekamori coffee shop "Endless" in Azabu-juban, there is a stylish Japanese confectionery shop. The area behind the shop is currently under redevelopment, with an old building being demolished. Inside the shop, there is a beautiful showcase displaying their main products such as karinto and okaki. They also offer some Western sweets like Baumkuchen. I received a pack of their "Ume Zarame" karinto from my company. Unlike traditional karinto which is heavy and overly sweet due to oil, this one is light and crispy with a subtle plum flavor. The pack contains a decent amount but surprisingly only has 268 kcal. It seems to be lower in calories than one would expect.

Recently, due to the increase in remote work from home, there are times when I have to go out for meetings or business trips, and even though it's just work, my colleagues always ask for souvenirs that are beautiful. So, near the meeting power lunch spot in Kodenmacho, I bought chocolate karinto at a store called Karintoya. The chocolate karinto has a moist texture and is delicious in its own way!

When going out, I wanted to buy some souvenirs. The place is Tokyo Station. I did some research online and found that there are many souvenir options at Tokyo Station. However, it is hard to find something that everyone will be happy with. One place that caught my attention is a shop in Gransta that sells karinto (a type of sweet snack). I remembered hearing the name somewhere before. Upon further investigation, I found out that the main store is located in Kodenmacho. This is near Endo Re's and 37 Burger! I can stop by here for lunch and then visit the shop. I visited the shop on another day after having lunch. It is still a new shop. While the main focus is on karinto, the main store also sells senbei (rice crackers) and castella (sponge cake). However, the shop at Tokyo Station specializes in karinto, so I wanted to try and buy some. The karinto comes in small bags that fit in the palm of your hand, with prices starting from around 350 yen. The shop also offers boxes and wrapping cloths, making the presentation enjoyable. I purchased the popular items, kinpira gobou and vegetable karinto, one of each. It cost me 700 yen. I brought them home to taste. The kinpira gobou had a slight spicy kick and a strong gobou (burdock root) flavor. It wasn't extremely delicious, but once I started eating, I couldn't stop. The vegetable karinto was colorful with a variety of flavors - slightly sweet, salty, and savory. It was quite interesting. Although I used to have a slightly old-fashioned image of karinto, these modernized versions of the snack were impressive. I will consider these as souvenirs for my next visit.

It seems like a traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Nihonbashi. Based on reviews and official information, it appears that they are famous for their karintou (deep-fried sweet snack). I purchased a snack called "Savory Shrimp Senbei" this time. The package mentioned the savory flavor of shrimp, and it was true. The rich flavor of shrimp spreads gently in your mouth. However, it is a bit oily, so I tried blotting some oil and found it even more delicious. The level of saltiness is just right, making it a snack that you can easily get hooked on.

In Tokyo Station Gransta, the popular snack is karinto, which has been thriving for a long time. The main store is located in a quiet area in Kodenmacho, where you can leisurely shop. While karinto may not be the healthiest snack, flavors like kinpira gobou, focusing on vegetables, are popular. When you bring it as a souvenir, people are so happy that you might wonder if it's really that appreciated. In terms of popularity, Tokyo Station seems to be the right place for it.

If you're in Iwamotocho or Bakurocho and looking for souvenirs, try the light and delicious karinto at Nihonbashi Kinhorin Honpo. Most bags of karinto are around 300 yen each, so you can get 2-3 bags for around 1000 yen. These karinto are not the hard and crunchy kind, but rather light and crispy. They come in unique flavors like purple sweet potato and kinpira gobou, making it a fun gift to give. And of course, they taste delicious. Just a heads up, their dessert items are mostly rated at 3.5 stars.

A wide variety of karinto snacks! The limited edition chocolate-covered kinpira gobou karinto was delicious! I hope they bring it back again. They have individually wrapped karinto snacks and packs of 3 in a gift wrapping, making it convenient to try different flavors. The Scotch flavors (coffee, orange, plain) are also delicious. It was a rainy day, so I got a lot of stamps and it was a good deal.

I entered the store in the morning. I came to look for a return gift after receiving a small item from an acquaintance the other day. When I left home, I was planning to go to Solamachi in Oshiage, but I noticed that there is a store in Kodenmacho Main Store on the Shinjuku Line. I got off at Bakuro-yokoyama and walked towards JR Bakurocho Station. Today, I bought three types of almond scotch with 6 pieces of Edo Toyu included for 2028 yen. The almond scotch comes in plain, coffee, and orange flavors, each in 100g packaging. It seems like they are sold at the main store and Ikspiari. They don't have it at Solamachi. It's a product I wanted to buy for a while. I bought it considering for myself as well. I will use the plain one as a return gift. Edo Toyu is a large size type suitable for giving to Kabuki actors, with individually wrapped pieces. But I like to eat it as my snack. When I gave it to my mother this time, she said it was too oily. Our tastes in food don't match. I think this flavor is really good though. I ate the orange-flavored almond scotch. It has a candy-like hardness with the scent of orange peel spreading. Gradually, the presence of almonds becomes apparent. It doesn't become hard and crunchy right away. The orange flavor may be divisive. I haven't tried the coffee flavor yet. But the combination of almonds and coffee candy is sure to be good. I'm looking forward to it. At the main store, there were solid color furoshiki for souvenir wrapping purposes. There were also non-woven fabric drawstring types, which were cute. They seem to be suitable for giving as karinto. The store name was revealed in Roman letters on the paper bag they gave me when I made a purchase, "Nishiki Hourin." I'm curious about the seaweed senbei and purple sweet potato karinto.

The rice crackers were slightly larger, slightly sweet, not too hard, with a pleasant taste and good texture. They were delicious. 12 pieces for 1000 yen.
