While exploring Kichijoji, I took a break at Kichijoji Tokyu. I had always been curious about it but had never entered before. Luckily, I was able to enter without waiting this time. I ordered the Jelly Marriage, which is coffee jelly with a lot of ice cream. I saw someone sitting next to me eating it and it made me want to try it. I received a drink ticket last time, so this is my second visit. I had a cocoa float (using the ticket) and hotcakes (with honey). The hotcakes had a crispy outside and a fluffy inside, a classic and delicious choice!

I visited this place after seeing the pages of my senior colleagues (Mama-san, Karguchi-san) and thought I would like to visit here someday. I came today as the typhoon approached, and surely it was not crowded. I couldn't decide between cakes, jellies, or puddings, but I ended up ordering a milk crepe and a cafe au lait. The milk crepe was definitely the right choice. I liked the coffee cream sandwiched inside. I really enjoy this kind of flavor. The cafe au lait was easy to drink and went well with the milk crepe. Located on the 3rd floor of Kichijoji Tokyu. I went there before 3 pm on a weekday. I was seated promptly. The majority of customers were female. I ordered the seasonal lemon French toast with an iced café au lait set. I chose the café au lait with added sugar. The drink could be ordered together with the meal. The French toast was fluffy and delicious! The vanilla ice cream added just the right amount of sweetness to the lemon. The lemon wasn't too sour, so it was delicious and easy to eat. The lemonade syrup had a subtle lemon flavor, but the dish was tasty even without it. I enjoyed dipping the toast in the syrup for a change of taste. The café au lait was also delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxing with many leisurely customers.

While shopping at Tokyu, I got thirsty and headed to Marufuku Coffee on the 3rd floor. They opened at 10 am and I was the only customer, so the lighting was dim and quiet, which was quite calming. They had coffee jelly only and jelly with ice cream options. Since it was hot, I chose the one with ice cream without hesitation. I also ordered a hot blended coffee in case I needed something warm. I was surprised by the amount of ice cream, it was a huge portion. I wasn't sure if I could finish it, but it had a mild sweetness with a rich flavor, and the coffee jelly added a nice texture variation. I finished it in no time. The coffee was strong and bitter, which I enjoyed as an espresso lover. I could drink it as is, but the thick cream that came with it changed the flavor significantly when added. It was incredibly delicious. On another day, I tried the blueberry yogurt cake and tea. The cake was refreshing with fresh blueberries and mint. The tea was a bit light for my taste, I prefer it a bit stronger. Kichijoji can get crowded even on weekdays, so if you want a quiet place to take a break, I recommend this place.

On weekends, all restaurants in Kichijoji have long lines. At times like this, head to the 3rd floor of Tokyu Department Store. There are unique shops such as bakeries, miscellaneous goods stores, clothing stores, select shops, and restaurants, and surprisingly, it's not crowded. This is a hidden gem. And everything is delicious. This time, I went to Marufuku Coffee Shop. They have lunch sets with options like curry and sandwiches. We were seated at a table for two with hardly any wait. I chose the black curry from the several curry options. The Marufuku curry and hashed beef rice also looked delicious. When you order a set, it comes with salad and a drink. The black curry set costs 1,390 yen. It contains fruits and beef, so it's sweet and spicy. I opted for iced coffee. The staff asked, "Would you like it sweetened or unsweetened?" I chose unsweetened. Later, I found out that they use coffee beans specifically for iced coffee and add sugar when it's hot. The iced coffee with sugar also looked delicious. First, they brought out the salad. It was a simple salad with lettuce and cherry tomatoes, but the corn dressing was delicious! The sweetness of the corn stood out, making it refreshing. And then the curry. It wasn't too black, had a rich flavor, and the beef was tender. The onions and fruits melted into the curry. It was very tender and melted in the mouth. Delicious! It also came with three pickled shallots, which was a nice touch. The rice was also tasty. Although it wasn't on the menu, they also served cream cheese ice cream. That was delicious too. I enjoyed it with coffee, having a leisurely lunchtime. The atmosphere in the restaurant is calming. The sandwiches and cakes also looked delicious. A satisfying lunch. They opened as a Western-style restaurant in 1934. The retro menu and ambiance are nice. Next to the restaurant, they sell dressings and coffee beans. I ended up buying the corn dressing. Next time, I might try the hot coffee and Marufuku curry.

I was able to take a leisurely break and have a meeting. There seem to be various selling points, but it didn't seem particularly good to me. It was a bit pricey for what it was, but the relaxed atmosphere inside was really nice. I would like to go back when I want to have a leisurely meeting.

I had the image that it was going to be a certain type of place (sorry...), but when I entered, I was surprised to find that it was actually deep and spacious inside. They were still serving breakfast, so I ordered the Morning Set C (hotcakes + maple syrup + black tea) for 720 yen. They mentioned that it would take about ten minutes to cook. That was fine, but I was a bit surprised that it took 10 minutes to bring the water. Maybe they were hiding in the back and forgot (lol). The hotcakes arrived in about 15 minutes. They were like the perfect picture-perfect hotcakes. Just looking at them made me feel happy. They were about 10 cm in diameter. Butter was served on the side, and you could choose between honey or maple syrup. By the way, I prefer maple syrup on my hotcakes. When I cut into them, the yellow color looked vibrant. Maybe they used more eggs. They were not as sweet as the ones I make at home, but that was fine. I had a few bites without anything on them, then I added butter and syrup. In May 2022, I visited a cafe called Marufuku Coffee located on the 3rd floor of Tokyu Department Store. The cafe is hidden in a corner, making it hard to notice from the retail section. Despite passing by many times, I never realized how spacious the cafe was until I saw elderly ladies heading inside. I decided to give it a try and was surprised by the size of the cafe space. I ordered the recommended Clubhouse Sandwich set with a drink, which came with a mini pudding as well. The sandwich was huge with thick bacon slices, tomatoes, lettuce, and egg, all beautifully presented. The lemon served on the side turned out to be a great addition to cut through the richness of the bacon. The coffee was also delicious, and the mini pudding was a delightful surprise with its classic texture and subtle sweetness. Overall, I was impressed by the quality of the food and the friendly service at this cafe. I would love to visit again and explore more of the cafes on this floor.

Blend Coffee: My wife came out to Kichijoji at lunchtime, so we looked for a shop where we could put the stroller and went in. This shop has an atmosphere that seems to be popular among Kichijoji ladies. The coffee has a weighty feel, and you can fully enjoy the richness rather than the acidity. Personally, I prefer the coffee here. My wife ordered hotcakes, but she had to go back to work, so I just had the coffee and left.

I didn't know there was a Marufuku Coffee Shop in Kichijoji! I took a break after shopping. The coffee roll I was looking for was sold out, so I went for the Marufuku Anniversary Hotcake Plate instead. It came with a commemorative logo. I hope to try the coffee roll next time.

I didn't know that I could find Marufuku Coffee outside of Haneda Airport, but I discovered one in the Tokyu Department Store in Kichijoji. Unfortunately, they were out of the Mont Blanc cake that I wanted to try, as it was already sold out. We had to wait in line for a table, and there were three groups ahead of us. The seating was limited, so we had to wait for a while. I considered getting gelato from the shop across the way, but my husband convinced me to stick with Marufuku. We ordered the chiffon cake and iced cafe au lait set, as well as hotcakes and Americano (iced). The drinks were reliably delicious since it was from Marufuku. The chiffon cake had a light and fluffy cream layer. I personally prefer a slightly more bitter caramelization. The hotcakes were crispy on the edges and tasty. Each cake was around 650 yen, so the cost performance wasn't the best, but it was more about the atmosphere. Overall, it was a nice dining experience.

During teatime on a visit during a holiday, most cakes were sold out... so I opted for this limited-time dessert plate. It had a fall-like menu. The sweet potato chips were unexpectedly delicious and I finished them in no time. It's been a while since I had something this tasty! The castella cake had a nice texture and a moist batter with just the right amount of sweetness. It's a Nagasaki castella cake. The pudding looked firm at first, but it was actually quite soft and smooth. Very delicious! The caramel part was light, which I personally liked because it wasn't too bitter. Many people were ordering just the pudding. I really liked it! I usually drink café au lait, so I had that as usual. Overall, the desserts here seem to be delicious. I tried the Coffee Smoothie (460 yen tax included), a summer item. It took some time to prepare, but the taste was surprisingly authentic. It had a deep coffee flavor with a hint of bitterness that lingered. On top of the smoothie was whipped cream and crushed coffee beans, which added smoothness and richness to the drink. Highly recommended.

In search of delicious cakes, I came back to this place. This is also a favorite spot for my friend. It is a coffee shop originating from Osaka, with an elegant atmosphere. I visited for the first time at night, and it was surprisingly quiet, a hidden gem. This time, I ordered the matcha Mont Blanc with cafe au lait. The cake was delicious from the first bite! The Mont Blanc part was smooth and rich, with a refreshing cream. The apricot jelly inside added a nice touch. The tart base was crispy and moist. The custard cream and red bean matched well, making it a matcha Mont Blanc with plenty of filling! I really enjoyed it ⭐️ The cakes change depending on the season, so it's always exciting. After lunch, I came back to this café for coffee☕️ This time, I had the Mont Blanc which I previously enjoyed at the Ginza branch. The chestnut flavor was very rich! Inside, there were chestnuts, whipped cream, and sponge cake. My friend ordered a berry cake (I forgot the name) with a rich and tangy mousse, it was a delicious and refreshing cake! I am inside Tokyu Kichijoji Store on the 3rd floor. I often go alone, so I'm happy that there are table seats where I can relax since there are no counter seats. This time, I used it for lunch for the first time. It was a set with a drink and a mini salad, with 4 types of lunch. I chose the curry set. The curry is simple with only beef as solid ingredients in it. The other ingredients are cooked until they lose their shape, so it's a very clean and clear curry. The taste is rich and delicious. The large piece of beef in it is cooked until it's soft enough to be easily cut with a spoon. When you install the app for Marufuku Coffee Shop, you can get a complimentary pudding, so I installed it right away. It was lucky, and the pudding was also very delicious, making me very happy. The coffee is a rich dark roast, and personally, I prefer a slightly lighter taste, so there is a slight mismatch in taste preferences, but overall, it was a very satisfying lunchtime.

I visited the Ginza store before and the cake was very delicious, so this time I went to the Kichijoji store. Here, I ordered a cake set for 1080 yen, which includes a cake and a drink. I ordered a slice of shortcake and a cafe au lait. The size was just right, the strawberries were sweet, the cream was not too sweet, and it was easy to eat and delicious. The blueberry rare cheesecake was also very moist and rich, and delicious. The cafe au lait was very strong and bitter. There is a wide variety of cake options and also menu items for meals.
