さぴお
Hello, this is Sappio. Today I would like to introduce "Engine", a small standing noodle shop where you can enjoy a hearty oil soba with well-mixed sauce. It is located near Daitabashi Station on the Keio Line. Despite being a shop specializing in oil soba, I had been putting off visiting until now, but it seems to have quite a good reputation. So, I decided to visit. The shop is located a few minutes south of Daitabashi Station. It is a small and narrow shop that can accommodate only 3-4 people standing. There are no chairs, so it is a standing-only style shop. If you sit in the back and another customer comes in, it might be difficult to leave... Luckily, there were no other guests during my visit, so leaving was smooth. The menu consists of various oil soba dishes such as "Engine Oil Soba", "Rich Oil Soba", and "Ice-cold Oil Soba". Since it was my first visit, I chose the "Engine Oil Soba". The portion size was a bit small at 360g, so I wish they had a larger option like a 3-serving "King Size". The noodles were boiled perfectly for 4 minutes. The chashu was grilled well on the burner. Once the noodles were mixed thoroughly, the dish was served promptly. First, the soup that comes with the oil soba was served, followed by the main dish. When I first looked at the dish, I noticed that the sauce was mixed well with the noodles. The noodles were thick and curly, with a chewy and firm texture. They were cooked perfectly and coated evenly with the sauce, without any excess sauce at the bottom of the bowl. The noodles had a slightly firm and chewy texture, with a strong presence. The sauce was a combination of soy sauce and oil, creating a thick and sticky texture. Although the flavor was a bit monotonous, it was delicious with a strong impact. The toppings included grilled chashu, kaiware, menma, seaweed, and naruto. Adding something like a savory sauce or seasoning would have enhanced the overall flavor. The grilled chashu was exceptionally tasty. Despite the small portion, I finished it quickly. You order verbally and pay at the counter. When leaving, they asked if it was my first time there and gave me a stamp card. After 5 visits, you get a free bowl of noodles, which is a good deal. Since it's close by, I will definitely visit at least 5 more times. Thank you for the meal.
