Thank you for viewing. I visited "Sushi Asami," one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog, with a Michelin plate. The location is a 2-minute walk from Heiwa-dori Station and an 8-minute walk from Kokura Station, located in a shopping street. This is a 5-seat counter restaurant opened by Kiyokazu Asami, the second generation of "Sushi Senzou," a long-established restaurant in Moji that has been around for about 50 years. Each sushi dish has been carefully crafted, with different parts of the same ingredient, different combinations of two ingredients, or different charms layered in one dish. The service from the chef and the female owner was very polite and made for a comfortable experience. The dishes I had that day included "Yariika no Akamutsu maki," "Higanfugu ankimo ae," "Yokowa no Engawa," "Watarigani, miso to uchiko," "Nodoguro no mushi sushi, kuro shichimi," and various nigiri sushi. It was a very enjoyable time, and I look forward to visiting again in a different season. Thank you for the meal.

I visited for the first time. All the dishes were very delicious. The owner's work was very meticulous. The entire restaurant had a very clean feeling and was very pleasant. The dinner course was 19,000 yen only. We had a total of 19 dishes including dessert and 3 drinks, and it cost around 40,000 yen for two people. It seems like you could also order additional sushi, but we were already quite full. Another restaurant to add to the list of places I want to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Sushi lunch in Ogura Uomachi. This shop has moved from Moji to Ogura. Ogura is also becoming a high-level sushi restaurant area like Hakata. The prices are very reasonable, which is great. The sake is spring sake, and the nigiri sushi, including local tuna and nori rolls, are superb. Among the sushi restaurants in Ogura, this shop stands out for its overall high quality.

I visited to celebrate my wife's discharge from the hospital. The counter had about 6 seats. Each piece of sushi was carefully prepared, with flavors such as citrus, salt, and vinegar that complemented the sushi well. Delicious, that's the word. The selection of drinks was also great, and after enjoying a few recommended drinks, I left feeling good. It's only been a few days, but I already want to go back. Highly recommended restaurant.

The service is polite and welcoming, despite the initial tension. We tried the lunch sushi course, which featured a perfect balance of seafood flavors and mildly vinegared rice. The sushi, especially the seared sardine and cutlassfish, creamy blowfish milt, and chewy giant clam, were all exceptional. The negitoro roll with freshly chopped green onions was a refreshing delight. They also offer high-quality non-sushi dishes like red tilefish and anglerfish liver. Located on Ogura Heiwa Street, "Sushi Asami" is a small sushi restaurant with only 5 counter seats. The elegant atmosphere and attention to detail, even down to the placement of smartphones, impressed me. The sushi, expertly crafted by the owner right in front of us, was like a work of art. Each piece brought out the true flavors of the ingredients, especially the tuna belly, tiger puffer fish milt, and cured mackerel, which all had unique and delicious tastes. As the course came to an end, we chatted with the owner and his wife, who were both very warm and provided excellent service. My parents were delighted, and I was grateful for such a wonderful experience. It was truly delicious, thank you for the meal! Approximately 17,000 yen per person (16,000 yen for the course + 2 drinks).

I made a reservation three weeks ago for a weekday lunch visit with three groups, and the restaurant was fully booked. It seems that it is possible to make a reservation even a week before if the timing is right for lunch. The dishes, starting from the red tilefish placed in the finger bowl, were delicious. The red tilefish and spear squid had exquisite textures, and the liver sauce was also amazing. The tuna's collar was perfectly seasoned, not too sweet or salty, with a careful touch of red vinegar, salt, soy sauce, a sprinkle of freshly grated wasabi, and salted kelp with yuzu. The medium fatty tuna and minced tuna belly with green onions were also delicious, with an extra order of red tilefish and green onions. The omakase course cost 12,000 yen, but the quality-price ratio was excellent. The chef was busy chatting with regular customers but was kind and attentive. The restaurant seems to be gaining more popularity. The photos are arranged in the order of dishes for easy viewing. This was my 400th Fukuoka restaurant visit, and it was memorable.

I used this restaurant for dinner during my business trip to Kokura. I was able to make a reservation even though it was Sunday night. The restaurant has a counter with 5-6 seats. I enjoyed dishes such as grilled spear squid and red tilefish with sake, seared aged red snapper, flounder with red tilefish liver, snow crab innards with miso, steamed red tilefish sushi, and various nigiri sushi including red tilefish, tuna, shrimp, mackerel, red squid, golden eye snapper, abalone, and cutlassfish. Both the appetizers and sushi were delicious. The sushi was served with liver, grated radish, and vinegar citrus to enhance the flavors. I was able to experience the deliciousness of Kokura's sushi, known as Kitakyushu's sushi.

This is a sushi restaurant that used to be in Moji but relocated to Kokura, about a 5-minute walk from Kokura Station. It seems to be run by a husband and wife. Since it was lunchtime, the menu mainly consisted of sushi. They served red snapper, spear squid, flounder, red sea bream, scallop, mackerel, yellowtail, cutlassfish, and more. The Akamutsu liver sushi was particularly delicious. The only downside was that there was no pickled ginger. Overall, it was a reasonably priced and delicious meal. Thank you for the feast.

On this day, I visited "Sushi Asakai" in Kokura for lunch. It's located just 2 minutes from Heiwa-dori Station. The sushi lunch set included: Akamutsu and spear squid, grilled sake flounder, akamutsu liver salad, akamutsu hikkage, shrimp and sea urchin, shime saba, seared mackerel with seaweed, seared mackerel, buri, golden eye snapper, seared tuna with toppings, flat scallop, seared mackerel with seaweed, swordfish, akamutsu and spear squid, grilled sake flounder, akamutsu liver salad, tuna hand roll, mekabu gunkan, cucumber pickles, miso soup with seaweed, earl grey ice cream. Most sushi came with salt, grated wasabi, soy sauce, citrus, and yuzu pepper. The sushi was firmly and skillfully made. It was a bit disappointing that there was no ginger (gari), but overall, the service and hospitality of the proprietress were impressive.

It's been a while since my business trip to Kokura, and this time I visited this restaurant. Last time, the French chef recommended this place to me. Kokura is known for its high-level sushi. The restaurant has only 5 counter seats and is difficult to make a reservation. The chef skillfully brings out the flavor of the fish in each dish. The red vinegar rice used here is rare in Kokura. The balance between the fish and rice is excellent. The chef calmly and skillfully prepares each piece of sushi. Even the soup at the end was perfect. I was truly impressed by the high level of sushi in Kokura. I have added another restaurant to my list of places to revisit. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I went to Sushi Asami in Kokura, Kitakyushu City. Due to the various circumstances of the coronavirus, I hadn't visited the restaurant for a while. This time, I carefully planned my visit and went fully prepared. When I entered the restaurant, Asami-san and the female owner welcomed me with smiles. They both seemed to have gotten younger! I had the lunch omakase course (9000 yen) which included red tilefish, spear squid, seared flatfish with roasted sake, anglerfish liver, bluefin tuna, edge shrimp, crab ovaries, red sea bream, seared spear squid, red sea urchin, golden eye snapper, grilled abalone, horse mackerel, seared miso soup, bluefin tuna, kelp arugula ice cream, and a variety of sake. The food at Asami was incredibly delicious. The sushi rice had a fantastic taste, and the quality of the ingredients and the skill in preparing each piece of sushi was outstanding. I look forward to trying the evening omakase course next time. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I visited "Sushi Asami," a sushi restaurant located in Kitakyushu City, which is listed in the Michelin Plate in the Fukuoka Michelin Guide 2019. The restaurant, which has been running for 50 years in the modern retro city of Moji, known as the gateway from Honshu, closed its doors and opened in a new location in Kokura in November 2017. It is just a 3-minute walk from the Kitakyushu Monorail Heiwa-dori Station, and within walking distance from JR Kokura Station. The restaurant is tucked away on the first floor of the Hatonaka Building, down a side street from Komonodori. Inside, there are only 6 counter seats in a cozy space. Here is the menu I had today: - Roasted sake with grated daikon and mugwort - Pufferfish and red sea bream liver - Mackerel with salt koji - Red sea bream - Yokowa (a type of fish) - Spot prawn - Vinegar-cured sardine - Spear squid - Pufferfish milt - Aged wild yellowtail - Smaller portion of Yokowa - Giant clam - Miso soup - Grilled sardine - Cutlass fish - Medium fatty tuna - Pickled turnip - Green onion and plum - Earl Grey ice cream The elegant flavors and unique twists by Asami-san were delightful. The spot prawn was served in a shape reminiscent of a mantis shrimp. The vinegar-cured sardine had a smooth taste that complemented the fatty sardine well. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious sushi. I would love to visit again if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

I had already visited this restaurant for lunch and it was so delicious that I wanted to go back for dinner, but couldn't due to the pandemic. Finally, I was able to travel and visit the restaurant. There were only 6 people, including us, at the restaurant. The meal started at 6:00 pm and we could watch the sushi being made in front of us. Red sea bream, horse mackerel, spot prawn, squid, cutlassfish, shirako, medium fatty tuna, scallion, and seaweed sushi, among others. Everything was delicious, with no disappointments. Personally, the red sea bream sushi (I prefer to call it nodoguro) was especially delicious, with the rich flavor of the fat coating the fish. Also, the cutlassfish sushi was amazing. It was seared, giving it a fragrant and tender texture that melted in the mouth. There was also a red sea bream steamed sushi, I believe. It was served in a small ceramic dish, and we were told to mix it before eating. The balance of the sticky red sea bream and the rice was perfect, and it was very tasty. The meal ended with Earl Grey ice cream. The cost was 16,000 yen per person (including tax). The friendly conversations with the proprietress and chef, along with the delicious food, left me completely satisfied. Despite the travel expenses, I will definitely visit again in the future.
