I went on a trip to Kyushu with my golf buddies during the period when the state of emergency was lifted. We heard that they have been open for business since October 1st, so we had a local resident in Kyushu make a reservation for us. Nagano is known for its Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) along with motsu nabe (offal hot pot), and it's said that you can enjoy it at a reasonable price. We had two types of Mizutaki - one with bone-in meat and the other with minced meat and chicken breast. We started with the soup. It was clear and light, not too rich like a typical tonkotsu (pork bone) soup, but more like a clear white broth. The chicken used was naturally raised with low fat content, and the bone-in meat reminded me of KFC's fried chicken in a hot pot style. I enjoyed both, but as someone who doesn't mind bones, I felt that the bone-in meat had a more distinct chicken flavor. I like the atmosphere of chicken hot pot. The ponzu sauce was light and elegant, giving an overall refined taste. The fried chicken was also refined, and the vegetables were fresh and delicious, giving a sense of freshness. If I have the chance, I would like to come back and enjoy it leisurely.

Fukuoka, Nakasu Kawabata's "Mizutaki Nagano" is a famous restaurant for its Mizutaki (chicken hot pot), established for 100 years! I made a reservation about a month and a half ago because it was difficult to get a reservation in the past. Despite the midsummer heat, the restaurant was quite busy. The Mizutaki course for 3,200 yen allows you to choose between bone-in meat and minced meat, and this time I chose a mix. Firstly, this price is quite cheap compared to other Mizutaki restaurants. Additionally, we ordered a little bit of smoked chicken, chicken wings, and fried chicken as well since there were 6 of us. Each additional order was around 500 yen per person. First, we had the soup, then dipped the bone-in meat in ponzu sauce. Oh, it was delicious. Next was the minced meat. Oh, it was delicious. The vegetables were also tasty, and it was fun to see how the taste of the soup changed after adding the vegetables. And finally, the ochazuke (rice with tea poured over it). It was also amazing. With drinks, it was about 5,500 yen per person and it was definitely worth it. I will definitely come back again.

I went on a trip with a distant relative like a childhood friend whom I haven't seen since middle school. The bird soup, which is pure white and doesn't have a strong smell, is delicious enough on its own, but you can also enjoy various parts like breast meat, wings, and innards. Everything you eat in Hakata is delicious and reasonably priced, but this restaurant is highly recommended even among them. I will definitely visit again when I go to Hakata.

I had my first visit to Nagano, which I had been wanting to go for a long time. I have tried the famous Mizutaki in Fukuoka quite a bit, but the first chicken here was incredibly delicious. It had a nice firm texture and the flavor was quite good. The vinegar soy sauce was not too sour and had a strong umami flavor, making it delicious and easy to eat. The soup was consistently delicious as expected. It was very comforting. When you add vegetables, it becomes sweet and delicious. I especially liked the spring chrysanthemum here, which was tender and tasty. The rice porridge at the end was filled with flavor and was excellent. Thank you for the meal.

My first experience with Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) was here at Nagano-san. The soup I first tasted left a lasting impression on me, making this my favorite Mizutaki restaurant. When my family visited and expressed a desire to eat Mizutaki, we decided to make a reservation for Nagano. Reservations are required and can be made up to two months in advance. The highlight of the meal is definitely the soup, which is so delicious that you can easily drink a lot of it. The chicken pieces with bones are also incredibly tasty. We wanted to try the minced chicken and liver as well, so we made a reservation for four people and it was the right decision. The Mizutaki is delicious even with just salt, but it's also great with ponzu sauce, green onions, and grated radish. The vegetables and wheat gluten absorb the broth well, enhancing the sweetness of the vegetables. For an additional charge, we had a delicious porridge as the finishing touch, savoring every last bit of flavor. Despite feeling stuffed, we were all extremely satisfied. We left with full stomachs and happy hearts. Thank you for the wonderful meal! We will definitely visit again.

First visit, first time having Mizutaki! I contacted them for a reservation a month ago, but they were so popular that they only had availability at 2:30 pm. They start by serving vinegar motsu and adding it to the hot pot broth, which was delicious! I couldn't resist ordering more vinegar motsu, and the broth made the sake go down smoothly. The chicken in the hot pot was also delicious! It paired perfectly with the vinegar soy sauce made in-house, which was also very tasty! Even the porridge at the end was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Thank you very much!

I went during my trip to Fukuoka. Even 3 weeks in advance, Saturdays were fully booked, so I went on Friday afternoon. I'm glad I made a reservation. The staff takes care of everything, so you can eat at just the right time. I haven't eaten much water stew before, but it was delicious. Be sure to make a reservation early when you go.

The air conditioning works well and the seats are spaced out, making it comfortable even during the rainy season. Enjoy dishes like simmered fish, grilled bone-in meat, soup dishes, minced meat, fried chicken, rice porridge, whiskey, single malt, highball, I.W. The restaurant was a 15-minute taxi ride from Fukuoka Airport. Inside, there was a pleasant smell of chicken broth. The lunch sukiyaki set with chicken and minced meat was amazing, starting from the broth. I believe they used a whole chicken, as we could enjoy various parts. The vinegar and soy sauce broth was refreshing, making it easy to keep eating. The addition of cabbage to the pot was also a nice touch. In Tokyo, napa cabbage is common, but I thought using cabbage was a good idea.

This is my first time posting, but I have been going to this restaurant for almost twenty years since my wife, who is from Fukuoka, introduced me to it. In this digital age, reservations can only be made by phone, and I think that's fine. Going digital would only increase the risk of cancellations without notice. On this day, I went for lunch. As a traveler, lunch on a weekday seems to be a good choice. The restaurant was not full, but there were still a decent number of customers. When I was led to my designated table, everything was already prepared. The staff member in charge took care of everything. When I ordered a drink, I was served a rich chicken soup as a greeting. It was very flavorful. Later, when I had chicken soup at another restaurant, it tasted like water in comparison. I realized how rich the chicken soup at this restaurant was. After that, I had grilled chicken, tsukune (chicken meatball), and various vegetables. If you wish, you can also add rice at the end. I highly recommend trying it as a final touch. That's the end of my Fukuoka experience. The dishes were truly soothing.

I have wanted to visit this long-established sukiyaki restaurant for many years. The chicken soup is delicious, and you can also enjoy plenty of vegetables. It was so delicious. Thank you for the meal. There were five of us, and we ordered a whiskey bottle with soda and ice, along with sukiyaki and zosui. It cost 5,000 yen per person. Even the taxi driver on the way there said this is his favorite place.

I was taken to a local restaurant by a friend. They treated us, splitting the bill for six people among four of us, so it came out to about 8,000 yen per person. We had a lot of drinks and the overall experience was so fulfilling that I thought it was quite cheap even though they said it was 8,000 yen per person. However, the staff at the traditional hot pot restaurant in Kanda, Tokyo, were quite intimidating for some reason.

We had made a reservation for two at "Mizutaki Nagano" about a month ago as we wanted to enjoy some delicious food on our day trip from Chiba to Fukuoka. We were really looking forward to it. We chose the course which included a mix of Mizutaki (with bones) and Soup Mizutaki (minced meat), and also pre-ordered the chicken wings and fried chicken. We started with the vinegar motsu which was refreshing and increased our appetite. Then we had the Mizutaki with bone-in chicken in a creamy soup, topped with chopped green onions. The chicken broth was rich and gentle in flavor. The soup was delicious not only at the beginning but also when we added the minced meat, motsu, and vegetables later on. Next, we enjoyed the bone-in chicken with the restaurant's special vinegar soy sauce, which was amazing! (You could buy it but it needed to be refrigerated, so we had to pass on it). Grated radish was also available upon request. In between, we were served the chicken wings and fried chicken, a feast of chicken! Then the minced meat was added to the pot. (The staff kindly took care of everything for us). Finally, the pot was filled with vegetables, and although we were quite full, we managed to finish all the cabbage, chrysanthemum greens, green onions, tofu, konjac, and wheat gluten. Unfortunately, we couldn't make it to the rice porridge in the end. We wanted to take the soup home (it was okay as long as it was consumed on the same day), but considering our flight time back, it was difficult so we gave up on that. The staff was very attentive, and thanks to this review site, our choice of an unfamiliar restaurant in a new place was a success!

I went to a restaurant in Fukuoka during my trip. It was my first time trying Hakata-style Mizutaki (chicken hot pot)! I ordered a mix of bone-in and minced chicken, and enjoyed it with a special vinegar soy sauce. The vinegar soy sauce was to my liking. The Mizutaki was okay, nothing special... It's a very popular restaurant. I couldn't get a reservation for 6:00 pm, so I had the hot pot starting at 4:30 pm, but I still had a good time trying Mizutaki for the first time.

I never knew that hot pot could be this delicious... my concept has completely changed. The broth is amazing, you can even drink it like soup, or it pairs well with alcohol ❤️ The offal is also tender and tasty, changing my perception once again. The staff taking care of the hot pot made the experience even more enjoyable. Grateful for being brought here ❤️ It was a wonderful taste in a wonderful restaurant ❤️

This is not one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog, but as an extra edition, I will share my visit to the must-try water simmered hot pot restaurant in Hakata, the highly popular "Mizutaki Nagano." This restaurant is frequented by celebrities and athletes, and has been featured on television many times. Reservations are required in advance, and I visited during lunchtime. Upon arrival, we were guided to a private room, and the course meal began immediately. The staff takes care of almost all the cooking process for the water simmered hot pot, so all we had to do was eat. It was the best hospitality. We started with a delicious chicken broth soup. The rich flavor of the chicken seeped into our bodies. Next, we were served various bone-in chicken parts from the broth, drizzled with ponzu sauce. The chewy chicken meat was juicy and incredibly delicious. It was so good that we ordered additional bone-in meat. After finishing the chicken, the staff added vegetables to the pot. The crunchy vegetables absorbed the chicken broth and were served with ponzu sauce. It was also delicious! We also ordered rice porridge as a finishing touch. Of course, the staff took care of everything. It was all so delicious! Everything was delicious! It was a fantastic experience and I understand why it's so popular. When dining at a restaurant for "mizutaki" and "motsunabe" in Nagano or Fukuoka, it is often required to have multiple people. It can be difficult to make a reservation for one person. After calling several places, one restaurant confirmed that it was okay to make a reservation for one person. Upon arrival for lunch, I sat at a table on the first floor and started with a non-alcoholic beer. The mizutaki arrived in a large pot with soup and pre-cooked chicken, while the vegetables came in a separate dish. I tried the soup alone first, which was delicious but slightly greasy. At home, I usually make mizutaki by boiling chicken bones for a few hours until the soup turns milky, so I was surprised by the amount of chicken fat floating on the surface. I enjoyed the soup, vegetables, and other ingredients, but I was disappointed with the chicken. I imagined "bone-in" chicken to include drumsticks or other bone-in cuts, but it turned out to be mostly chicken breast slices. I have had mizutaki at other places without this issue, so I wondered if going alone was the problem. The menu stated that certain dishes required a minimum of two people, but I had confirmed that it was okay for one person when making the reservation. I regret not ordering the minced chicken instead. Lastly, the rice porridge could only be ordered for two people. Next time I visit Fukuoka for mizutaki, I plan to go to "Suigetsu" with a group of people.

I visited this restaurant for dinner on the first day of my trip to Fukuoka. My friend made a reservation in advance, and it was my first time visiting. I had tried Mizutaki (chicken hot pot) in Tokyo before, but this was completely different! The soup had an amazing flavor of chicken from the very first sip. There were various cuts of chicken, minced meat, liver, and more. I particularly liked the minced meat. It was delicious with salt, but also tasty with vinegar and soy sauce. The staff were friendly and the prices were reasonable! I had a satisfying meal and drinks for around 5000 yen. I wish they had a branch in Tokyo too. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I moved from Fukuoka to Osaka this month, so I went to Nagano-san, a famous water-based hot pot restaurant, to make sure I have no regrets. I had the water-based hot pot (with bones) and the soup-based hot pot (with minced meat), each costing 3200 yen per serving. The soup was rich but not too heavy, just the way I like it. The bone-in meat was lean and fresh. The liver and minced meat had a refined taste. I also had vegetables, tofu, and wheat gluten after the meat, and they paired well with the soup. Both the meat and vegetables were delicious with the ponzu sauce, which was refreshing. Lastly, I ordered the rice porridge as an extra, and I was satisfied with the reasonable prices. Among all the water-based hot pots I've had, this was the best one, I think.

First of all, the chicken soup is incredibly delicious! The chicken-only course was amazing! The chicken wings were so tender, it was moving. The porridge at the end was the best! It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the Nakasu Kawabata entertainment district. After eating, we took a taxi to the entertainment district. I think reservations are essential.
