The restaurant is a 6-minute walk from Minami-Koiwa Station, located between "Wataden" and "Mankoku" in the Showa-dori shopping street. I ordered tsukune, negima, yakitori skin, momo-niku shio tebasaki motoyaki for ¥140 (others are all ¥80). The quality of the yakitori meat was lacking in richness and umami for chicken thigh meat, with a light and protein-like taste. The sauce was delicious, but I felt that the overall flavor was somewhat lacking due to the meat quality. However, the prices were reasonable and the cheerful and friendly service from the staff was pleasant, so I savored the taste of yakitori with a spirit of not hating the taste but rather the meat first.

There is a take-out yakitori shop in Showa-dori shopping street. The types of skewers change depending on the day, which adds to the fun. Their 100 yen chicken skin senbei is incredibly addictive. It's a great snack option. The yakitori, whether salt or sauce, is delicious. They also offer large ginger yakitori and rolls with burdock, making it a good option for dinner. If you're ever unsure about what to have for dinner, this place is a good choice. Check out the blog for more details: https://zan3tho.com

Three months have passed since the sudden death of the owner of Toriki on Showa Street. While there has been an increase in demand for yakitori at Toriki Honten, it is a bit far for me to go all the way to the station, so I decided to visit Torishichi, which is closer to my home on the yakitori street in Koiwa. Torishichi always has fresh liver and the second generation owner will grill it on the spot for you, allowing you to enjoy it freshly grilled. Today, I decided to try something different besides liver and bonjiri, so I bought heart and tsukune. In addition, I also tried their regular yakitori, which was not as good as Toriki's with its combination of regular meat and skin. The sauce made by the second generation owner is slightly spicy. Overall, bonjiri and liver are still the best choices. I always think about trying the chicken ham rolls and ginger grilled chicken, maybe I'll buy them next time.

Since the closure of Toriki on Showa Street, I have been relying on Torishichi on the nearest yakitori street (Koiwa Showa Street) for the past half month. The liver is fresh, and even though the second generation doesn't grill it on the spot, they will grill it for you, so you can enjoy it freshly grilled. Today, they had various options available, so I couldn't resist getting the liver and bonjiri as usual. I decided to try some other items as well, like skin with thigh meat (yakitori). It's not like the yakitori at Toriki where the thigh meat and skin are grilled together, so you have to buy them separately. The quality is quite good. The yakitori with thigh meat is slightly chewy, and the sauce made by the second generation is a bit spicy, so the bonjiri and liver are still the best choices. I always think about trying the chicken ham roll and ginger chicken too, but I need to dig a little deeper before making a decision. It's not helpful to just keep comparing it to Toriki.

The nearest yakitori street from my home (Showa Street in Koiwa) is Torishichi, where the liver is fresh and the second generation will grill it for you on the spot. They also offer freshly grilled options. I usually only buy liver and bonjiri, but today I decided to try some other items like skin with thigh meat (not skewered together like Toriki). The skin was tender and the thigh meat was slightly tough. The sauce made by the second generation is a bit spicy, so I think the liver and bonjiri are the best choices. I always think about trying the chicken ham rolls and ginger chicken next time, but there is a photo of Kise's first victory displayed on the storefront. I wonder how many years ago that was... There is a sumo stable near the end of Showa Street, so I guess it's Takayasu's turn next... How many times have I said that already? ^ ^

Sometimes I buy yakitori from the chicken meat shop Torishichi, along with Torizei and Toriki, so I'll mention it here. Torishichi is located next to Wataden at the exit of Showa Street. Unfortunately, Mangoku has closed down. Showa Street, which runs from Koiwa Station to Chiba Kaido, has various yakitori shops and chicken meat shops that grill yakitori on the storefront, making it convenient for people to buy in the evening. Each shop has its own unique characteristics when it comes to yakitori, so it's hard to rank them. Generally, I buy liver first to gauge the freshness and grilling quality of the shop. Torishichi also has chicken ham rolls and various side dishes displayed in the evening, but they tend to sell out after 19:00. However, it's okay because the second generation owner is very friendly and willing to grill for you if you give them some time. It's a popular shop for liver and bonjiri. The fresh liver from the chicken meat shop is delicious, even the next day. It may not be as rare as Toriki, but it's a traditional liver dish. Keep up the good work!
