During my business trip in Fukuoka, I visited Kugimoto Shokudo for a solo lunch. The restaurant is located about a 3-minute walk from Gofukumachi Station, within walking distance from Nakasu area. Kugimoto Shokudo is known for its unique Taiwanese-style simmered pig trotters. I arrived around 1:00 PM and found a simple facade and slightly dim interior. The restaurant has a total of 28 seats, including counter and table seating. I chose a seat at the counter. On the table, there were condiments like yuzu pepper, mustard, shichimi, soy sauce, chopsticks, toothpicks, paper napkins, and a water pitcher. After being seated, water was served. The lunch menu offered two options: pig trotters and fried chicken. I ordered the Pig Trotters Set B with extra rice for 980 yen. The dish arrived in about 5 minutes, consisting of pig trotters, boiled vegetables, thick fried tofu, simmered egg, rice, miso soup, and three types of pickles. The well-cooked pig trotters had a tender texture and the bones came off easily, making it easy to eat. The sweet and savory sauce paired perfectly with the rice. Of course, I poured plenty of sauce over the rice before enjoying it. The simple boiled vegetables and flavorful thick fried tofu were also delicious. I prefer the simmered egg to be a bit more runny. With such quality, quantity, and good balance, the price being under 1,000 yen is excellent value for money. If you're looking to try the incredibly delicious Taiwanese-style simmered pig trotters, be sure to visit Kugimoto Shokudo!
