I arrived at a restaurant that my acquaintance had made a reservation for. Nearby is Yasaka Shrine. The atmosphere was different from what I had imagined. The curtain felt... It didn't seem like Kyoto, let alone Gion... I actually liked the nostalgic feel of a downtown vibe. Upon entering the restaurant, I liked it even more. The nostalgic atmosphere with only counter seats. The menu was not just on a wooden board, but also various items pasted on vinyl-covered paper. It was hard to decide what to order. Then, my acquaintance arrived. "What would you like to eat?" my acquaintance asked, so I decided to start with what my acquaintance recommended. [Special dashimaki] "Huh, dashimaki?" It was a surprising order. However, when they started grilling the dashimaki on the iron plate in front of me... my heart was instantly captivated. The grilling method was unique. The ingredients inside like green onions and pickled ginger were unique. After going through the teppanyaki process, it was ready. Just by looking at it, it looked incredibly delicious. Let's dig in. My acquaintance, being a gourmet lover, has a discerning taste. It was superb as a B-class delicacy and a great accompaniment to drinks. Even during the day, we were already drinking beer. Delicious! Teppanyaki is the best because you can eat it piping hot. It was even better on this cold day. Next up, [Grilled cartilage]. This might have been my request. It was different from what I had imagined, but it was incredibly delicious. The crunchy texture and Kujyo green onions went well together. It was truly a great dish to accompany drinks. I was also happy that they finished it off with aluminum foil so that the umami wouldn't escape... [Grilled squid] was also delicious. It had a street food vibe. The simple seasoning allowed the full flavor of the ingredients to shine. I couldn't help but think, "Is this Osaka?" I think the next teppanyaki was... maybe octopus. If there was squid, then octopus... that's the feeling I got. It paired well with Kujyo green onions. The drinks were flowing smoothly. This was also recommended by my acquaintance. [Grilled oysters] were seasoned perfectly with bean sprouts. The balance of pepper was just right. It had a thick texture and was delicious! Even the restaurant's mark indicated it was "extremely delicious." It was already delicious on its own, but dipping it in ponzu sauce enhanced the flavor even more. I never thought oysters could be enjoyed in this way. And then, I decided to order the mysterious food that caught my eye on the menu board. [Nasu minchi cheese] Enjoying three flavors? Minced meat topped with eggplant. I thought, "I see." Grilled on both sides, it was just as expected... no, it was different... there was more to it... They generously sprinkled cheese on top. Just the aroma alone made me feel like I could eat a whole bowl of rice. It was irresistible. The cheese had a nice sear on it when it was done. When you eat it together... it was so delicious... Even those who dislike eggplant could enjoy it. Ordering this was a great decision. To finish, there was no other choice but to go with a Kyoto specialty. [Gyusujin no betayaki]. It looked like okonomiyaki, but instead of kneading cabbage into the flour, they sandwiched cabbage in between. Drizzled with sauce (probably Otafuku)... topped with bonito flakes and seaweed. And it was ready. Let's dig in. The richness of the beef tendon was irresistible. It was my first time having betayaki. Delicious! My stomach was quite full, but my appetite was not fading. With plenty of cabbage, it's healthy... no, I was taken to a good restaurant. Thank you! After that, inbound tourists and Japanese tourists also started to come in. Since there were only counter seats, it really depended on timing. It was great to come here with a regular customer (acquaintance)!
