In April 2013, I revisited the restaurant after not being able to order the 1500 yen lunch course A in March due to lunchtime ordering being stopped. This time, I had enough time so I decided to revisit. Just like last time, there were no bicycles parked in front of the restaurant, and when I looked inside, there was no one there. The owner chef was taking a break inside. I chose the fish option this time, and enjoyed an amuse-bouche followed by a platter of four assorted appetizers, a main fish dish of salmon, and a petite dessert with coffee. The amuse-bouche was a cold creamy soup, and the appetizers, including duck and quiche, were a delight. The main dish sauce had a true French taste, and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The petite dessert was just the right size. I asked about the Beatles songs playing in the background, and learned that the owner chef's parents were fans of the Beatles, so they play their songs in the restaurant. The atmosphere was pleasant with a spring breeze coming in through the terrace. Overall, I was able to enjoy everything and found the revisit worth it. I changed my rating to 4.5 stars as I was able to enjoy French cuisine for 1500 yen.
During a cherry blossom viewing stroll in March 2013, I stumbled upon this restaurant. Several ladies who seemed like regulars were coming down the steps of the restaurant. Located in a residential area next to Nakazato Elementary School, I was curious about what kind of restaurant it was. When I saw the sign that said "French," I was intrigued. The ladies seemed to have come by bicycle, so I thought the lunchtime prices might be reasonable. The lunch course A was 1500 yen, which included a choice of meat or fish dish, with amuse-bouche, appetizers, and dessert. This was indeed a great deal! The only concern was whether my large dog would be allowed. I was told that dogs were allowed on the terrace, so I waited for a moment and then entered the restaurant. The terrace had two four-person tables. Since I arrived late, the A course seemed to be unavailable. I settled for the hamburger steak lunch with red wine sauce and coffee. There was no water service for the dog, but the staff, a kind lady who seemed to be the owner's sister, welcomed my dog gently. The owner seemed to be a Beatles fan, as the background music was all Beatles songs. The salad arrived first, followed by the main dish and bread. As mentioned on the website, the chef's specialty seemed to be the sauce, and the red wine sauce was indeed delicious, without any alcohol smell. The hamburger steak had onions in it, which my dog couldn't eat, so he missed out on that. The warm and crispy French bread dipped in the wine sauce was delightful, and even my dog enjoyed it. I randomly found this restaurant during my walk and decided to give it a try. French cuisine might seem intimidating, but the chef aims to create an approachable atmosphere for the locals, and indeed, it felt like a cozy place where neighborhood ladies come for lunch chats. Next time, I plan to visit earlier and try the A course.
