Those who love thick noodles must visit this place. I discovered a great restaurant with delicious #wonton noodles and #char siu onigiri. The onigiri was small, so I wish I had ordered two. Thank you for the meal ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆

I came when the store opened in Kokura a long time ago (lol), but for some reason, I never made it to the main store. I've been to the nearby Daisangen many times though (lol). So, I finally made it here and tried the wonton noodles, and they were delicious! My younger brother will definitely love this too (lol).

I'm back again! Taiping Mountain Ramen. With 3 slices of char siu and a seasoned egg! It's the best cost performance. It's light, but the taste is exquisite, like a soy sauce tonkotsu broth? The noodles are similar to champon and go very well together. Adding pepper to taste is also good.

I came to Moji for work and decided to look for a delicious ramen nearby. I ended up here! I wasn't expecting much from this old-fashioned place, but it was really delicious! The soup was a light, sweet soy sauce pork bone broth, the noodles were medium thickness, and the toppings included chashu, bean sprouts, boiled egg, green onions, and bamboo shoots - all very traditional but with a unique taste. The service was also very polite. Thank you for the meal!

There is a coin parking nearby. I decided to try it for the first time since there was no line. I ordered the Taihei Mountain ramen for 850 yen. The soy sauce tonkotsu soup had a gentle sweetness to it. It was a relief for my stomach since I had been eating continuously. The bamboo shoots were delicious.

I visited Taiheizan in Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City! It is a long-established ramen shop. As soon as it opened at 11 o'clock, many customers entered. The interior has counter and table seats, and can accommodate over 20 people. The menu is posted on the wall, and I chose the wonton noodles for 950 yen. There are no extra noodle servings, but you can choose regular or large size if you want to eat a lot. Water is available on the table. After a while, the bowl arrived, and it looked like Chinese soba. The noodles are medium-thick straight noodles, and the soup is a blend of soy sauce, chicken broth, and pork bone, leaving a lingering delicious taste. Pepper is already included, giving it a traditional ramen flavor! The toppings include lean chashu, green onions, bean sprouts, and wontons. It is a light and easy-to-eat ramen. I hope this shop, loved by the locals, will continue to do well. There is a parking lot right in front of the store, so please stop by when you are in the area!

After enjoying delicious baked curry at "Koganemushi" during the Mojiko Port famous baked curry tour, I couldn't help but be intrigued by the sign for Ootenzan and ended up going in. I ordered the Ootenzan ramen. It came out quickly! It had an old-fashioned Chinese soba-style taste, with a hint of sweetness. Maybe it's because they use Kyushu soy sauce? The thinly sliced chashu was tender. The crunchy texture of the bean sprouts was nice. The noodles were normal and firm. As expected, it was delicious. I was satisfied.

Located near JR Moji Port Station, close to the Kanmon Tunnel, at 1-5-2 Higashimachi, Moji Ward, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Hidayatei is a great spot to enjoy fried rice and dumplings before heading towards Moji Port Station. Even if you are coming from Route 3 or Route 199, it is easily accessible. After enjoying a meal at Hidayatei, take a leisurely walk towards Moji Port Station. Just a short 5-minute walk away, you will spot a ramen shop. Despite already being full from earlier, it would be a shame not to try the ramen while in Moji. I ordered the regular ramen for 750 yen, as the mini portion seemed too small. The tonkotsu shoyu soup was delicious, and the noodles had a Champon-like texture. It was a satisfying meal and a must-try when in Moji. I managed to finish it all and enjoyed the smooth texture of the noodles. In my opinion, this is the go-to ramen spot in Moji. From Wabukari to Moji Port, I truly experienced a "foodie adventure" (laughs).

This is the first shop I visited on a day trip from Tokyo. I was the first customer as it had just opened! Since it was a weekday, many people who work nearby came in one after another, suggesting it's a popular place. The ramen was soy sauce tonkotsu and paired well with the noodles. I also think it went well with the chashu rice ball I had together. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

This time, I would like to introduce the "Taiheizan Ramen" from Daheizan Moji Port Main Store. The store is located near the Kanmon Bridge in Moji, Kitakyushu City, close to the Moji Port Retro District. The address is 1-5-2 Higashihonmachi, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is a popular restaurant with long lines during lunchtime. It is part of the same group as the popular ramen restaurant "Toryuken" in Kitakyushu City. You can recognize Daheizan by its red curtain. The interior of the store has a unique retro atmosphere, giving off a nostalgic feeling. Daheizan's soup is a soy sauce tonkotsu base, leaning more towards soy sauce than tonkotsu. The noodles are slightly thick and go well with the soup. Even those who are not fond of tonkotsu can enjoy its delicious taste. The prices seemed to have increased a bit, but I am in favor of price increases if it means they can continue to provide delicious ramen. I cannot make it myself, so I am grateful for the opportunity to enjoy tasty ramen. I would like to visit again if I have the chance. Store Name: Daheizan Moji Port Main Store Address: 1-5-2 Higashihonmachi, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture Business Hours: 11:00-17:00 Closed on Tuesdays Contact: 093-321-5183

I went to a famous ramen restaurant in Moji Port. The curry ramen is also popular, but the regular ramen is the best! It was a soy sauce tonkotsu ramen with a deep flavor that I had never tasted before. The menma topping I added was also popular, and I could hear people saying "the menma is delicious" around me. It was well-seasoned and indeed delicious. It was recommended by the restaurant, so they were selling menma as a souvenir next to the cash register.

Arrived around 10:55 on Saturday. I was the 9th person in line, just 5 minutes before the store opened. The parking lot with 14 spaces was already almost full. At 11:00, everyone was guided into the store at once. The interior of the store was surprisingly spacious in an L-shape. A staff member came to take our order shortly after we were seated. I ordered the Daihirayama Ramen for 850 yen and one onigiri (with char siu) for 100 yen. The food was served in about 5 minutes. The soup had a soy sauce base with a slightly sweet and gentle flavor. The noodles were round and chewy with a medium thickness. It reminded me a bit of Hiroshima-style ramen. The menma was thinly sliced and small but had a good crunch and a rich flavor. The char siu was tender after being warmed in the soup. The onigiri was delicious with a good mix of char siu. Thank you for the meal. After eating, I went to Chuhara Kannon Temple to enjoy the autumn leaves.

On a certain day in November 2022, the 43rd day of my journey around Japan (end of the first week of the second chapter). I left Ube City in Yamaguchi Prefecture and had a light meal of clam soup at Drive-In Michishio. Finally, I arrived at the western tip of Honshu, Shimonoseki City in Yamaguchi Prefecture. I then crossed over to Kyushu through the Kanmon Tunnel. Since the amount of food I had for lunch was small, I decided to have ramen as a snack at Taihei Mountain's Moji Port Main Store. This long-established shop, founded 60 years ago (according to the internet), has an old-fashioned exterior but a clean and neat interior. I had the Taihei Mountain Ramen for 850 yen. The pork bone-based soup was surprisingly light, contrary to the rich and thick tonkotsu ramen commonly associated with Kyushu. It had a sweet and flavorful taste, likely from the sweet soy sauce and vegetable sweetness of Kyushu. The medium-thin straight noodles were slightly thicker and chewier than Hakata Nagahama-style noodles. They paired perfectly with the soup. The toppings included chashu, bamboo shoots, seasoned egg, bean sprouts, and green onions. I also had one chashu rice ball for 100 yen, which was generously filled with chashu, imparting its juicy umami flavor to the rice. It was a delicious meal.

Visited on September 22, 2022. On the final day in Kyushu, I stopped by near Hakata Airport and Moji Port, browsing souvenir shops and station buildings. Suddenly, I started to feel a little hungry... I had only eaten tempura set meal at around 10:30 am near the airport, so I was looking for a snack in the form of ramen. We ordered "Wonton Noodles" and my wife ordered a "Mini Ramen" at the Oheizan Moji Port Main Store in Kitakyushu City, Moji Ward. It was past 3 pm, and there were no other customers, so we had a leisurely time. While waiting, I noticed that many ramen shops in Kyushu seem to offer onigiri as a side menu. When the ramen arrived, I tasted the soup, which was different from the expected tonkotsu soup. It looked like a house-style ramen, but the taste was a bit different. The noodles were chewy, also different from what I had imagined, but they were delicious, and I ended up finishing the soup. I realized that one of the joys of traveling is being able to enjoy the differences in ramen and other foods depending on the region.

- Oohirayama Ramen 800 yen
- After several years, I made a triumphant return to this renowned Chinese soba shop in Moji Port (actually, I had to give up on visiting a famous nearby curry shop due to it being full).
- As expected, it was crowded at lunchtime, but being a ramen shop, the turnover was fast, and there were plenty of counter seats with zero waiting time.
- The clear soy sauce-based soup is so delicious that I can't quite tell what flavor it is, but it's just really good.
- A rare shop in Fukuoka where you can enjoy authentic Chinese soba.

In Kitakyushu Moji Ward, there is a soy sauce pork bone ramen. While the area is famous for its baked curry, when I crave ramen, I visit this place. It offers traditional Chinese soba-style ramen with pork bone broth. If you want something other than pork bone, be sure to visit here. The chashu rice balls are also delicious. I had lunch near the Kanmon Tunnel! The ramen was 700 yen and the chashu onigiri was 90 yen. It was my first visit, but the taste was nostalgic and familiar. Everyone loves the chashu onigiri! Personally, I found it even better when I added spicy miso to it.

Fukuoka Prefecture Kitakyushu City, a famous shop in the bustling retro town of Moji Port. Established around 1959, "Ohirayama" Moji Port Main Store. ■ Order: Ramen (¥700), among others ■ Date of visit: As of February 1, 2022. The management is now in the hands of Takao Co., Ltd., which operates the Kitakyushu Ramen "Tohryuken," taking over from the founder as the third generation and starting afresh. It finally dawned on you and me. Yes, I see, it makes sense that the staff couldn't immediately answer the founding year. But this is not a negative thing, rather a positive story. It is important not to overlook the disappearing local food culture and to raise our hands as storytellers, or rather as creators. I don't know the details, but yes. Now, "Ramen." The mountains of bowls piled up in the kitchen. Surely, they are filled with sauce and oil. The sheer number of servings per day must be quite high.

I visited this famous local ramen shop early to avoid the crowds. I arrived at 11:20 and was able to get a seat. Just 10 minutes later, there were 4 people waiting in the adjacent waiting room. This time, I tried the Char Siu Ramen. The sweetness in the aftertaste may be due to the Kyushu soy sauce used. I personally prefer the salty taste of Kanto-style ramen, but I still enjoyed the soup here.

I wanted to try a ramen that wasn't tonkotsu for a change, so I had the Taiping Mountain Ramen. It gets crowded at lunchtime, but there is a spacious waiting area next door where you can relax while you wait. It's a popular place, but the parking lot is a bit small and limited. I definitely want to go back again!
