Visited a specialty tea-steamed dish restaurant out of curiosity, but had to check four times if there were seats available before finally being able to enter on the fifth attempt. The place was playing live jazz music, adding to the ambiance. It might be a good idea to make a reservation. Ordered tea-steamed dishes with Nameko mushrooms and seaweed, plum, and wasabi flavors. The Nameko mushrooms and seaweed tea-steamed dish was the highlight. However, it lacked a strong impact of broth flavor. The Inari sushi had a delicious taste soaked in the sauce. They were bite-sized. Later found out that the main branch is in Kumamoto, so felt it wasn't necessary to wait in line to eat in Fukuoka.

A must-visit place for chawanmushi lovers. The small chawanmushi lacked flavor, while the standard one was too salty. The seafood in the chawanmushi had a strong smell, which was disappointing. I noticed that there was cellophane tape on my beer glass after pouring the beer, so I had to ask for a replacement glass, feeling like I lost the amount of one beer. They didn't have hiyayakko, which was a bit disappointing. The shrimp tempura, however, was delicious. When sitting at the counter, be prepared for splashes from the cooking area.

I visited "Chawanmushi Honpo Inaho Nakasu Store" located at 4-1-13 Nakasu, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. When I entered the narrow alley, I found the familiar Inaho restaurant from Kumamoto and decided to stop by for a meal. The interior of the restaurant had a counter seat right at the entrance, and I think there were also seats on the second floor. I ordered a bottle of Kirin Classic Lager beer and was served a roast chicken-like appetizer. The chawanmushi I ordered had cheese, Nameko mushrooms, and dried shrimp - the taste and presentation were so comforting! The inari sushi was also delicious, with the broth oozing out as you bite into it. Even though it was late, the restaurant was bustling, which made me happy. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend who knows Fukuoka well. It was a bit hard to find at first as it's tucked away in a back alley, but I eventually found it in Ningyokoji. I heard that their chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard) is delicious, so I decided to give it a try. It was a hit! They offer a variety of chawanmushi ranging from 440 yen, including the classic mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and unique options like bacon and tomato. The 3-piece set for 1,200 yen is a great deal as you get to enjoy three different types of chawanmushi. They have options like eel, sea bream with mustard, and locally sourced chicken. The ambiance of the restaurant gives off a luxurious vibe, similar to what you would find in Kyoto's Pontocho district, and the taste of the food definitely lives up to it.

At the end of a drinking party in Hakata, there are various options like ramen, udon, okayu, onigiri, but recently this place! A specialty shop for chawanmushi. Cheese is popular, but the shrimp is also delicious!! The sesame mackerel and special inari are also tasty. Chawanmushi and inari go well together. They go really well together!

Good evening!! I was called to Nakasu for work-related reasons and decided to stop by for dinner. The atmosphere is nice as you enter the narrow streets. I ordered a set of chawanmushi to start over with a draft beer (lol). Three types (cheese, seaweed, shrimp) came out, piping hot and creamy. This was a perfect way to end the meal. It was delicious, thank you (*^^*)

I visited a tea-steamed dish specialty shop during my trip to Fukuoka. They had various types of tea-steamed dishes. I love tea-steamed dishes, so I was able to eat four of the smaller ones easily (lol). I personally like Aosa and Nameko. The sake was also delicious, making it a great second stop.

Tea-steamed egg custard shop. The 3-piece B set of tea-steamed egg custard was amazing. The sea bream, eel, and local chicken were all packed with flavor and incredibly delicious. The grilled sea cucumber was also fragrant and delicious, making each bite a delight. The rolled omelette always has a cute bear character on top, adding a heartwarming touch. The counter was full, so we sat in the second-floor tatami room and were able to relax.

It's a creative tea-steamed egg custard restaurant with about 15 different varieties. I've been there about 4 times, but I still haven't come across the squid ink tea-steamed egg custard. I want to try it, but it's never available. Highly recommended for tea-steamed egg custard lovers. The price is around 400 yen per piece. Personally, the cheese natto is the best. Surprisingly, it goes well together! It takes about 20 minutes for the tea-steamed egg custard to be ready. There are also snacks to munch on while waiting. In winter, they offer shirako and fresh oysters. The photos include ones from when I went in winter, so there were shirako and other items available. I mostly took videos and have few photos, but I recommend it for tea-steamed egg custard lovers! However, they don't have a wide variety of carb-based dishes, so it may not be suitable for those looking for a hearty meal. For me, tea-steamed egg custard is more like a drink, so it doesn't feel heavy on the stomach. The restaurant is small but clean and tidy, with a clean restroom. So far, if you go with two people, you'll be seated at the counter 100% of the time. The counter can only accommodate about 3 pairs of two. Larger groups seem to be seated on the upper floor, but I haven't seen it myself so I can't say for sure.

I thought it was new that you can eat various kinds of chawanmushi! It was fun to be able to choose between crab, eel, and chicken. The size was just right, so it was nice to be able to eat a variety of dishes. This is a restaurant that chawanmushi lovers definitely should visit.

Located in the bustling nightlife district of Nakasu in March 2023, "Ningyo Koji" retains an old-fashioned charm. The restaurant has the appearance of a small traditional eatery specializing in chawanmushi, offering a quiet and sophisticated atmosphere. I decided to go with beer, as Fukuoka is known for its strong alcoholic beverages. The appetizer was 350 yen and can be shared separately, which was convenient. I tried the simmered vegetables and rapeseed greens with miso vinegar for 580 yen, which were delicious. There were over 20 varieties of chawanmushi to choose from, making it difficult to decide. Eventually, I settled on the "Three-piece A Set" for 1100 yen, which included cheese, namako seaweed, and steamed shrimp. The chawanmushi arrived piping hot after about 20 minutes, so caution was needed. The broth was rich and flavorful, and each ingredient offered a unique taste. The cheese and namako seaweed were both excellent, making it hard to choose a favorite. Despite feeling full, chawanmushi is considered a drink, right? So I indulged in it. It was a new and healthier alternative to ramen. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience.

I went to the second place located diagonally in front of Ichifu-san! There are a variety of chawanmushi options, and personally, I recommend the natto and seaweed. You can also enjoy the presentation of the dishes, so if you want to fully enjoy Nakasu, you must visit this restaurant!

When you come across a shop that you instantly fall in love with, thanks to reviews on Tabelog, you can't help but feel grateful for having discovered it. For someone like me who loves pudding just as much as chawanmushi, reading reviews like "specializing in chawanmushi" or "a place where you can drink chawanmushi" is irresistible. So, I couldn't resist and made my way through the crowded streets of Nakasu to Ningyo-Koji. As expected of the "Chawanmushi Honpo", they offer over 20 types of chawanmushi along with other dishes like sashimi, karaage, and tamagoyaki. However, after a few drinks at two bars, I was in a decently tipsy state. I stuck to my original plan and only ordered chawanmushi. I ordered the Cheese Chawanmushi and the Taiwatashi Chawanmushi. The portion sizes were just right, not too much to eat multiple kinds. The most popular Cheese Chawanmushi had both cream cheese and stretchy cheese in it. I was skeptical about cheese in chawanmushi at first, but after trying it, I was pleasantly surprised. The combination of the traditional dashi and cheese was surprisingly harmonious. The creamy richness of the cheese added a luxurious touch to the chawanmushi. The way the cheese stretched out was also fun to eat. I could see why it's so popular. The Taiwatashi was accidentally ordered, but it's definitely a dish for drinking. I regretted not ordering alcohol with it (laughs). Next time, I'll come here as the first stop and enjoy chawanmushi with plenty of drinks! Whether as a finale or a drinking snack, the sight of chawanmushi is the best. I was completely satisfied with finding such a great restaurant!

The second place I visited was "Chawanmushi Honpo Inaho" in Ningyo Koji. The back alley is so charming... I love it. The daikon radish with cute design on top was delicious. The owner was very polite and made the atmosphere comfortable. The appetizers included simmered turnips, fresh yuba in ankake sauce, and marinated kanpachi with vinegar miso. The recommended dish of the day was creamy and delicious whitefish. It was so good, creamy, and irresistible. The isobeage with yamaimo was a great side dish. The tamagoyaki with the flavor of a sushi restaurant was sweet and a perfect palate cleanser. The elaborate appetizers got me excited. The restaurant was reasonably priced and was amazing. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Perfect for solo dining, girls' night out, hanging out with friends, or a date.

Tonight's finale is Chawanmushi at the Chawanmushi specialty store "Chawanmushi Honpo Inaho"! Their signature dish, the Odamaki Inaho Chawanmushi, costs 1540 yen. This store offers nearly 20 different types of Chawanmushi, including creative variations like natto and tomato bacon, and corn cheese. The Odamaki Inaho Chawanmushi I chose for tonight's finale is larger than usual and even includes udon noodles, making it a perfect ending dish. Despite being a Chawanmushi specialty store, they also have many other delicious menu items. Unfortunately, I couldn't try more today as I was already quite full. The Chawanmushi here is quite large, featuring shrimp, local chicken, shiitake mushrooms, and fish cakes, as well as udon noodles, making it very satisfying. The Chawanmushi, with its rich broth and tender udon noodles, is a perfect match and leaves a gentle, comforting feeling. The Chawanmushi udon is a perfect finale dish. I visited as a finale spot today, but I look forward to coming back and trying more dishes next time!

My wife's two friends from Tokyo came to visit with four people. They had researched and found a place they wanted to visit in Fukuoka. It was a bit hard to find as it was tucked away on a small street. The restaurant specializes in chawanmushi, a dish served at a sushi restaurant in Kumamoto. We tried several varieties of chawanmushi and they were all delicious. The spicy lotus root was also very tasty. There was a wide selection of drinks available. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant. It made me think that having a regular spot like this would be cool. I was treated to the meal so I'm not sure about the cost.

I visited a tea-steamed rice specialty shop called Inaho that I saw on Instagram before. I love tea-steamed rice, so I decided to give it a try today. The shop is located in a hidden spot in Ningyo Koji. The interior has about 6-7 counter seats, making it a cozy little place. The menu for tea-steamed rice is varied and reasonably priced! I ordered the ikura tea-steamed rice and cheese natto tea-steamed rice! Since it takes about 20 minutes, I also ordered goma kanpachi! After a while, the tea-steamed rice arrived! The cute bowl with beautiful ikura, the popping texture of the ikura, and the hot tea-steamed rice were amazing (^_^) The gooey cheese and well-mixed natto were also delicious. I recommend it to those who love tea-steamed rice (^_^)

I had been registered for quite some time but had never been there, so I decided to give it a try. I ordered the cheese natto chawanmushi and the squid ink chawanmushi. There were so many types of chawanmushi to choose from that I was a bit lost. I originally planned to eat about 5 or 6, but I wanted to try other menu items as well, so this time I carefully enjoyed just two. The squid ink chawanmushi was uniquely delicious.

When you pass through the curtain at the doll alley in Nakasu, you are warmly welcomed at the tea-steamed dish specialty shop with a sushi restaurant-like atmosphere. The biggest charm is the variety of tea-steamed dishes, with nearly 20 different options available. The small size, like a teacup, allows you to order one piece per person, almost like ordering yakitori. I ordered the recommended seasonal ginkgo nut tea-steamed dish and wasabi tea-steamed dish. The ginkgo nut tea-steamed dish, although common, was delicious with plenty of seasonal flavors. The slightly challenging wasabi tea-steamed dish had a fresh and delicious taste, with the wasabi flavor blending into the tea-steamed dish itself. You don't feel the sharpness of wasabi at all, making it a great choice for those who are not fond of wasabi. I only had two pieces as a pre-drinking snack, but I wanted to eat more. The gentle dashi broth and the soft tea-steamed dish make you feel like you could eat as much as you want. In addition to tea-steamed dishes, there are many other Japanese menu items available. I was recommended to try the dashimaki tamago next time, and I was reminded that there is a cute bear-shaped daikon radish in it. I forgot until I was told, but there is indeed a cute bear in the dashimaki tamago (photo taken one year ago). Next time, I want to enjoy other dishes along with some sake while looking forward to the tea-steamed dishes.

I really felt like eating chawanmushi, so I took a chance and luckily got a reservation at a popular restaurant. Even on weekdays, reservations are a must at this place. I wonder how Nakasu is doing with the impact of the coronavirus. I had the Chawanmushi 3-piece A set for ¥1000, which included shrimp, nameko mushrooms with seaweed, and cheese. I also had a chilled tomato dish. The chawanmushi was small but delicious, smooth, flavorful, and disappeared quickly. I also tried the cheese again, which surprisingly paired well. There is also a branch in Yakuin, which I plan to visit in the future. I will share my review of that place another time.
