- Kebab bowl (M) ¥950 including tax * Drink service: I got mango juice.
There is a kebab restaurant located a 1-minute walk from Okubo Station on the JR Sobu Line. Whenever I pass by, there is always a line, so I have always ignored this place. I realized that the name of the shop had changed without me noticing. It seems like the shop has opened independently from the previous group. Although the content remains the same as before.
I was planning to go to another restaurant in the area, but it was closed, so I ended up being a lunch refugee. I noticed that this shop had a rare short line, so I decided to eat here. A very friendly and energetic guy was cooking and serving us. It was quite refreshing compared to the Nepalese restaurants I often eat around here. The menu includes bowls, plates, rice-free options, and various choices, but the main item is kebab. This time, I tried the bowl. Considering the price compared to beef bowl restaurants, it seemed a bit expensive, so I opted for the M size. (I later found it satisfying, so I thought it was worth the price.) In less than 5 minutes, the kebab bowl was ready. By the way, you can choose the level of spiciness and the type of meat. I chose "spicy" for the spiciness and "mixed" for the meat.
I finally ate the kebab bowl after taking it back to the office and filling the elevator with the aroma of kebab. First of all, the amount is worth mentioning. If you compare it to the juice pack in the photo, you can see that the cup is huge. It's about one size bigger than the usual beef bowl. And it contains plenty of rice and meat. The rice is small and round. There is a good ratio of rice and kebab, and the amount is just right. As for the taste, there is an overwhelming amount of mayonnaise sauce. However, with a decent amount of kebab in it, avoiding or dipping the mayonnaise sauce while eating makes it quite enjoyable. The kebab itself is on par with other kebab restaurants in the Okubo area. It's not extremely delicious, but it's decent. The spiciness is moderate, and I think it could be a bit spicier. Looking at it this way, the secret of the long line may lie in the volume that allows you to eat to your heart's content rather than the taste. Well, the kebab aroma that fills the street in front of the shop also plays a part. By the way, sweet potatoes are sold at convenience stores, and they have a nice aroma too. Apparently, they sell really well. Aroma is very important, isn't it? I think kebabs have succeeded in that aspect. Nevertheless, I was stuffed. My stomach was so uncomfortable in the afternoon that I couldn't think straight... I couldn't even eat dinner because my stomach was so full. Thank you for the meal.
