I decided to try this newly opened restaurant on the last day of the New Year, as there were not many reviews yet. As a regular customer of Bankairouken and Kegaya Menya, I focused on ordering Sichuan-style dishes. First, I tried the Century Egg Tofu. To my surprise, the tofu came in two large chunks without being sliced. The taste of the Century Egg itself was not bad, but it did not transfer to the tofu, which remained tasteless. Furthermore, the tofu was served cold, creating a mismatch with the other ingredients. It felt like a random combination of cold tofu and Century Egg, rather than a cohesive dish. Next, I had the Spicy Dumplings. Although they were labeled as "spicy," they lacked the expected spiciness. The red sauce turned out to be slightly sweet, rather than spicy, so I ended up dipping the dumplings in soy sauce with chili oil and vinegar. The Spicy Mapo Tofu in a hot stone pot was bubbling and splattering, but it lacked both spiciness and flavor. The tofu was cut smaller than at other restaurants, but it did not absorb the flavors of the sauce. I also noticed that there was very little minced meat used in the dish, which explained the lack of meaty flavor. Finally, the Dan Dan Noodles were light and easy to eat, but they lacked depth and richness in the broth. This restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes, so I did not have high expectations from the beginning. I may need to find out which cuisine they excel in, whether it's Shanghai, Cantonese, Beijing, or Sichuan. Overall, I found the experience to be underwhelming compared to my usual go-to restaurants like Bankairouken and Kegaya Menya. However, the service provided by the female staff attending the tables was polite and efficient, which was a positive aspect. This was my first visit, and I am unsure if I will return in the future.
