I stayed overnight in Hakata to attend a certain academic conference. It was raining heavily due to the typhoon. I received a map of nearby eateries from the hotel and started looking at it intently. There were over 10 recommended restaurants listed, and the first one was this place. I wanted to try motsunabe (tripe hot pot) in Hakata, so I headed to the restaurant following the map. There was a curtain hanging at the entrance, and a sliding door slightly further inside. It was a typical eatery with a counter and table seats. Since I was alone, I sat at the counter. Inside the counter, there were three young chefs working diligently. Looking at the wall and menu, it seemed like the restaurant had its own original miso hot pot, but I opted for the classic motsunabe. Before that, I ordered some sashimi, and was recommended the restaurant's specialty "live sardine isobe maki." I decided to try it. It was a luxurious assortment of sardine, mackerel, amberjack, conger eel, sea bream, and more. I tried the live sardine isobe maki right away, wrapping the sardine and green onions in seaweed and dipping it in soy sauce. It was delicious. The crispy seaweed, rich sardine, and pungent green onions harmonized perfectly. However, the portion was small and not enough for someone like me with a big appetite. This was the same for other delicious sashimi dishes – the portions were not satisfying. Let's be elegant. The motsunabe was finished with a spicy miso seasoning. It had a kick from the shichimi pepper and the broth was very flavorful. I bet I'll get thirsty later... For dessert, I had Korean noodles. They were chewy and easy to swallow. I was satisfied with the food, service, everything. I heard they have a branch in Osaka too. I might want to visit. Oh, and lastly, a stunningly beautiful woman, who looked like an actress, arrived with a man who seemed like a regular customer. The atmosphere of the restaurant suddenly became lively. It was a place where even such beautiful people came.

During this business trip to Fukuoka, I visited Izumiya, which has its main store in Haruyoshi, at the Gion branch. The Gion branch is known for its hot pot dishes. Izumiya is an izakaya that specializes in sushi and hot pot dishes. Since I had a good experience at the Naka-Meguro branch, I made a reservation for Wednesday night with my subordinates. We arrived at around 6:30 pm for our reservation. I had pre-ordered the Keijo Nabe Set (4,000 yen) when making the reservation, and also added the all-you-can-drink option (1,980 yen). We started with some draft beer. [Food Ordered] - Appetizers: Small shrimp fry and simmered hijiki seaweed - Grilled whole sand lance wrapped in seaweed - Sashimi - Tempura - Keijo Nabe (hot pot) - Korean noodles as the finishing dish The appetizers were average, but the grilled whole sand lance was a standout dish. It was like a snack where you wrap sand lance, green onions, and wasabi in roasted seaweed and dip it in soy sauce. It was quite delicious. The sashimi platter included five kinds such as sand lance and yellowtail, all of which were tasty. The tempura, including smelt and green peppers, was enjoyed with wasabi salt and yukari salt. The main dish, Keijo Nabe, made with Keijo miso from Korea, was the highlight. Thinly sliced pork belly, meatballs, tofu, and vegetables were served in the pot. The Keijo miso had a rich and slightly spicy flavor that paired well with the pork belly. We also added some additional entrails to the hot pot, which was delicious. Despite it still being hot in early September, we enjoyed an early hot pot meal. For the finishing dish, we chose Korean noodles. The dry noodles used in black cold noodles were served, and they had a chewy texture similar to cold noodles. The dish had a consistent Keijo miso flavor throughout, but it was not boring and we finished it all. It was delicious! [Drinks Ordered] - Draft beer x 2 - Lemon sour x 6 (for me) - Highball x 7 (for my subordinates) We ate well and drank well at Izumiya, which consistently offers delicious food. I had the sea bream ochazuke lunch set - it came with pickled sea bream and regular sea bream, each with a different flavor. I have been here for dinner a couple of times before, but this was my first time for lunch. It was crowded with office workers. It seems to be popular. I enjoyed it at the counter! I had tonkotsu ramen for lunch at 17:30 on a holiday, then wandered around Hakata Station area. This trip was mainly focused on food, so I didn't have many specific places to visit. I ordered a course menu with all-you-can-drink option. The Isobemaki (grilled sardine wrapped in seaweed) was delicious, and the sashimi was fresh and tasty without any fishy smell. The Hakata specialty motsunabe (offal hot pot) had a sweet flavor in the fat, and the noodles at the end were a good match. You can choose between Korean noodles and another type of noodles, but I forgot the name of the other kind... This restaurant had the best hospitality among the places I visited in Hakata this trip. The staff chatted with us about our trip, and even gave us souvenirs when we left. It's a good restaurant to go to when you want to eat motsunabe in Hakata.

I went to GW in Nagoya with a business partner from Osaka. It was quite last minute, but I was able to make a reservation online and there was availability. I only took one photo, but the Iwashi Isobe Maki, a unique menu item, is definitely worth trying. I wasn't in the mood for the Keishu Nabe, but everything else was excellent.

I made a reservation for a course with all-you-can-drink included and visited at 8 pm on a weekday. I was seated at the counter. The restaurant had a nice level of crowd. A group of three people who walked in without a reservation couldn't get a table and had to leave, so making a reservation was the right choice. The specialty live mackerel is delicious. The duck roast is also good. They placed two types of shochu on the counter, and you can mix it with ice and soda on your own. If you want something else to drink, they will change the bottle in front of you. It's a relaxed and nice atmosphere. The original Gyeongju hot pot that the owner created with amateur ideas 33 years ago is deliciously spicy, with pork and vegetables melting together perfectly. You can order extra pork (around 120g). Even the Korean noodles for the finish were delicious, and it warmed both my body and soul.

I went to Izumita Gion store on December 29, 2022 (Thursday). There were four lunch menu options, and I was able to get the special "Gokumi Seafood Bowl" since I arrived early. The Gokumi Seafood Bowl was priced at 900 yen (tax included) and came with grated sesame and wasabi for dipping in soy sauce. The side dishes included chawanmushi, clear soup, and meatballs. The seafood bowl was packed with fresh sashimi, especially the sweet shrimp, uni, and ikura. It was a visually appealing and delicious meal. After enjoying some of the sashimi, I poured hot broth over the remaining rice to make a seafood ochazuke. It was a satisfying seafood bowl lunch experience. The restaurant is located at 2-29 Gion-machi, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. Closed on Sundays.

I used a course with all-you-can-drink for about 7800 yen for entertainment, and ordered a few dishes a la carte such as horse sashimi and sazae sashimi. The famous Keijo hot pot was a spicy miso hot pot, which was a nice change from the motsu hot pot I had the day before. It was my first time eating sazae sashimi and it was a good experience. It had no smell, and the liver part of the sazae was light green in color but very delicious. The person I entertained was from an island in the Seto Inland Sea, and they were happy with the shellfish sashimi, which was nice.

I was relieved to see that they were still in business and doing well. After finishing a bottle of shochu, we ended the meal with Korean (konjac) noodles in a hot pot, and I was completely full with a bill of around 7000 yen per person. The name of the Keiman Nabe had changed. It was a delicious meal after a long time. Thank you for the feast.

Recently in Hakata, I've been eating Mizutaki, but on this day, I wanted something with a stronger flavor so I decided on Keijo Nabe! Have you heard of Keijo Nabe? It's a delicious hot pot with a soup blended with several types of miso, thin slices of pork belly, and vegetables like spinach. Izumida is said to be the originator of this dish! @izumidagionten This is incredibly delicious! If you haven't tried it, you should. We also tried their famous Isobe Maki with sardines (photos 3 and 4), which was also delicious! We also had the sesame mackerel and a variety of other dishes. I went to eat alone at a place called [Izumita Gion Store] that was recommended to me. The restaurant is just a few minutes' walk from Gion Station. I reserved a solo hot pot course. The appetizer was simmered yellowtail. The pickled plum was a nice touch and went well with the alcohol. The next dish was rolled iwashi sashimi. It wasn't in season, but it was still good. I rolled the fish with green onions, wasabi, and seaweed. After duck char siu and tempura, the main dish arrived. It was a Keijo hot pot with pork belly slices as the main ingredient. The soup had a rich flavor with a slight spiciness. They didn't use dashi, but instead diluted miso with water. They said their special miso would overpower the dashi. The meal ended with Korean noodles. I enjoyed it with a highball with lemon. The lemon that came with the sashimi was a nice touch. When I asked for more lemon, they kindly provided it. I was very satisfied with my solo hot pot experience. The staff was friendly and the service was great. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Gion Station - Izumita Station is right nearby. It was my first time visiting and they prepared a private room on the 2nd floor for us. However, it was not ideal for private conversations as it was noisy around. We enjoyed the various courses, including the rare miso hot pot in Nakasu, which was quite delicious. The chewy finishing noodles were also good. The whale sashimi was around 1000 yen and had good value. After paying the bill, they gave us a small bag of homemade salt as a gift. Grateful overall.

Today I went for the first time after the renovation. The restaurant looks a bit cleaner now. I was excited to see the sake displayed in the fridge at the back of the counter. The Ebisu horse mackerel I had today was very delicious. The Ezo abalone and bonito tataki were also tasty, and I enjoyed the Keijo hot pot, leaving me full. The surprise dish of the day was the avocado taco. Please visit and find out what it is.

I have been using this place quite often, both during the day and at night. On this day, we had guests from Tokyo and we all had lunch here. I had the seafood bowl. It comes with a bowl of soup, so you can pour it over at the end. It's a great deal for 800 yen. It was delicious.

I reserved only a seat. The staff's service was not bad, but I didn't feel much consideration in the serving or order of the dishes. I ordered one serving of Gyeongju hot pot. The taste was strong and different from what I imagined, but it was delicious.

It's been a while since my last visit. I was looking forward to the Keijo hot pot and the Isobe maki with sardines. It was delicious, but it seemed like the portion size had decreased a bit. Perhaps it's due to the impact of rising ingredient costs. I hope they keep up the good work. Thank you for the meal!
